Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

We booked an AIRCON GAS Recharge

Appealed -5* if choice was available. We booked an AIRCON GAS Recharge. Website booked on Car registration and applied discounts to the cart. First booked at a centre, but cancelled due to not being able to do it as they were next to a petrol station. Choose another centre, was informed, not available there, even though listed on the website. Finally got to a centre and was told not paid enough for the type of gas, even though the system works it out automatically from the car registration number. Offered £ 10 in a voucher or a free MOT voucher. I am a fully paid member of Halfords, what's the benefit ?? Oh, and also, 12 days still no refund for the original Air Con regas never done, even though promised a refund in 2/3 days

Terrible Service

I booked a mobile service fitting for a specific time of 12-4 on Friday. Which I paid more for. This was because I had a complete flat tyre so I could not take it to a garage like I usually do. At 2pm I am called to say that it is cancelled due to a broken down van. I was told they could not possibly rebook until Tuesday and the refund would not be in place for 3-5 working days. I am not without my car for 4 more days and do not cave the money to pay someone else to come and fix my tyre. Halfords did not care, would not try and fit me in at all. Would not send someone from another area to accommodate, would not transfer me to speak to somebody higher. What terrible customer service and what a terrible company.

Having to chase and chase a refund

I ordered a toddler bike seat that was not in stock at the closest store so ordered it for pick-up at another store. When I got there, I was told there was an error and they did not actually have it. They said they would process a refund (onto the gift card that I paid with) and that I would get an email confirming this. I had to call customer service the a few days later and they said to give it up to 5 days. I'm not sure why it could take 5 days to process a refund back to their gift card system. Five days later and I had to call customer service again, who have now said they will get back to me within 72 hours. Those 72 hours came and went and had to call again to be told they are labelling this as urgent. It's now been 13 days since the refunds was supposedly put through for an item that should have been available for me to collect anyway.

I went into my local store at Westwood cross to find out about a bike carrier for my e bike. I spoke to a young lady called Emma who explained what I would need for my bike. She was very helpful and reassured me on what I need to do. I was very pleased with my experience. Excellent customer service!

I have always regarded Halfords as a quality outlet and have sourced many motoring parts, tools and accessories from them. I placed an order online with them at Easter and the order was delivered in good time with the exception of one item. Over the last month I have used their BOT, their online 'Expert' and spoken to the call centre 3 times. I eventually had an acknowledgement from a member of their customer support team who acknowledged they hadn't delivered the item and they indicated they had ordered me a replacement. Two weeks on and I've still not received the item. Speaking to them today was immensely frustrating. I've been told I will get an email within 24 hours.... if you're reading this Halfords, you are not customer focused at all and looking at other reviews on here you need to get a grip.

Please can you arrange for me to come in to your work shop to have the nuts tightened properly ASAP And to discuss how I should word my feedback Please call me on 07733101037 to discuss , not too early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went to Halffauds and brought a new…

Went to Halffauds and brought a new battery for my daughters car , we used them because they told us about their wonderful 4 year's warranty blah blah blah... anyway that was July 24...it's now May 25 and the battery is as dead as dead gets the AA advised me not to worry as it's got a 4 year warranty written on the battery and he could clearly see the battery looked almost brand new.. so I found my receipt and went to halfrauds to get my new battery... they tested it and said yes the battery is dead but it's failed the warranty test I asked why and he said we don't make the batteries we just sell them and yes that's our name on the battery but the company who made it have said no so there's absolutely nothing we can do about it... he then proceeds to tell me do I not know how warranty's work? I explained that I don't care I brought the battery from halfrauds and that it was based purely on the fact we got a 4 year warranty sold to us from the employee .... there was no arguing with him apparently the computer said No... and that was that??? The car was driven by my daughter every day until she brought a new car it then sat on the drive for two weeks until we insured it and gave it to our son who's been driving it for over two months... I'm absolutely disgusted with the level of service I've just witnessed and the guy who I delt with was being calm by being the most Patronising person I've ever delt with I'll never use Halfrauds again...another company who will take your money but don't stand by there word... this was the Staines branch be warned!

Very poorly run company.

I needed a rear wiper blade for my car. I went to their website but couldn't find one listed, so I tried phoning, an automated voice referred me to the website and cleared the line. I tried phoning again and eventually managed to speak to someone who sounded like he was in Outer Mongolia. He said he couldn't find one and told me to go to a store and see if they had any. The nearest Halfords to me closed some time ago. What an inefficient, hopeless company Halfords is now.

My local Halford (Corby) is great

My local Halford (Corby) is great - really helpful. No little thing to get an issue sorted is too much. To be honest - the Kettering branch and Newbury where I used to live are exactly the same. Its great. I really like to shop somewhere that I don't feel like they think I'm a pratt if I ask a dumb question

Helpful Experts for Cycling and Motoring

Always a pleasure to visit the cycling dept at the Putney Road store, Leicester. All the staff really helpful, especially Arran who is extremely knowledgeable. Also thanks to Jordan who resolved a minor issue free of charge. In the main store, Marcin was extremely helpful providing advice on fitting a car battery I purchased from Halfords. It's the highest level of customer service which makes Halfords the only place I would buy a bike and my first stop when shopping for tools and vehicle accessories
