Staff will outright lie to customers. Staff will treat you like a piece of dirt. Incompetence to the highest degree. They will argue that the state and federal governments are wrong before they are.
So tired of these guys incompetence, firstly upgrading your systems which deleted myaccount internet access causing me to have to sign up again to pay online. Secondly you have altered my address so my concession details do not match Govt records. I have spoken to several Filipino staff and staff in Australia....no effort to help or fix. I am going to go out of my way to get everyone i know to steer clear of your recalcitrant behaviour. Goodbye Alinta!!!
I just had a very pleasant experience today Wednesday 15 June 2022 changing my electricity provider to Alinta Energy, which is very surprising after reading all the negative reviews here, I called on the phone and it was answered in a reasonable 10 - 15 minutes by a friendly and professional lady called 'Jordan' who handled my application to transfer from Energy Australia to Alinta Energy, she made the whole process easy and with her pleasant manner it was quite refreshing and endearing, and also wonderful not having to deal with an overseas call centre. My experience so far with Alinta Energy I'm happy to say is positive thanks to the friendly, attentive and professional Alinta representative Jordan. Some people are quick to complain about companies when they receive bad customer service, but not so many give compliments when they have a positive interaction. Plus, her friendly manner has put me in a good mood for the day as an extra unexpected benefit which is good for my soul, thanks Jordan. I hope that my future experience with Alinta Energy will continue to stay positive, I will be updating this review over time.
Been with Alinta for 3 years and no problems until March 2021. Sudden large increase in my usage according to their billing which I queried. After little to no response I contacted the Ombudsman in QLD (EWOQ) - Alinta won't even provide them with information. I believe there is a problem their data providers (smart meter data collection agency) but until the EWOQ can get information from Alinta there is nothing that can be done (EWOQ has no jurisdiction to demand information from 3rd parties - go figure). Alinta has no customer service standards. Run a mile from this company.
Why I was at fault for their cockup I received a letter allegedly telling me that I would no longer be getting a "controlled load tariff". I say allegedly because the letter did not actually tell me this fact. That was explained using a table that simply removed the controlled load tariff and didn't mention what was going to happen to the cost of that.( it worked out that the cost of controlled tariff would now be anytime rate at twice the price 18.282 cents/kwh to 36.949 cents / kwh. When i rang to ask what my next bill would be like I was told that there would be no change whatsoever and as their customer service section was being upgraded I would have to call back 4 days later to get a better deal. I rang back was lied to ( we had to change things because you have a smart metre, I don't) was told they didn't understand why I was told things wouldn't change and that I would be put through to someone that could give me the best possible deal. I also asked why the letter they sent was sent 7 days after the change to my billing happened( changed 1/4/22 letter written 8/4/22 received in mail 21/4/22) I also asked why I was lied to and that I wanted to get some answers. Told supervisor would ring back as soon as they finished the call they were on. They didn't ring back. I rang 3.5 hrs later and was told I could have the number for the complaints department, I said I would wait while they transferred me, I was then told that everyone had left and there was no one to talk to. Long story short 2 days later I received the final call from them telling me that the people that had lied were being retrained, that I wasn't supposed to have go the letter in the first place and that they wished to offer $100 compensation which I said wasn't much compensation for all the bother they put me through for no reason so they gave me $150 instead. In general the service is terrible and the way they lie and make things up is immoral. My account was $850 in credit for what is usually around $400 bill. The only time I contact them is when they're doing something wrong. They have paid me compensation 3 times now, I think that goes quite a way to show Im not making this stuff up but that it is their on going business practice to lie cheat and deceive.
I have tried 3 times to sign up to Alinta only to be hung up on every time when I want to confirm the rates they advertise to the rates they are trying to sign me up for. I wonder why. The energy ombusman should look into this company it seems to be operating with deceptive rates from what they advertise.
Do NOT use this company customer service is appalling. While it seems that the out sourcing company in the Philippines is doing the correct thing in sending through the information to Alinta it appears that Alinta does not act on this information and the request just don't get processed. I recommend avoiding this company like the plague and pay the extra 1 or 2 cents per kilowatt with another company that will give you honest customer service
Over the course of 4 weeks I attempted to get my power connected to a builders pole at my property. After being told 3 incorrect things, I was finally told that my request had been lodged with Energex. However, after a week of not hearing anything I called back and was told that the request was declined "Due to a system error with our computers". This same process happened 2 more times where their computer systems rejected the job. I genuinely think it would be easier to get power connected in a 3rd world country. I wish I had read the reviews before I went with Alinta and I regret not leaving them sooner Utterly, utterly useless.
I called Alinta and got a bright, clear speaking lady. She was very helpful to guide me through the application as I had trouble with my internet and so I had to do it all by the phone. Their welcome pack arrived as scheduled and the transition happened without me needing to do anything else. I love the billing options and no fees for paying with a credit card.
Signed up with the online website link for a Gas acct with the free Kayo pack. Few days later received an email with no mention of the Sports pack. Called them up and the girl on the phone was rude and when i threatened to go to the ombudsman agreed to let me speak to her TL who said she will escalate. Had a call today from a Jade from Resolution who was the worst and rudest person ive spoken to in a long time. She accepted the fact the website was wrong and misleading but would not give me a resolution. Continuously spoke over me, was unapologetic and obnoxious and arguing and was literally using a raised tone. I hope Alinta listens to the call. How can someone so pathethic ever work in resolutions. Kept saying she has raised this with Sales Manager Ben F(wont put his last name) but i wont believe anything even if she told me she had put ice cubes in a glass of drink, Do not sign up with this mob guys. Not only are they corrupt but lying and scheming throughout.
