It was very easy to use Centauro, which I and my familiy has done for more than 15 years. During the last two years the service has overall developed and the price for full cover insurance.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. The only way to get there from Madrid airport is with a shuttle( badly organized) and once we got there we had to wait hours in the sun in the queue.

una stella perchè meno non si può. sono imbarazzanti, servizio clienti ridicolo. Effettuato prenotazione online pagamento andato a buon fine ma la prenotazione no, quindi mi trovo ad aver pagato ma no ho nessun numero di prenotazione in mano. per fare reclamo devi compilare un form dove il numero di prenotazione è obbligatorio. ho doovuto contestare il pagamento al servizio clienti della mia carta di credito. Evitate questa società come la peste.

Finger weg

Finger weg! Bei Abholung des Autos war viel los und die Mitarbeiter dementsprechend kurz angebunden und unfreundlich. Von anderen Autovermietungen bin ich es gewohnt, gemeinsam mit einem Mitarbeiter das Auto in Empfang zu nehmen. Inkl. Erklärung und evtl. Dokumentation von bereits erfolgten Schäden. Ich bekam lediglich den Schlüssel auf den Tresen geknallt und musste das Auto selbst suchen. Bei der Abgabe dann die Abzocke: Mir wurde ein Schaden abgedichtet, den ich nicht verursacht habe. Und da ich leider keine Beweisfotos gemacht habe, wurden 270€ einbehalten. Das Personal, ebenfalls wieder kurz angebunden und unfreundlich, lies sich auf keine Diskussion ein. Nicht einmal ein Schadensbericht wurde mir ausgestellt. Nun hoffe ich auf Check24 und den Premiumschutz, um die Kosten zurück zu erhalten. Wie bereits in vorherigen Rezensionen geschrieben: Centauro lockt mit günstigen Angeboten und verdient am Ende mit solchen Methoden. Nie wieder Centauro. Einen Stern gibt es lediglich für die Nähe zum Flughafen und den Shuttleservice.

I have used Centauro for many years now…

I have used Centauro for many years now and always pleased with the service and vehicles. However this time I was allocated a Mazda which was seriously underpowered and at times made overtaking difficult and unsafe. Hills, inclines also very challenging. I have also left a review with Centauro.

Generally good service

Generally good service. On arrival if documents have not already been scanned you must join the queue by entering your booking number in the queue ticket machine. IMPORTANT you must also enter the - "dash" in as part of the number. When returning you car, to join the queue it was not possible to enter the booking number again, so there was not clear instruction on how to return the keys. Centaro are generally very good, nice folks at the desk, car was nice, place easy to find. If they can improve these small points then they are closer to perfect.

Bei Booking gebucht, von Centauro über den Tisch gezogen! Booked through Booking, scammed by Centauro!

Bei Booking habe ich über Centauro einen Mietwagen reserviert und mit meiner AMEX-Kreditkarte bezahlt. Wichtig zu wissen: Mietwagen sind über AMEX automatisch vollkaskoversichert. Bei meiner Ankunft bei Centauro Faro wurde mir jedoch mitgeteilt, dass keine Buchung über Booking vorliege.Dadurch war es möglich, mir einen neuen Vertrag unterzuschieben – inklusive einer zusätzlichen Vollkaskoversicherung. Meine Reklamation bei Booking ergab lediglich, dass mir von Centauro Zusatzgebühren berechnet wurden – mit dem Trick, dass angeblich keine Reservierung existierte. Ist das nun aggressives Upselling oder bereits Betrug? Ich bin jedenfalls extrem verärgert, darauf hereingefallen zu sein. I booked a rental car through Centauro on Booking and paid with my AMEX credit card. Important to know: Rental cars are automatically fully insured through AMEX. However, when I arrived at Centauro Faro, I was told that there was no booking under my name. As a result, they were able to push a new contract on me – including an additional full insurance policy. My complaint to Booking only revealed that Centauro had charged me extra fees, using the trick that no reservation supposedly existed. Is this aggressive upselling or outright fraud? Either way, I’m extremely frustrated that I fell for it.

Avoid this car rental

AVOID, especially when you plan a trip to the mountains in winter. To begin with, I had to wait for a shuttle bus over an hour as opposed to 15 min stated on their website. The first one that arrived was full and I had to wait for another one, delaying the car collection. Despite their website claiming "no deposit required," I was charged a 125€ fuel deposit. I was told this would be refunded upon returning the car with a full tank, which I did. However, I never received the full refund. THE CAR WASN'T PREPARED AND SAFE TO DRIVE IN WINTER CONDITIONS. * It was equipped in worn summer tires, which are dangerous for winter driving. * The windshield washer fluid was nearly empty, and when I refilled it, the system malfunctioned after freezing in the cold. This left me without a way to clear my windshield during the trip. * The tire chains provided were broken, despite being legally required for winter driving in the Alps. I had to purchase a new pair myself, costing me extra money, time, and stress. When I returned the car, I was delayed by an hour due to the need to replace the broken chains. I informed the customer service representative, Andrea, who assured me everything was fine and that I would receive my full fuel deposit back. However, days later, I discovered that 92€ of the 125€ deposit was withheld. When I contacted customer service, Sophie claimed I should have been charged an additional 50€ penalty but avoided it as a "commercial gesture." Essentially, they charged me almost 150€ for a one-hour delay, which is outrageous considering the weekly rental cost was only slightly over 200€. This company misled me, provided an unsafe vehicle, and overcharged me significantly. I strongly advise against using this service, especially for winter trips where safety and reliability are critical.

I rented on Jan 30 2025 in Lisbon and I was charged $46 car rental protection fee in which i knew nothing about because I wasn’t given a receipt picking or returning the car. The rep asked me if I wanted the protection and I told him “no”. I told him that I had already paid the $13 protection, he told me that it wouldn’t cover the car. When I returned the car waiting for my uber, I noticed that I never received my emailed or paper receipt picking up or dropping the car so I had to go back inside to retrieve a receipt. When I rented in Porto Feb 2 2025. I was asked about the $46 protection again and I declined so the rep told me that I would have to pay $46 or $1200 hold on my credit card so I explained to her that in Lisbon I declined the $46 and she told me that I paid the $46 for the protection, that’s how I found out that I paid the $46 by her telling from the computer. In Lisbon I wasn’t told that I had to pay $46 or put $1200 hold on my credit card so the rep in Lisbon just assumed that I wanted to pay the $46 instead of holding that much money on my card. Centauro is a cheap place to rent from because its rip off. A $1200 hold one a credit card is a lot of money when your on vacation!
