The ability to communicate with one particular agent who took a personal interest in my booking. It was never suggested that I 'go online'. Able to make contact seven days a week

An escorted trip to Portugal from Lisbon to Porto including a day in the Douro Valley was absolutely brilliant. From the time we were met at Lisbon Airport by the tour manager to the time we returned to the airport 8 days later, we were kept informed of all the daily itineraries. There was plenty of time to explore on ourselves and information on how to return to the hotel by public transport. Absolutely well worth a visit.
From my first general enquiry call to finally booking our trip yesterday, Laurie has been exceptional. I have had a fast and courteous response from him to all my numerous email and phone queries and I can only thank him for his patience. All of this a far cry from another company whom I emailed over a week ago and who have not bothered to respond. So far, I cannot fault the service provided by Riviera and Laurie - and if the trip lives up to my now very high expectations, I shall be a very happy customer!

The whole holiday was brilliant. Our first river cruise, well first cruise full stop. The ship was amazing and spotlessly clean. The staff were very attentive and the included excursions were well organised. Everything form the original booking of the holiday right through to arriving back in the UK was faultless. Booked our next one for next year.

They listened carefully to my requests and questions and answered with honesty. When they didn’t have the answer to one question they made enquiries for me and called me back with the answer. They were friendly, helpful, polite and efficient, and I send my thanks for excellent customer service.

It was the first time I had done a river cruise & I loved it so much we booked again for next year.
The crew were lovely, the few riviera staff were hit and miss, some great and some positively useless. The cruise was lovely but the quality and range of the Superior drinks package was dire. Palatable but dire. The worst thing about it was/is, the back office staff. Raise a complaint and any concerns are totally refuted, ask for a second opinion and the reply (presumably the first one's close friend) just says that they got it right first time. Lots of other issues such as train tickets not being sent out in time, changes to itinerary known about by them, days prior to departure not communicated by them at the time. The first we knew was when we saw the letter on our bed in the cabin. OK, we got some automatic compensation for this but that is not the point. They could have and should have communicated this to us before and when this and the other issues were raised with Customer Relations, they simply couldn't care less. Their mantra seems to be the Customer is always wrong. This company says they care, but my experience is that they really don't. The response to my complaint was inadequate and the response to this review just goes to prove my point. Stressing the positive and effectively ignoring my concerns and their shortcomings

The online booking wouldn’t complete so I had to finish by calling up. Some of the information I’d entered was retained so I didn’t have to start from scratch

The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, striking the perfect balance between rich cultural experiences and welcome free time. Each day brought something new and memorable, and the quality of the hotels added to the enjoyment of the tour. Thank you again for such a seamless and enriching journey.
