I have just been sent an email at 1.36 am to say that I have to pay a supplement of over £2k because my cabin mate has had to cancel. Riviera will not refund her money which I understand. But the cabin has been fully paid for, for 2 people. I go tomorrow on the holiday or do I? Going to have a sleepless night. Next morning Got a reply from Riviera saying that I didn't have to pay the suppliment. Thank you. Just one sleepless night in the end.

I am just back from Turkey. I have not been able to find any fault with this holiday, and I believe the other 18 passengers will heartily agree. Paul our rep/guide was exceptional. He led our (solos) group with a mixture of humour, diplomacy and superb knowledge of Turkey. Our local guide Mehmet was knowledgeable and pleasant to listen too. Our bus driver felt very safe. The hotels were luxurious and the balance of sights excellent. This has set the bar very high for future holidays.

A very easy booking experience. Sharon provided lots of info, and patiently dealt with the variations in line quality caused by the Openreach engineer working outside our house. A good start to our holiday.

We were originally supposed to be sailing on the New ship, MS Riviera Rose but due to construction delays we were transferred to the MS Porto Mirante which entered service in October 2024 and was sister ship of the Riviera Rose. We have had a number of Riviera holidays both river cruises and land tour, and had been advised by fellow travellers that the Durou was the best river cruise in Europe.With which we have to disagree, the scenery although beautiful is repetitive with vineyard on the hills both side of the river. On other river cruises we have got off in the centre of most towns we have visited, but on the Durou we were coached to every excursion destination with most trips taking around a hour in each direction. After a few days we felt we were on a coach holiday with a floating hotel as our base. The tour guides on the coaches especially Phillapa were excellent as were the coaches and thier drivers. We could not fault the MS Porto Mirante, which had wonderful accommodation, food drinks and staff and all public areas were kept immaculate by Sandra and her team. Due to high water levels on the Durou restricting navigation we did not manage to get to all planned destination along the river but did have all planned excursions including the trip to Salamanca. However instead of this being a day trip with a 2 hour coach trip in each direction, it changed to a 4 hour coach trip with an overnight in a Hotel in Salamanca with Dinner bed and breakfast at Riviera's expense. But only 1/3 of the passengers opted for this option and they missed a treat. Diago Pereira the Riviera Cruise Director was kept busy dealing with the problems cause by the river navigation difficulties. Also due to them Riviera Travel gave all guests a 3 day river assurance refund based upon the grade of cabin originally booked, which was appreciated. Would we do this cruise again, definitely not as we felt every excursion destination with the exception of the Quinta ( vineyard ) were rushed and we lacked adequate time to really appreciate them. This particularly related to Porto, as we were not docked in the city but at a rural pier a 40 minutes coach ride away. But we do plan to return to Porto and have a extended city break here and visit Guimaraes again.

Sharon was absolutely brilliant booking a holiday to the Dordogne for me. She phoned me as soon as dates became available, and was extremely pleasant and helpful. She provided all the information I needed, and told me the flight times from Bristol, my preferred airport. Sharon made the whole booking experience extremely straight-forward and enjoyable.

Excellent. I had decided to book a solo river cruise having never cruised before. Sharon went through all the details with me and a couple of days later we booked my first ever cruise. Thank you Sharon.

Friendly, helpful service

A bit annoying that I got all the way through the booking online only to be told that I needed to phone them to make the booking. However, having said that, when I got through to them, the agent could not have been more helpful and pleasant. It took them a week to send the email confirmation, too.

IVE had good service with this company and good staff

We are first time customers of Riviera Travel and Amanda couldn't have got our experience off to a better start. We had called Customer Services as we had some queries about the options available to us. Amanda was friendly, patient and knowledgeable, and we were so impressed that we booked our cruise there and then. We have to wait until May 2026 for our Riviera holiday; if the experience with Amanda is anything to go by, we're going to have a great time.

Currently on holiday on Thomas Hardy, trying to get a drink after 9.00 is almost impossible, bar staff ignore you and despite closing a 12 .00 we felt obliged to leave at 11.00. Neither of us are big drinkers and very disappointed by the whole experience

I phoned to book my fourth Riviera solo traveller holiday. The call handler was friendly, helpful and well informed as I have come to expect from this company. (I was particularly pleased to find I was entitled to a discount as a U3A member, which I had not been aware of.) I didn't feel rushed or pressured as the various options for travel and accommodation were explained to me. I will definitely be booking another holiday soon and will be recommending Riviera unequivocally to friends and family.

As we have already been on several excellent river cruises with Riviera, Laurie was able to access our details very quickly. He was very helpful with our booking process on the phone, and gave us all the information and advice we needed, followed up quickly with an email containing all the information. Excellent service as always, thank you.

Phone was answered promptly without a huge queue. Sharon was friendly, helpful and efficient - what more would you want?!
