EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

Purchased the product

Purchased the product, great service when buying and installing. Product failed 10 months later, I am still waiting 2 months later for it to be fixed. Failed appointments with no call, faulty part which was left at my house. Service is awful, rude responses on email, no escalation available over the phone, the list goes on. Please take notice and save yourself a lot of grief.

"The Perfect Experience Every Time" NOT!!!!!!!

"The Perfect Experience Every Time" - This is what EWT state on their website. They obviously overestimate the quality of their work. My annual service was booked on a particular date, I made work arrangements to be available during the allocated time slot - nobody showed up and I was not contacted about the mishap. I called EWT. The agent said that she would investigate and follow up with me by emil/phone.........she did not. I received a text the following day with a new slot. After the guy left, I discovered that there was now a leak from our kitchen sink. I called EWT and was told that they would follow up.....they did not. I phoned again and was told that they would follow up....they did not. I phoned a third time and was told that someone would call at midday the following day, leaving me with a leak for almost 24 hours, which necessitated having to mop up water every time I used my tap in the interim, not an easy task with a toddler. Then I received a text to say that, rather than midday, the engineer would call between 11am and 3.30. So much for midday. The single star is for the engineer, who was a lovely guy. I will be changing from EWT at some point. Don't open an account with them.

Incorrectly fitted and damaged our water system

We have had to call a plumber to deal with the damage caused by the water softener. He removed the water softener which had not been put in properly. This has been on a service plan for the entire time we had it. It did not have the overflow attached to anything. The crystals had gone into the entire water system and had stopped the washing machine from working. It has gone into the shower mechanism and we are hoping it will not fatally damage these. When I called I was told that "this happens" and "you've had chlorine in the water" "we put it in the terms". As chlorine is always present in the water this seems to be a ridiculous situation to blame. The product had been serviced only a few months prior to this happening and would have been evident at the time. We have never used the amount of salt we pay for. A total con.

Absolutely ATTROCIOUS service

Absolutely ATTROCIOUS service from this company. I have used them for many years but over the last few, service levels have really fallen. I have been let down by their two 'engineers' Asturas and Attila, and their customer service agents, Andrew and too many others to mention. I had a service in May by Asturas and he said he would order parts for the loud 'ticking noise' my softener is making. He did not. Attila was sent in June and he supposedly was going to do the same and did not. I called and called, no resolve. Andrew, one of the agents, said on 23 August that Attila will call me. He did not. I then received a message saying my case is closed. At £175 an annual service, it is not worth it to maintain the 'warranty'. The last time I use this company.

Terrible service

A delivery of salt was arranged for 8 September between 3.08 and 5.18 and I was informed at 4.30 that my delivery had to be rescheduled for a later date. Totally unacceptable. Don’t they arrange the deliveries to ensure that they have enough salt before they leave the depot.

Bad Customer Service

I’ve been a customer for over 10 years and stuck with them when they put up all there prices. Over the last couple of years the customer service level has plummeted. Have repeatedly emailed them with no response for various things. Example: Having to wait over eight months for salt that should’ve been delivered at the same time as the maintenance check. I have now come to the point we have issued an ultimatum give them five days to respond or I’ll be cancelling my direct debit and requesting a refund. Servicing is fine when you can get an appointment and the engineers do a very good job. But the stress of trying to contact them, get appointments booked and sort out problems just isn’t worth the service. The 2 stars is only for the engineer who has been to my house year after year. They make him travel 2 hours when another engineer lives 20 minutes away. Just shows the bad management they have now.

Stay away!

Their water softener is good so 1 star. The prices and customer service are outrageous! They won't tell you but you must service your water softener once a year and this service is expensive. They come for 20 min, look at it, change a filter (that you can get for free on their website) and they send you an invoice for £230 and call it "cost for running the business". They have no understanding or empathy, they threat you until you pay and threat you to make you pay more if you don't pay fast enough.
