Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Ordered 2 inner tubes online and paid…

Ordered 2 inner tubes online and paid ready for collection only to be phoned shortly afterwards by the collection store to be told they were no longer in stock due to them probably being stolen, refund was authorised. Ordered a £1400 cycle and was given a collection time, the store phoned me a day early and told me it was ready to collect and they really didn't want it hanging around in case it got scratched or damaged, Arrived to collect and nobody was on the cycle counter so I went to the checkout, I was told the cycle person was in the back doing something and if he wasn't out in 5 minutes they'd let him know I was here, bike was not ready as I'd been told, it was still in mid build, cycle chap was not out in 5 minutes and when I went back cash desk she said she'd now go and tell him I was here. Absolutely shocking service, spend £1400 get told to collect early and it's not ready and customer facing staff can't be bothered, I only dread to think what state the actual bike will be in when I go back to collect, it doesn't bode well.

If I could give zero stars I really…

If I could give zero stars I really would! I recently visited the Basingstoke store to have my headlight bulbs changed as they had both gone at the same time. I entered the store at 7.30pm and there was was a Q. I spoke to 2 members of staff to explain that I had an emergency and need to get to hospital as instructed my a doctor for my 2 year old and they said no problem have a seat and we will get a fitter to help you. I waited and then spoke to another member of staff and said no problem we will get someone to change them. A couple of minutes later a member of staff came over with some baskets and asked are they for me? I said no I’m waiting to get some lights changed so I can go to hospital. He said well I’m not doing it now! I replied well your colleagues said I could ge then done as I said I had to ge to hospital. He asked who and I explained. He then said well I’m not doing it you should have come in 10 minutes earlier! I then replied I had been waiting a while and he said well not my problem! So I said I need to get my son to hospital (who I had in my arms) I said what am I suppose do?! He said I don’t know call the AA! I said are you being serious?! I need to get to hospital and don’t have any family in Basingstoke and he just walked off!!!! He colleague heard what had happened and ran after him. The colleague came back and said he will change them for you. 5 minutes later he rude man came over and had a face like thunder and a miserable attitude even though I said I appreciated the help. He said it’s not ideal! Even though I have reached out to Halfords customer service twice and have a reference number/ was told they had contacted the store I have had zero contact. Who would stop someone especially a child getting medical attention?! So many people who I have spoken to are equally as shocked as I am! I will not be returning to this store or Halfords ever again They either 1) don’t care 2) it was the store manager

Site designed to stop simple returns

I bought windscreen wipers online using Halfords match your number plate to product you need. Wipers arrived fast but didn't fit. Fair enough - return them and get right ones second time. Well no. No returns info on the sire or on the package. Odd. After some online searching find I should chat of 'expert assistant' to discuss online. Ooh I'm second in queue straight away. But of no - virtual assistant. How do i return an item? "I don't understand the question" Can I speak to a human? "I don't understand the question" Time already wated greatly exceeds value of wipers and still stuck with wrong wipers. Advice Halfords are giving me - never use Halfords.

Bromborough Halfords…

Had a complaint to Bromborough Halfords after a previous paid service. Two young staff (Charlie and I think Matty) were friendly and aiming to find a solution. They truely stopped this from escalating and becoming hostile. Charlie spent some time helping me find the transaction as the shop was quiet, and Matty investigated under my bonnet. We were able to resolve and fix the issue and in the meantime I spent money at the till smellling air fresheners. (Which I had no previous intention of doing). I was relieved and happy of the help from these lads. Older moody man (I think Tim) came down from upstairs and insisted on serving me for the air freshener questioning me why I was here and what else I needed to pay for, despite Matty had conducted an air con health check (which is free anyway) He made a few attempts to push me into paying and putting me on the spot… but I was not the right “vulnerable woman with a baby” to try con a quick quid out of. One of the lads ended the interaction with “if you have any more issues, pop back” to which Tim overruled “no, go to a garage” in a very red flag tone. I saw the young lads mask a “professional face” but were awkward inside. I wish I’d questioned this more at the time. I asked the lad if there was a problem, and he professionally said no, but I could see he was about to get a lecture after I left. I was ready to slate Halfords and never to return on my way in… but I don’t believe a negative scene solves anything. but because of Charlie and Matty, I was reassured that mistakes happen, and they rectified it, replacing my faith in the Halfords brand. Tim however, needs a bit of training on customer relations. He would have tried to charge me (in the benefit of store takings) which I would not of paid out of principle and got their mistake fixed elsewhere. I also would have made sure family, friends and colleagues did not use Halfords again. Charlie and Matty actually made some money out of me as a customer, and protected the brand reputation. Take a lesson from the youngens! Tim’s attitude screamed “manager” however he doesn’t appear to manage situations well. I really hope the lads get the recognition they deserve! If his bully attitude continued with a grilling after I left, then you’re honestly better reviewing his status and pay check. Thank you lads !

1 star because I can't give zero

Halfords offers a range of bike servicing and repair, bookable online. I booked my 12pm silver service for £60 at Halfords in Hamilton. On arrival I explained it would probably need some parts. Was told we can't do any repairs as we don't have a technician and have a months backlog of repairs. Also we can't do your service until 1pm. I opted for a refund because 1) I booked it for 12 not 1. 2) If you can't do follow up repairs what is the point of getting a service and 3) if there's no technician what unqualified person is doing this service, I'd be as well doing it myself. Useless service and a complete waste of my time.

Disgraceful rude staff

Disgraceful rude staff! The staff member named "JAKE" I can’t believe you would speak to your customer in such a rude & sarcastic manner! The incident took place around 10am 10.30am on 21/05/25 My complaint is going direct to your head office. I went in store to collect my numberplate, once I left, I got to my car and noticed there’s no holes drilled in the plate to fit this? So I went back in to ask the person who served me, He directed me to the back of the store where I was left waiting, when I explained to JAKE staff member, he had a grin on his face and said.. Yea mate! that's how they come and handed it back to me! I replied how am I meant to fit this without holes? Jake replied. That's how they come its common knowledge, surely you understand that! No I do not understand why you would give customers custom numberplates that are incomplete and can’t be fitted without precision measurements accurate drilling through metal before I could actual fit my numberplate! Jakes reply, surely you must have a drill at home do it yourself! again grinning & laughing at me! At this point I was left feeling humiliated and stressed by the sarcastic ignorance by your staff member! So I asked why this wouldn't be stated when making the purchase? Or at least asked if wanted holes in my numberplate at the point of purchase? And Jake, Laughing and repeating its common knowledge mate! So asked for a refund just to be told.. Nah mate! that's not how this works.

Never again

Never again! If I could give no stars I would. Took tyre in for checking…can’t be repaired they said it’s a run flat. Ordered a run flat tyre and took it back first swapping oh you’ve ordered the wrong tyre your car doesn’t have run flats! Ordered another. Supposed to be getting £15 gift card for the inconvenience. Phoned every day for over 2 weeks and they always say it’s been sent but nothing in my inbox or junk. What a complete waste of time this company avoid.

Well done Billy...We had a mobile tyre replacement…

We had a mobile tyre replacement service attend our house last Saturday for 2 new front tyres. The young man who attended was called Billy and he was so lovely. He was friendly and very professional. He got the job done expertly and very quickly and had a smile on him the whole time. Just wanted to say thanks and a job well and professionally done.

Ashford Kent Employee

Went in to get a bike for my daughter for her birthday, Blake I believe his name was couldn’t be more helpful and patient with her as she went through multiple bikes to find the right one. He constantly measured her up and advised us on how long it would last her as she grows. Really top top service. This was in ashford Kent Halfords. I don’t know if there’s any incentives but please give this employee recognition for his great work!
