Extremely Disappointing Experience with JUCY – Safety & Hygiene Concerns Ignored Unfortunately fell far below the standards we expected, especially having had a great experience hiring in the past. From the outset, the vehicle presented multiple serious issues: Rear Suspension: Constant squeaking that made us question the safety and roadworthiness of the van. Black Mould: There were visible mould stains and patches of black mould inside the vehicle. Completely unacceptable in any rental, and downright dangerous for my partner, who has a respiratory condition and is highly sensitive to mould. Rear Doors: Both rear doors were extremely difficult to open, adding to our frustrations. We contacted your after-hours support line on Day 1 and requested a vehicle swap. We were not advised that this was even an option, leaving us stuck with a substandard and potentially unsafe vehicle for the entire trip. When returning the van, we again raised our concerns and were told by your staff that we should be entitled to compensation. We’re still awaiting confirmation on this. They also mentioned that mould stains are to be expected in a vehicles in Cairns. This experience was both disappointing and unacceptable, not just due to the condition of the vehicle, but the lack of support we received during the hire. We sincerely hope JUCY takes this feedback seriously. We will not be hiring from JUCY again unless there is a clear improvement in vehicle maintenance, hygiene, and customer care.

Too stressful to enjoy our holiday

The vehicles available are in a shocking and unsafe condition. We had to change vehicle halfway through our trip and only receives a measly sum in compensation. We have since been charged for an AA call out with a dead battery. The battery had to be replaced two days after this callout. The mechanic, upon seeing the battery, highlighted that this was in fact the wrong battery for the vehicle! Please avoid!

A Near-Death Experience – Do NOT Rent from JUCY

We put our trust in JUCY when we hired a campervan for a winter trip through New Zealand, expecting a roadworthy vehicle that could handle the harsh seasonal conditions. What we got instead was a complete disaster that nearly cost us our lives. From day one, the van proved to be dangerously unfit for the road. We lost control multiple times on straight, de-iced roads — and it wasn’t just us. A local road worker pulled us aside to tell us flat out: this vehicle should never have been on the road. That’s not just disappointing — that’s criminal negligence. The mechanical and structural issues were endless: The roof leaked, soaking our bed and sleeping gear. The hose for draining grey water was broken, leaving us stuck with stagnant waste. The shower was completely non-functional. Worst of all: there was a GAS LEAK. That’s not just an inconvenience — that’s a serious, potentially deadly hazard. This wasn’t just a bad experience. It ruined our trip. We had no choice but to cut it short and return home early after what can only be described as a near-death experience. JUCY’s negligence, lack of maintenance, and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable. Do not trust JUCY with your safety or your holiday. They clearly do not inspect or care for their vehicles properly. This company is an absolute disgrace and should be held accountable before someone actually dies.

Overall avoid!

Pros - Cheapest big company van rental (but you get what you pay for), staff are friendly, with the extra insurance check out and in very easy and quick (in hindsight too quick didn't really tell us how to make the bed etc), they paid for a replacement gasmate bbq when ours broke, you can stand up in the van Cons - very poor build quality and space lay-out. The van is massive but they utilise the space so so poorly. No clothes storage. No bin. Gas BBQ is in a box you have to take out every time (unlike other vans we have rented where its just a pull out draw. Bed is a massive massive faff to make everything. It involves removing a 3 part table and then rearranging loads of cushions before putting a sheet on. Again other vans just utilise the space way way better!

Terrible company and horrible customer service

If I could give this company a zero I would. AVOID Myself and my partner rented the Star rv Polaris 2 for a week in Feb 2025. The air con unit in the cabin and the gas cooker did not work from when we initially picked it up. This became a problem from the second night onward and trying to get through to customer service was a complete waste of time. The most unhelpful service assistants I have ever dealt with. One lady who will remain anonymous took our call in the early afternoon of Monday the 17th and promised to call us back the following morning as "air con repair" in our area which was Coffs Harbour at the time was not open. She never called us back the next day so I rang again the following morning and another lady got us a late afternoon apointment at 3pm in renovan 20 mins outside of Byron Bay. We went to the appointment and were told to come back at 9:30am the next morning and were then told it could take a day or 2 minimum to be fixed and due to the fact of only having the campervan for a week found this a complete waste of our own time and a disgrace on the companies behalf. Long story short I would advise anyone looking for a campervan rental in Australia for the East coast in particular to avoid this company. I recieved a call from a manager at this company who was the only person who actually helped. He did compensate us for this but the amount in my opinion was too little (40% off day rates) but I did not argue as he was polite and I just wanted to be finished with it. A true disappointment of an experience.

Désastreux

Fuyez cette enseigne de location Le van qui nous a été attribué avait 301000km au compteur : sièges défoncés, fenêtres qui n'étaient pas étanches, évier bouché, voyant des freins qui s'est allumé pendant notre périple. Les services pour lesquels nous avions payés n'ont pas été honorés : bouteille de gaz vide, pas de GPS, prises USB hors service, L'équipe d'accueil en sous effectif : attente trop longue que ce soit pour prendre le van mais aussi lors de la restitution. Responsable de l'agence qui fait l'autruche et qui ne prend pas le temps de faire de mail suite aux problèmes rencontrés

Corolla on a budget!

I rented a Corolla from Gold Coast Airport for six weeks. As a bang for bucks proposition don't look further. They were a pleasure to deal with. The car was on the older side but well maintained and far superior then any new MG or the like! I cannot recommend enough!

Don’t spend youre money on JUCY!!

Don’t spend you’re money on JUCY!!! We were very disappointed about Jucy. We had high expectations, but non of them came true. In Christchurch we picked up our van. We had to wait the whole day to get the van, it was not ready they said. There were 6 other people waiting for their van that day. The umployees were rude and stressy. By time when we got the van it was not well cleaned, very old and a lot of thing were broken. We did write an E-mail to Jucy about our complains and issues. But it took a few days when we got an answer. They did not come up with a proper solution, only that we can go to a cleaner. But we cleaned the van ourselves already. In the last week after a lot of emailing (we had the van for five weeks) they told us we can go to a repairer. And they said that we could buy a new chair and gassburner ourselves. (They were also broken). We didn’t do that because it would take us a lot of time. (We did survive it already for four weeks….) Besides all this we got a little accident with a another vehicle. We called the Jucy emergency number directly (many times) and they didn’t pick up the phone. After emailing we got an answer back the next day. So if you would love to hire a broken, gross and very old van from a company that you cannot reach and with a lots of waiting time : THEN BOOK A JUCY! HAVE FUN……

Managed without principles and money grabbing

Van is nice modern and comfortable. Some mechanical issue but nothing major. Dealing with the company if you have any issues or changes is a different story. Jucy is impossible to reach/talk to a person in call or email. Sent around in circles on auto call with no one picking up and emails left unanswered unless you continuously follow up or try reach through other channels. This already starts any interaction if you are able to get through eventually in a very frustrated manner. Rented van for 10 day period. Worked very hard cleaning thoroughly in the last days. Including emptying all the tanks, scrubbing cassete compartment and cleaning out cassete. On handover we were then charged for alleged "tanks not emptied". On finally reaching them in call, received a dismissive, argumentative and repetitive response from rep. Refusal review our perspective and repeating the same response "tanks were not emptied" and deteriorated into argumentative back and forth with unyielding stance on the matter. They have then sent some proof of them emptying a cassete timestamped a day after the charge. The fact that they fabricated proof and implied that I am lying about the work I put in cleaning and emptying. This fabrication of proof is unprincipled business practice and scammy. It's not so much the money or the work we put in cleaning but principle of them desperately resorting to unfounded money grabbing tactics on customers already paying multiple thousands of AUD for what's meant to be a holiday experience and receiving this sort of treatment. Left a bitter taste and no recourse.

3 week rental Jan-Feb 2025

3 week rental Jan-Feb 2025. Pick up went badly - booked to pick up 9:30am didn't get van till 4pm Staff in Christchurch tried their best but understaffed & overworked Van had numerous issues including mechanical problems but no replacement available so had to nurse it through till end of rental. Staff in Auckland also overworked & understaffed. Post COVID Jucy has grown too fast & can't keep up with demand. Vans not getting proper checks & fixes before being sent back out. Rented from them in 2013 as well but 2025 definitely a worse experience & wouldn't recommend them until they've fixed staffing & servicing issues.

Wouldn't book with them again

Long wait both to drop off and pick up, echoing what others have said understaffed and kept asking for updates when picking up (as we had a tour booked and needed to leave) and no updates and overhead it was because there was mould in our van. Fridge absolutely stank as well, buttons missing from curtains, really old hard to drive automatic and generally didn't seem to care at all when we gave feedback in person and wouldn't do anything for us or offer some compensation when we complained because we didn't complain on the day it happened (even though we were then in a rush because of the delays!). Overheard a poor guy had been waiting 4 hours with his family in there for his van when we dropped ours off and staff didn't really do much to help. Badly run operation, van was OK on the road and grand to sleep in but couldn't keep anything in the fridge because of the smell transferring to items in there too! Would never go with them again, so spend your money on a better quality service company!

NON À JUCY

Pour faire simple. Voici la liste des problèmes. - Réfrigérateur non fonctionnel - Le rétroviseur extérieur gauche ne reste pas fixé pendant la conduite - La camionnette n'a pas d'électricité même avec 5 heures de conduite et ne fonctionne pas non plus lorsqu'elle est chargée sur le secteur. (Le socket USB x5 ne fonctionne pas) - La radio + GPS ne fonctionnent pas (ne fonctionnent que pendant 48 heures) - Le joint des deux portes coulissantes n'est pas étanche sous la pluie. - Les fenêtres de la partie supérieure de la camionnette ne sont pas étanches sous la pluie. - Stockage suspendu défectueux - Pressions manquantes sur les rideaux. - Le verrouillage central ne fonctionne pas. En conclusion, le service est très décevant. Mon ami et moi sommes très mécontents parce que nous avons choisi de prendre une camionnette pour 4 personnes pour plus de confort et finalement une voiture aurait offert les mêmes services. À cet égard, nous aimerions un geste commercial ou même un remboursement, le contact service client est en enfer, heureusement que je suis passé par une agence, c’est l’agence qui s’est battu pour nous avoir un remboursement de 20%. (C’est mieux que rien). NE PRENEZ PAS JUCY, j’ai vraiment gâché une parti de mon road trip à cause d’eux ! J’ai voyagé avec d’autre compagnies par la suite de mon Road trip « Spaceship » ou encore « Eurocamper » extraordinaire, allez y sans hésiter !!

I rented an RV from juicy

I rented an RV from juicy. When I arrived it took 45 minutes just to get out the door as they did not track my deposit paid on their accounting system. During the trip there were several issues including: empty gas bottles in the van so no working appliances, the shower door fell off while driving, the fridge was not working, the gas stove was broken and I had to spend a few hours at a service centre to repair it. The cleanliness was questionable, all the locks on the outdoor key access locks were nearly impossible to open, the air conditioning was only intermittently working and the reverse camera was impacted so not working well. I have followed up several times for compensation and a month later they are now ignoring my emails for resolution.

Jucy arnaque

Bonjour, Nous louons actuellement un van Jucy et avons des gros problèmes. Déjà 3 passages dans leurs sites afin de pouvoir « réparer le véhicule » mais sans succès. Cela nous a bien évidement coûté du temps et changements d’itinéraire. Nous avons demandé un changement de véhicule et bien évidement une compensation, mais ils ont disparu. Plus de réponse de leur part. Il nous reste environ 10 jours sur le territoire et nous souhaitons faire le maximum pour alerter les autorités ainsi que les personnes qui s’apprêtent à louer chez Jucy. Quels sont vos conseils? Dans tous les cas nous comptons en parler dans tous les réseaux. Il faut que cette information arrive le plus loin possible. C’est une arnaque! Merci d’avance.
