Hot water issues

Not fit for purpose depending on your water type. Three years extended product and customer service warranty and completely ignored for 6 months when dealing diedtly with the CEO. £600 out of pocket with a product that worked for a total of 2 months of a 8 month period.

This is the third review I have written for Skuma. I had various difficulties with my machine. On my previous trust pilot review, I stated that the company and I were working together to find an outcome that worked for us both. This has now happened and we have agreed a solution we are both satisfied with, which is why I have given a 5 star rating.

It’s mostly great but ……

I do like my machine but there are some things I don’t like. It can be a lot of work at times. I dread doing the cleaning bit, the worst of it being getting the filter out of the machine. I’m 76 and I haven’t got the strength to do this. In order to get enough strength I have to put the machine on the floor and put 100% of my strength into it. It’s probably ok if you’re a young fit male. The water isn’t really hot enough for tea but saying that it does make a decent cup. I’m not sure the filter lasts a year, especially if you are a family. I changed mine after about eight months and I live on my own. The infusions can work out expensive but since using the machine I hardly ever have cramp issues. It’s nice to get rid of my kettle. Filling the machine is a bit of a nuisance every day and because I’m in a very hard water area I waste an awful lot of water down the sink (I don’t have a garden). I paid extra for a tube to take the extra water straight into the sink (very overpriced). The downside of this is that the water removed from the machine is so bad that it stains the sink! Thanks Thames Water. When I’ve had problems Skuma have done their best to help me, I just don’t want the problems. I’m wondering if a new machine will be coming onto the market with some of these things ironed out. So, although these are a lot of negatives I do like my machine and wouldn’t be without it. It just needs improvements.

Appalling customer service and poor product.

Purchased one of these from amazon and set it up with no issues. after a week of use the unit stopped working. Started a return through amazon and was sent an Evri drop off QR code. Took it to the shop - code didn't work so contacted Skuma who said they do not use Evri for returns, instead they use DPD (so why was I sent an Evri QR Code). Skuma said they would send me a DPD return code, which they never did. After back and forth and several stalling emails from Skuma, I had to initiate a refund through amazon's guarantee claims. amazon instructed me to send the unit back directly to Skuma (which cost me £20). Today I looked at the tracking and Yodel says that "Delivery attempted we will reschedule" and so i contacted Yodel who said "the parcel was refused at the property" so Skuma is refusing to accept a return. This company is shocking. We will be re-conatcting amazon to try to sort this out as Skuma do nothing.

Worst company I have dealt with in…

Worst company I have dealt with in years. Ordered the product in mid September, got an email saying that the product is going through an update and I will get a updated version. Didn't know that the product was still under development and that there were any issues with the same. Looked online a bit further and there were so many people complaining of faulty units to which made me request a refund even before my product was sent to me. I emailed and received a reply from customer service saying that my refund was being processed. Contacted a week later as no reply and then I mentioned that I will file a complaint and request money back from my card company. They did not reply but then sent me a unit, without telling me anything. I still have to wait for them to reply but so far the way that things have been handle have not give me the confidence to even try the product which I am not and have requested for a return and full refund. The issue is still continuing and I simply can't understand how they do business. Not recommended.

Taste the difference

Having a few issues getting a response on the WhatsApp chat they like you to use and still waiting. When the bottle refills arrived the were just a sachet and I was expecting new bottles so may be worth making this clear. Aside from that the water is definitely different and it does make a difference.

Machine is good but that’s about it

Machine is good, water tastes fab but it’s very leaky after having it for a while. I referred my sister in law on the £55 cash back scheme and they didn’t stick to their word. I ordered a machine which took 3 weeks to come and no updates around when I could expect it. I ended up refusing the delivery when it decided to arrive because I was so shocked at the customer service received from skuna. Water’s great but don’t expect them to stick to their word!

Water tastes great, customer service is caring!

Water tastes great, easy to use and maintain, and the coffee balance minerals have really improved my coffee experience. Customer service for me has always been responsive and good, with some patience everything has been sorted.

Great tasting drinking water

I bought my Sküma 6 months ago and am really happy with it so far. It saves loads of plastic bottles and the water produced tastes much better than directly from the tap (mainly because our drinking water here is quite hard and contains chlorine). The only reason I'm just giving four stars is that the tank for the waste water is quite small, so needs emptying very often and the main water tank has sometimes issues being "recognised" after replacing, so needs some shaking till the sensor sees that it is there. But these are all minor issues. Overall I'm really happy with the system.

Issue resolved promptly

Update: Whilst initially disappointed to receive what appeared to be a used machine and frustration being able to contact customer service. Alexandre the CEO arranged a call to apologise and explain what had happened. I was also reassured that the internal processes with the customer service department were being improved so issues will be resolved sooner. I received a brand new machine the very next day, which is now all set up and works as expected. I appreciate errors can happen and I look forward to moving forward with my Skuma and my confidence has been restored.

overall a good water filter

overall a good water filter. i had a couple of issues since using it, but the support was always very good. A bit noisy but it uses pumps to move water around and the result is quicker filtered water albeit the noise. Infusions are good..and now a little cheaper coming in powdered form.
