Please read this and other negative reviews before you book with this company. We wished we had as they let us down badly. We booked a luxury tour of Sri Lanka and The Maldives and it was anything but. The coach that we toured Sri Lanka on was not fit for purpose and on one leg of the journey the suspension collapsed which shows how decrepit it was. The boat that we sailed around The Maldives, which we were told was built in 2008, was in fact built in 1984. Speaking to the crew, they told us that the boat was about to be scrapped as it no longer met the required standards. The boat was run down and tatty, nothing like the pictures in the brochure. Even before the trip started Riviera changed the itinerary. A much anticipated rail journey in Sri Lanka was cancelled and replaced by the decrepit coach. On arrival in The Maldives we discovered that the itinerary had completely changed and we were sailing on a different route. This upset many on the trip as we could no longer see, and swim, with the whale sharks which was the highlight of many of the travellers. The choice of hotels in Sri Lanka was strange. We were always a long way from any of the next day's site visits. This meant an even earlier start than necessary. On the last night in Sri Lanka we had a very early flight the next day yet they chose a hotel 45+ minutes from the airport which meant an extremely early wake up call. We had to change rooms that night, as did many others, as there was a very loud party going on outside our window. We also had to change rooms at one of the other hotels as it was smelly and musty - again at least one other couple had to do the same. I contacted Riviera with the above comments (and other issues) but they just shrugged off my complaints - they couldn't see that there was any problem. Again, look at other negative reviews and you will see that my complaints are repeated many times. Once Riviera have your money then their customer service stops. We will never travel with them again. Other companies that we have travelled with are far superior.

What a lovely booking experience! Lovely Melanie answered all our questions with great knowledge and many giggles to two newbie river cruise goers! And also v calmly and efficiently changed the booking date when when I realised the date we had booked clashed with another trip I had planned but hadn’t checked !!! Doh. !! Having that personal contact and speaking to a human makes all the difference! Highly recommend Riviera .

We have just booked a once in a lifetime safari to Kenya for 2026. One of the items in the description on the website is an opportunity to upgrade the booking to experience a night in a tent in the Masaai Mara game reserve. Fantastic! But to do this you need to phone Riviera after making your booking for the main holiday. However, when we tried to upgrade we were told there is no availability for this extra even though our safari is a year away. So shouldn't it be taken out of the web description once Riviera know there is no capacity left? Just for the record, after posting this review Riviera got in touch with me and said I had been misinformed about availability for 2026 - obviously a minor training issue. But they took the trouble to get in touch directly and sort it out. Thank you Sue B! I have put my review up to five stars as I always think it is how a company reacts when things go a bit astray that shows what they are worth.
Way out of my comfort zone in considering a holiday to Canada, but Riviera Travel have been excellent, in particular Laurie. All my questions and concerns were dealt with in a friendly , coutreous and professional manner. I'm confident now that having made my booking I am in good hands. Philip

As a widower solo holidays primarily suit me and I have found Riviera Travel extremely helpful. I have just booked my sixth holiday since covid, this one to Sicily in October. The others have been a river cruise, a trip to South Africa, and the others escorted European tours and all have been excellent in every way. Have met some lovely people and remain in touch with people from every trip. Every trip has been good value and staff extremely helpful
Had a problem and couldn’t book online so had to call to book. Not ideal but speaking to Daniel made up for it - what a lovely person. He was very polite and helpful. He completed our booking and sorted out a query I had about my passport too.
I actually had issues in completing my booking online - so I had to phone customer support. First of all it was wonderful being able to talk to someone who didn't have a lot of background noise as found in call centres. The person I spoke to was very helpful and could answer all my questions and was very knowledgeable about the holiday. I have since spoken a few more advisors as I have updated a few details. All have been delightful!
