Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

My wife purchased a premier membership…

My wife purchased a premier membership just two years ago, purchased a couple of things including a car battery with a 4 year warranty, twice this battery has failed in which Halfords charged it up overnight & told me it was ok, 3 months later same happened just no good. Called the AA whereas I was informed the battery was no good and told me to return it to them for a replacement battery. On taking this back a second time I was told I needed either a receipt with proof of purchase or the report from the AA. As I am 120 miles from home & my wife is being treated for bone marrow cancer in the end I bought another battery to save wasting more time with this jumped up reprobate firm, I was also told a pack of lies by them stating it was out of warranty which is rubbish and informed that their batteries stand on shelves for periods of time before purchase. Load of baloney this company second rate after sales this firm. Shop else where.

No problem buying, it’s the service after that’s the problem.

All went very well buying a bike it’s the after service that’s the issue. Had bike for around 4 months, something went wrong, took part that was broke back and was told it would be repaired. 5 days go by and hear nothing, call for update and get told the guy dealing with it will call back, no phone call. Use online chat to talk to an “expert” and get told to ring the store. What are you employing these people for? Judging by the majority of the reviews Halfords just completely fail on customer service or just don’t care? Next time I’ll spend the extra money and use a local bike shop. Avoid, like pretty much every other garbage high street store.

Bought a new ebike from Halfords that was covered under warranty. In less than a year the battery has broken and I’ve taken into the store twice to get it fixed under warranty but both times they said they will get back to me via email with details and they never did. I have been left chasing Halfords for two months now and my bike does not work as the battery is broken.

Bike booked but not seen

Bike booked in to get gears sorted. On arrival told they'd over booked so couldn't be seen at booked time. When I said that was fine was told that it would only get a free health check rather than doing what it had been booked for. Pointless taking a bike in

Frustrated Bike Purchase

I wanted to buy a £1,400 Boardman bike on the C2W scheme. My employer registered for the scheme with Halfords, but it took them over a week (with no delays by my employer or myself) to make the account available, issue the invoice, recognise the payment and move the status to the approval stage. On the day the approval notification was received, the cost of the bike increased (the 20% sale discount being removed) meaning that the amount approved no longer covered the cost. Halfords business C2W referred me to the retail section. They told me to go into the branch. I went into the shop, spoke with the assistant (who remembered me from the week before trying the bike for size and saying that I would buy it on the C2W scheme), who checked with the branch manager but was told that they wouldn't honour the discount that had been available up until the day before. They suggested making a complaint. The complaint was raised a few days ago but I've not had any response so far. In essence, Halfords just don't care!!

Can I give -5 starts please?!

Can I give -5 starts please? These people are horrid, no manners, rude and presumably taught by management not to give customers repairs, replacements or(God forbid!)refunds. I bought a car battery from Halfords in Croydon recently and it stopped working after about 9 months. It would not hold a charge anymore and it refuses to charge up, no matter how long it is left on a charger. I went to the shop, naively hoping to get some help. Shop staff tested it and I was told that the battery was fine and they would not be able to help me under warranty. They kept saying I need to charge the battery, despite me telling them that I did try to. They said that there must be something wrong with the charger. I went away without being offered a repair or replacement. I bought a new charger and tried to charge it again. 3 days later, the battery still was not charged. I went back to the shop and this time asked to speak to a manager. This guy Mickael(he would not give me his surname, despite me asking about 3 times) tried the same tricks on me, saying that the battery was fine and that maybe my charger did not work. I asked for a repair, he said they don't do that. I asked them to try charging the battery themselves, to see that it did not work. He said that they can't do that. I asked for a replacement, he said they won't give me one, as there was nothing wrong with the battery. I asked to be given a repair, replacement or refund under my statutory rights. He said he didn't know what those were and that he couldn't give me anything under warranty, as there was nothing wrong with the battery!!! The guy was incredible, he even told me to lower my voice when I became upset at his incredibly rude attitude. I would never ever buy anything from these scammers ever, in my life. I hope they go out of business soon. Nobody should be allowed to give people such incredibly bad, disgusting customer dis-service.

Do NOT use

Absolutely disgusting customer service. Drove over a screw while carrying out a major service on my car, leaving me with a flat tyre. Complete mess of a system with different sites with little to no control over employees. Took three days and four in-person visits at two different sites to get my issue fixed. Ended up removing my own wheel and taking it to be fixed and putting it back on myself. Dangerous suggestions to drive my car with a totally flat tyre to the garage a number of times by multiple employees. Was treated in a disgusting manner by staff, completely resistant to take any responsibility or help fix the issue. Complete waste of money, caused a lot of undue stress and concern. Definitely would not recommend.
