Review summary

Rightio receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from customers, with many expressing frustration over high fees and poor communication. Numerous reviewers describe the company as a "scam," citing unexpected charges, such as £226 for an estimate, and a lack of follow-through on promised services. Customers report long wait times for emergency plumbing, with some waiting hours without any response. However, there are a few positive mentions of the engineers themselves, who are described as helpful and friendly, providing quick service when they do arrive. Despite these isolated positive experiences, the majority of reviews highlight significant dissatisfaction with Rightio's reliability and transparency. Overall, the sentiment is predominantly negative, with many customers advising against using the service.

Found Rightio in local adverts

Found Rightio in local adverts. Local number etc. later found them to be nationwide. Excellent quote from telephone call outlining my requirements... £169 for kitchen tap and bathroom basin tap and thermo rad valve. Excellent plumber completed the job circa 3hrs. established he was subcontracted to rightio.and not a local plumbing company.Subsequently billed £983 with £676 Labour and £140 parts...1 waste plug 1 wast trap 4 service valves and sealant. Absolutely disgusted as regards to cost.. the rad valve was declined.BEWARE. this company requests card details when you call and book, take the money immediately on completion and disappear before you get the email with the bill. I accept that I have been had with no recourse but would advise to stay clear of their services. It is galling that I provided the taps and only called them to save myself a job due to a knee injury...More fool me, I should have done it myself or got a genuine local plumber for considerably less...To reiterate £169 telephone Quote £983 final bill

Just consistently pathetic

Just consistently pathetic. Again, my Vaillant boiler was semi working with F75 popping up and myself fixing with alternating the water pressure, bleeding radiators and turning the pressure valves on, then looking for a more sustainable solution from Careclub/Rightio, as hold a service plan with on direct debit. They send the same engineer who spent two hours then left with heating on full suggesting it will clear out the air in the system. I come home and turn the heating down a bit and now I have no hot water. Again I was better off fixing myself. What am I paying for monthly? Extremely frustrating to have to pay for a service and then receive disservice.

Daylight Robbery. AVOID!

Needed a plumber to my toilet which was constantly trickling water and hissing. When I phoned, I asked about prices and was told it was £154 per hour and could I give my card details over the phone. I refused and said I would pay the plumber on completion. All seemed OK at first, given ETA and kept well informed, plumber running late etc etc. Scott arrived at 1840hrs, found the problem straightaway, job completed 1842hrs. He then spent 15 mins on his phone discussing a problem with his boss. There was a mix-up of engineers attending wrong jobs or not turning up; closing jobs down; opening jobs up and eventually giving me a price for my job.... £184.80!!!! For a 2 minute job I was charged for a full hour, PLUS VAT, and this allegedly included an OAP discount! The plumber, Scott was very apologetic and said he had nothing to do with pricing and his 'boss' on the phone said he didn't either - so who does??????? My experience was very stressful, very upsetting and I have been scammed good and proper. Disgraceful set up. STEER CLEAR!!

Over priced conning company

Over priced conning company, my 80 yr old mother called this company to repair a leaking toilet, told them it’s not urgent but needed doing, they were there within the hour, the parts needed were two rubber washes which the man had, he fitted them, it took 45 mins , he then told my mum it was £217 parts, labour & a call out fee, but it was not an emergency or out of normal working hours so therefore there shouldn’t be any call out fee, they then talked her into taking out insurance to cover the work done and any future work needed at £30 p/m, she later rang the company to cancel this policy which the lady told her “no problem, I’ll do it right away “ my mother thought that was that, but they took further payments out of her bank account she is still in the process of getting it back. we’ll see, stay away, plenty of good, honest plumbers out there.

Not A Local Company And Very Expensive

Beware they are not a local company and are a nightmare to get hold of if you have a query. I called the Leicester number and they were very keen to get the work trying to sell me on going contracts etc. The work was booked in and a very high price for the job at £154.80 for a boiler service but I needed it done urgently so went ahead. I am now hoping that the boiler does not breakdown for a improper job being done. The engineer turned up within the time specified and notification being sent about the expected arrival time, he arrived at 10:54 and departed at 11:07 which worked out at £11.91 per minute so not convinced a good job was done. Following the visit I did not receive the relevant documents and had to call the Leicester number again, I was on hold to nearly 3 hours and still did not get an answer. I ended up having to call the main Rightio number, 0330 333 4538, to get what I needed. I would say use them at your own risk, maybe it is just the Leicester office that has the issue but I will definitely not be using them again.

DIABOLICAL SERVICE

The repair (toilet cistern not filling) was prompt but did not work and caused wider problems (would not stop filling and flooded via overflow). Contacting Rightio was impossible - never answered phone - no response to e-mails. This outfit is diabolical. NEVER USE THEM.

EXPENSIVE AND DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND

Quick to come out at first, engineer was brilliant at explaining the problem and part needed, I ordered the part which arrived 2 days later. They phoned and arranged to fit the part, cancelled twice last minute . Lied saying they were waiting for the part, then lied saying it was due to the time it takes to fit the part, when it took 20 mins to fit. Left a 5 month old with no heating for over a week! Advertised 24/7 but only 1 engineer in North West! Engineer was brilliant but customer service was horrendous! Only arranged to come out sooner when I mentioned consumer rights act and their terms and conditions! EXPENSIVE AND DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!

STAY AWAY – Rightio tried to blackmail me into replacing an in-perfect-working-order boiler

They tried to hard-sell me a service plan when I called to arrange for the service of our boiler, even though I repeatedly said I was not interested. I had to interrupt to get him to stop. The “engineer” sent by Rightio to service the boiler, tried to BLACKMAIL me into buying a new boiler from him with him installing it. He told me he will condemn our existing (in perfect working order) boiler, after he looked at it for no more than one second once the metal casing was off. He did not touch the boiler once the cover was off. He said he will condemn it and turn the gas off, then we will be without heating and hot water. However if we let him sell us a now Glow-worm boiler and let him install it, he will leave this ”condemned” boiler running, until he is able to replace it. He tried to hard-sell me into replacing our boiler because, it is more than 10 years old and they may not be able to get the parts needed. He told me without servicing or testing it, just my looking at it, the burner, heat exchanger and metal casing, has to be replaced. The boiler still looks brand new ! These were all lies to try to scare me into getting a new boiler, that is blackmail in my book! I decided due to the cost of a new boiler, he should rather try to get the parts to “repair” it. He was not happy with my decision but he said they would call me back the next day to say if they were able to find the parts. Once this rogue tradesman left (his hard selling was persistent and I could not think clearly while he was here), I decided to get a second opinion because, the boiler worked perfectly and still looked brand new. I called Rightio and told them to hold-off with ordering the parts, because I wanted to get a second opinion. The woman on the phone sounded annoyed with me and she told me I would still be charged for the service of the boiler !?! I told her again what they guy did (nothing), that he did NOT service the boiler, to which she responded that they are going to charge me for the “diagnoses”. The guy did NOTHING, he “condemned” the boiler the moment to took off the cover. I think he saw the SSE sticker on the cover showing they serviced the boiler on 26/03/2014, which is over 11 years ago. When I told the woman I was going to give them a bad review, she only them told me that should I get a different diagnoses, they will give me a full refund. I have been struggling to get the refund, so I passed it to my Credit Card company to get. What I have since found out about ‘Rightio’: A) There is a reason why they take your credit card information in advance. They can and do then take any amount of money they want from your credit card, it is then up to you to try to get it refunded. B) They never sent an invoice or receipt even though they took money from our credit card. C) They do not trade under the same name or use the phone number registered with Gas Safe. They use slightly different company names on different websites, and different phone numbers, on different websites and advertisements. THIS IS NOT A ‘LOCAL’ COMPANY. D) I called Rightio without success many times since 26-11-2025 after we had the “condemned” boiler serviced by a honest gas engineer, to get the promised refund. They did not answer any of their numbers until today (02-12-2025) but, I noticed they were still getting only good reviews on the ‘Reviews’ website they link to on their website. (They never asked me to review them.) E) I think they flag phone numbers as 'avoid' (do not answer) when there is a problem with that customer. The conversation on 02-12-2025 showed me them not answering, was not an accident. He knew who I was, I did not need to introduce myself. I think they knew they had scammed me and flagged my number as 'avoid'. I got the impression the guy was not interested in what I had to say, I also found him to be insulting. F) This guy said : “it is advised to replace a boiler older than 10 years”. Nobody else has ever said that especially when there is nothing wrong with it. It just happens this boiler is 18 years old. If it was up to these crooks, the replacement boiler would already be 8 years old and they would be wanting to replace it, in two years from now! G) After this phone call we realised these guys (the company) are not to be trusted and they are going to try to drag the refund out until I forget or give up. We have now passed the matter on to our Credit Card company to sort out: Job reference number 7289824. H) Rightio OVERCHARGE. They said they were going to charge £150 plus vat for servicing/diagnosing the boiler, but took £154.80, for doing NOTHING. A honest gas engineer serviced the same "condemned" boiler, actually took bits out and cleaned them, and cleaned one of the jets of the gas hob, all for £107.70. I) WARNING to OAPs - these guys target OAPs ! J) WARNING to all - DO NOT TELL THEM OR LET THEM SEE, IF YOUR BOILER IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD. THEY WILL CONDEMN IT DUE TO AGE.

RIGHTIO ROGUES

I had a leak from the stop tap in the kitchen and found this company through a local magazine - very misleading as I discovered later that they were not local to me at all but based in Birmingham, despite calling a local number. The engineer arrived a couple of days later (despite initially being booked in for the same day) and in less than a minute refused to undertake any work as he said he could not gain enough access to do the job saying "I don't do cupboards" - he took longer to park his van!. Despite this, I was still charged over £160 for a "diagnosis" - one that I had made! As the leak was getting worse, I contacted another plumber who came out within a couple of hours and fixed the issue promptly and without any issues. Despite asking for a refund from Rightio as absolutely no work was carried out, I had to wait over 2 weeks for a reply to emails and phone calls and have finally been refused a refund, with the company saying they always challenge any action taken against them - sounds like a regular occurrence. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - if you take the time to read the reviews, you will see that they are like a rash all over the internet - even appearing on national TV on The One Show!

Absolutely appalling service

Absolutely appalling service. Two nights waiting in and no engineer turned up, no phone call to explain they were not coming, no messages. On Friday night they said they weren’t able to come out until Monday leaving us with no hot water for four days!! Cancelled the job! Communication awful, unreliable and would advise all to avoid this company.

A Caring Warning About Rightio Plumbers (Hagley Road, Oldbury)

I feel genuinely compelled to warn others about the experience an elderly neighbour of mine— a gentleman in his 90s — recently had with Rightio Plumbers. What happened to him could easily happen to someone else, especially vulnerable customers, and it doesn’t sit right with me to stay quiet. To begin with, he was charged £144 for a call-out fee, which he was not told about beforehand. His family were then chased for the payment afterwards. For a fee that high, you would expect a clear written diagnosis of the issue or at least some meaningful detail about the work required. Instead, the entire Job Sheet contained just two phrases: • “New appliances needed.” • “Customer refused quote.” That was it. No explanation of what these “new appliances” were. No actual description of the problem. No breakdown of costs. My neighbour had to get his family to phone the company simply to find out what the engineer had meant. According to him, he was told verbally that “the job” would cost over £1,000, yet none of this was put in writing. All the engineer documented was that he had “refused the quote.” Even more concerning, those same two vague phrases were copied and pasted into all three sections of the Job Sheet — the parts where they should have recorded details of the visit, the diagnosis, and any parts or labour. So please be aware: • If you don’t proceed with their (very expensive) quote, they will still charge you £144. • And for that money, you may receive little more than a couple of meaningless phrases and no real diagnosis to work with. As a neighbour who cares about protecting others from this kind of treatment, I strongly recommend avoiding Rightio Plumbers. There are many reputable, transparent local plumbers — sadly, this company has not shown itself to be one of them.
