Missing Traits

Ancestry received my DNA sample on 02 April and I finally got the results 27 April, only to find that there's an error with my traits and the data isn't loading. There were no issues with my daughter, sent her sample the same day, but she got her results 18 April. Really disappointed with the process, the timeliness, and the amount of money I spent.

Test is stuck at processing..

We sent my son and daughters test at the same time. They were moving along about the same time and then hers stopped. We got my son’s test back 2 days early. My daughters is due by today and it’s still 2 steps behind. It hasn’t moved in weeks. No updates or anything on her test. I didn’t say anything when I first noticed it wasn’t progressing along because I expect it would still be ready by the due date given by the company. Now the date is here and it looks like the test has been lost from my end.

It’s not that easy to understand

It’s not that easy to understand, I have been paying extra for services that’s supposed to push my results to the front of the line. I still waited the full time period. It just a rip off to actually use this website. You will not gain any clarity or understanding. They will advertise all these things to you but you will not have access to. You will have to pay for every feature. I am highly disappointed .

App is buggy

App is ok, but every time you open it the tree is different or missing people. You are also forced get a membership in order to see who you match with all after you spend $150.00 for the test.

Proceed with caution

My results on one side of my family were not at all what I expected and I am now down a rabbit hole trying to reconcile them. I know this is not Ancestry's fault, but I really wish I had never done the test. I had entered predictions for my results while I was waiting. It might've been helpful if the email that I got telling me that the results were available noted that they were very different from what I had predicted. it might have helped prepare me for some very unsettling news.

Questionable

My 1st sample was mailed and took so long to be received I had to report it lost and had to do another sample. 2 days after I sent in my replacement sample. I was notified my 1st sample was received. When I got my results I doubted how accurate they are when it didn’t even match me with my own mother.

Great! But, what about Native American ancestry?

Great experience. Though, one thing: I am not sure if Native American tribal DNA is figured into the DNA results or not, but my Mom always told me about having Cherokee and Blackfoot in our family. I am wondering if Native tribes just don't submit their DNA, and since they don't, Native DNA can not be factored into the final DNA results?

Absolute waste of money

I am extremely disappointed with my experience of Ancestry. Three weeks since posting my sample, it has still not been received. (It should be recorded on my account once received apparently). I don't understand how it could take so long, nor the failure of Ancestry to realise that people will worry that their sample is lost in the post. Despite apparently posting the sample to Ireland (from UK) I now wonder if they actually post them on to America to have them tested??? Nothing is properly explained. I was worried my sample was lost in the post and managed to call customer services. Apparently I have to wait 20 business days before a replacement kit can be sent out! Meanwhile I am bombarded daily with emails trying to persuade me to give my credit card details for a 'free trial' and subsequently pay a subscription fee. I can only assume that the ridiculously long waiting time to get DNA results after all the stalling allows Ancestry more time to send their marketing emails. I will certainly not be signing up for any trials, or subscription. I have not even received the results that I have already paid for! Almost £70 paid out already and I have to wait probably 2 months before I see any results (or much longer if I have to request a replacement kit). Furthermore the website is incredibly difficult to use. I don't understand how to build my family tree. They keep sending me 'hints' every day, but when I try to see them I see nothing except a request to enter my credit card details!! It seems that I have to pay extra for anything at all. So as I understand it, all I can expect for nearly £70 is some idea of the range of countries that my DNA might have originated from. This represents absolutely terrible value for money. I really expected more. So far I have nothing to show for my investment, and no indication of when I will ever receive my results. Even if/when I do, I have no intention of paying a subscription as I cannot make any sense of how to use the website, nor what to expect regarding connecting with distant relatives through the DNA testing (if indeed this is possible without paying more money - I have no idea) There was no explanation of what to expect in return for my initial investment. I wish I had been more cautious and read the other reviews here before I started.

Useless outsourced customer service!

My mother passed away last year and we have only recently learned about her yearly subscription with you. I am attempting to cancel her subscription, but your horrible outsourced customer service is unwilling to help me. What the heck? Everyone should understand what kind of a company you’re buying into here.
