Review summary

Singapore Airlines faces significant criticism from consumers, with a majority rating it poorly. Many reviewers express dissatisfaction with the service, citing arrogant staff and poor communication skills, particularly in stressful situations like delays. Complaints about flight experiences are common, with reports of long wait times, missed connections, and inadequate responses to issues, including refund requests. Despite these negatives, some customers do share positive experiences, particularly in business class, praising the food and attentive service. However, these positive reviews are overshadowed by the prevalent sentiment of frustration regarding service quality and operational reliability. Overall, Singapore Airlines struggles to meet customer expectations, leading to a predominantly negative perception.

Incompetent & zero customer care

Incompetent & zero customer care, is a fair view of Singapore Airlines Booked flights from LHR -BKK Premium economy return 1st leg was LHR to Changi flight was 1hr 30 mins late on arrival in Changi due to headwinds which is acceptable. My lay over was 1hr 10 mins in Changi , l rushed from terminals and actually made the connecting flight once again with S/A.l passed through security and the boarding gate and entered the aircraft, was seated with seat belt on, in allotted seat when ground crew entered aircraft and asked me to leave the plane. Obviously l asked why, no explanation was offered, actually l felt a bit like a criminal. But at the age of nearly 70 l can assure l,m not. All my paper work was in order, there was no breach of carriage terms or conditions on my behalf. I was told to go to the transfer desk l waited there for 4 hrs before l was told my hold luggage hadn,t been transferred to the connecting flight. Total incompetence and there is no regs in S/A terms of carriage stating l cannot fly without my baggage. As we know it,s sent on asap. S/A booked me in a hotel and offered me the same flight next day which l didn’t want. Now here,s the frustrating part l had a hotel booked at Don Mueang that evening and a flight with Air Asia to Vietnam early morning, l explained this to staff at the transfer desk, and there was actually other airlines flying to BKK that evening which l could have been booked onto, but transfer desk said oh their not affiliated to S/A so not possible,so basically l was out of pocket for the booked hotel, a taxi was also booked, and l had to rebook another flight to Vietnam At the transfer desk in Changi l was assured these costs would be met by S/A. 2 months down the road with my claim and after numerous emails and long awaited reply’s ( which is a tactic hoping l will fold) err no chance! They have actually only now understood which flight am claiming for, they used many excuses concerning the 1st leg, not realising the problem arose on the connecting flight from Changi to Bangkok. l forward S/A all receipts of bookings and boarding passes etc The last email sent me from their customer relations executive has stated his going to contact his colleagues in the Traffic Team in Singapore. Well get the security cameras up and actually watch me passing through security boarding control and entering the plane, and seated. Surely the security cameras doesn’t lie So please take this on board before considering S/A They paint a beautiful picture of their Airline and customer care, but in reality they are shambolic and incompetent . Got the return journey this very evening OMG. Well just completed return journey so some more to add regarding S/A Plane late taking off by 2 hrs from Changi to LHR a snack pack of crips and chocolate offered, great healthy option, but no water or juice when l asked for liquid from S/A staff, l was informed, we,re not allowed to bring water into departure area Yet again total incompetence not supplying water. S/A ………Stay Away 100%

Excellent service throughout!

Wow - nothing else to say! I have travelled for both business and pleasure on a number of short, mid and long haul carriers in everything from economy, premium economy and business and Singapore Airlines is by far the best experience overall. The staff are all immaculate, very friendly, attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. The seating was comfortable, the only complaint, but this is on any Premium carrier, is the leg rest never comes up high enough to properly support your legs. The choice of food (in Premium) was excellent, especially the "book the Chef" option pre flight. The on board entertainment also very good Premium long haul Like for like: Singapore 10/10, BA 8/10, Air China 7/10, Iberia 1/10

Stay away from Singapore Airlines - They won't look after you...even if you were in Business Class

I've had my recent Business Class experience with Singapore Airlines and I am not impressed at all. Arrived at Melbourne Airport to find out two of my suitcases were damaged. I understand it's the baggage handling system/handlers that caused it but hey, I paid Singapore Airlines for my ticket and they should sort this out for me right? and you would think if you sat in Business Class they would look after you better, right? WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! After lodging my complaint via e-form on their website, I have NEVER RECEIVED ANY UPDATE from them till now (1 month so far and counting). I had to contact them 7-8 times with no update....only telling me they have escalated it and will respond in 24-48 hours. RUBBISH, no calls or email after the dateline. When I called them to follow up, they have handballed it to DNATA....practically dusting their hands clean. When a business does this to you --> AVOID THEM. The glory days of Singapore Airlines are gone. They no longer look after their customers. It's all profit driven. I mean playing ping pong on my suitcase compensation is part of their cost cutting exercise. They aim to tire me from my complaints and want me to give up. Oh well, I've escalated my complaint to Consumer Affairs and ACCC.

Nein danke!

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines. The reputation. The prestige. The allure. But reality? Oh, it’s something else entirely. Let’s break this down, flight SQ 525 from Chennai to Singapore. Strap in, because this is turbulence no seatbelt sign could prepare you for. Let’s start with the staff. The cabin crew. They are less about service and more about spectacle. Models, not professionals. Oh, they walk the aisle with grace, heads high, as if they’re on the cover of a fashion magazine. But ask for something—like an apple juice—and you’re met with blank stares and deliberate ignorance. The wait? Two and a half hours. Yes. For apple juice. And when the call light was switched on? It wasn’t just ignored—it was turned off remotely. Quiet dismissal. The real kicker is the pilot. The ground staff in Chennai, a marvel of efficiency, got us boarded faster than I could finish my coffee. Then came the wait. And wait we did. Thirty minutes? An hour? It felt eternal. Testing the wings. Checking the brakes. What next, reheating dinner? Butter chicken and ginger tea, perhaps? Meanwhile, Air India had another flight airborne in less time. This isn’t efficiency. This isn’t precision. This is a slow-motion spectacle of indifference. As for the cabin crew… words fail me. You’d think they’d be the best of the best. But no. They’re ornamental. Not functional. The wrong people are in these roles. Where are the passionate aviators? The ones who care? Instead, we have beauty queens with no interest in the passengers they’re supposed to serve. Here’s the truth: this airline sells a dream, but delivers a nightmare. It’s a parade of glamour masking a void of professionalism and care. The plane itself? Fine. The experience? A disaster. Flight Details: Flight: SQ 525 Date: 25 January 2025 Departure: Chennai, 10:00 Arrival: Singapore, 16:55

Low service standards and many delays

We travelled with Singapore Airlines on a round-trip from Copenhagen to Phuket with a short layover in Singapore for our holiday in January 2025. Thus, this review includes experiences from a total of four flights. We were six family members, including two children and one senior citizen (my mother). We purchased our tickets directly through Singapore Airlines. The short layover time (just 50 minutes on the way out, and 1 hour and 20 min. returning) had me concerned beforehand, but as the itinerary was suggested by Singapore and they ensured me on phone that it was standard and all fine, we agreed. I would NOT recommend this for anyone else. Of four flights, three were more than a little delayed. Already from Copenhagen, our flight was an hour delayed, and, of course, we didn't make the transfer to our flight to Thailand. This was stressful, and the cabin crew were not very helpful in informing us of next steps when arriving in Singapore. We had to be very persistent to get them to help us. They did, however, find us a new departure from Singapore with a decent amount of waiting time. This flight was, however, also seriously delayed. On the return trip, we only made our transfer in Singapore by storming, panting and panicking, through the airport - mind you, we were travelling with a senior citizen and children (one only four years of age) for whom this transfer proved very physically strenuous and mentally stressful. I had asked the airline for help with the transfer in advance, stressing that the travel party included young children and an elderly woman, but they didn't even send an airport buggy to help us out. As the poor planning was a fault of the airline, and as my mother was travelling on business class, I think transportation between gates in Singapore would have been in order. On the last flight (Singapore-Copenhagen), the airline had screwed up our meal orders, so my vegetarian sister had to eat a meat-based dish, and the children did not receive their kids' menus. I did pre-register for the special meals five days in advance (and could prove so, as the order was made simultaneously with the business class special menu which my mother DID receive during this flight). This would all have been OK, had the flight attendant not rudely suggested that the fault was mine and suspiciously questioned me about my order (and demanded that I proved to her that I had pre-registered for special meals). That was NOT a pleasant experience when you're already exhausted on a 15-hour travel plan. We never got the meals (except my mother), nor did we receive any kind of apology. Moreover, even with our best efforts at personal hygiene on board, we managed to become infected with a stomach bug on both trips. The timing lines up perfectly with our time spent on the SA flights (I caught some bug on the way out, and my daughter on the way home). This suggests that the cleaning standards are not as high as one may have hoped travelling with a large, international airline company. All in all, not the best experience in terms of itinerary or service level. It seems that SA have prioritized short-term income over long-term customer reputation. I won't be choosing Singapore Airlines again, and I strongly recommend others to find alternatives as well. SA receives two stars from me because the flight itself was, after all, safe (but this should be the expected minimum).

Constantly declining service

I have been flying with Singapore Airlines since 1986. They were really good at that time, but I have noticed their service declining over time. The quality of food served, the lack of free toothbrushes and toothpaste. Today, the flight was delayed by 35 minutes with passengers standing at the gate in Sydney. No announcements and no apologies. The pilots arrived promptly but the rest of the crew "strolled in" late. What has happened to common courtesy?? I avoid flying with Airlines based in countries that have bad reputations regarding their human rights etc. This is why I choose Singapore Airlines and choose to pay more, but it looks like SQ is not a good airline anymore!!

Will never fly Singapore Airlines again. Booked a flight and needed to change the dates. Was happy to pay the £200 change fee, but they said I had to pay £1,400 extra because they no longer offer the fare type I originally booked. Clearly a ploy to squeeze money out of customers.

Pathetic

Flight gets cancelled just before take-off and now stranded in London for more than 24 hours. Digital communication and phone support from airline is non existant. Ground staff not capable of handling this situation well. Dozens of confused passengers roaming around Heathrow like lost sheep looking for help. I have lost all faith in what used to be a good airline.

Delayed over 24 hours then another email with another 3 hours delay. No helpline number nothing what do ever. 4000 miles from home with my family of 3. Utterly disgraceful. First and last time I spend a penny with these clowns. Better service from easyjet which says it all. 27 hours in total. No allowance for hotel, food, taxi, nothing.
