Bromborough Halfords…
Had a complaint to Bromborough Halfords after a previous paid service. Two young staff (Charlie and I think Matty) were friendly and aiming to find a solution. They truely stopped this from escalating and becoming hostile. Charlie spent some time helping me find the transaction as the shop was quiet, and Matty investigated under my bonnet. We were able to resolve and fix the issue and in the meantime I spent money at the till smellling air fresheners. (Which I had no previous intention of doing). I was relieved and happy of the help from these lads. Older moody man (I think Tim) came down from upstairs and insisted on serving me for the air freshener questioning me why I was here and what else I needed to pay for, despite Matty had conducted an air con health check (which is free anyway) He made a few attempts to push me into paying and putting me on the spot… but I was not the right “vulnerable woman with a baby” to try con a quick quid out of. One of the lads ended the interaction with “if you have any more issues, pop back” to which Tim overruled “no, go to a garage” in a very red flag tone. I saw the young lads mask a “professional face” but were awkward inside. I wish I’d questioned this more at the time. I asked the lad if there was a problem, and he professionally said no, but I could see he was about to get a lecture after I left. I was ready to slate Halfords and never to return on my way in… but I don’t believe a negative scene solves anything. but because of Charlie and Matty, I was reassured that mistakes happen, and they rectified it, replacing my faith in the Halfords brand. Tim however, needs a bit of training on customer relations. He would have tried to charge me (in the benefit of store takings) which I would not of paid out of principle and got their mistake fixed elsewhere. I also would have made sure family, friends and colleagues did not use Halfords again. Charlie and Matty actually made some money out of me as a customer, and protected the brand reputation. Take a lesson from the youngens! Tim’s attitude screamed “manager” however he doesn’t appear to manage situations well. I really hope the lads get the recognition they deserve! If his bully attitude continued with a grilling after I left, then you’re honestly better reviewing his status and pay check. Thank you lads !
