Review summary

Premier Inn receives a mixed response from customers, with many praising the friendly and helpful staff across various locations. Reviewers highlight positive experiences, noting clean and comfortable rooms, as well as excellent service from individuals like Nicole and Rachel in Hamilton and Amanda in the restaurant. However, a significant number of complaints focus on serious issues, including reports of bed bugs at the Exeter St Davids location and inadequate customer service, with some guests feeling misled or treated rudely by staff. Additionally, there are mentions of maintenance problems, such as a lack of hot water at the Glasgow East hotel. While some guests appreciate the value and reliability of Premier Inn, the prevalence of negative experiences suggests a need for improvement.

The Premier Inn - excellent service and experience

The Premier Inn in London Suffolk Street by the Tate Gallery was excellent. Although it’s a self service check-in, the staff were on hand and attentive, providing an excellent welcome. The room was outstanding, the bed, pillows and size of room perfect. In terms of staff, the manager Chris and general support offered by Adrian was exemplary. The perfect customer service and the breakfast excellent. I stayed with three other families who were impressed with the service. Thank you for making our stay such a wonderful experience. I would come back any time.

Premier Inn Harrogate South.

Harrogate South.. what can I say.. the smell of mold has always been here , but this trip, I found out why. After I tweaked my back at work, I decided a nice hot bath was in order, filled the tub,got in, laid back, and looked at the tap in horror. The entire underside and the line that comes from the bottom of tap to the shower was Coated in black mold. It was Vile! I jumped right out, and luckily had a small container of sodium hyper chloride, I soaked the entire underside then cleaned off. Wasn't perfect but cleaner than it's ever been apparently. The shower curtain wasn't helping with the smell either, but that's not my problem. This hotel has always smelt moldy in the 4 years I've come here for area work. The management needs to have the cleaners pay attention because this problem was pretty obvious. There doesn't seem to be a place at add pics here, because believe me, I took plenty.

Stayed at Blackpool Airport 11th…

Stayed at Blackpool Airport 11th December. Disturbed sleep as room we were in was above front door. 7 emails later told as we didn’t get up in the night at least 4 times to report the issue then their Quiet Night Policy does not stand. If there was someone doing their job properly on reception this would not have been an issue. The guy on reception told us in the morning to send email and understood that we had been disturbed enough without ringing down every time the door went bang. Terrible after care customer service. After staying in o Premier Inns many times over the years , will not stay again and have cancelled a 2 week family holiday with them. Moral of this story is if you have an issue in the night get yourself awake enough to report it or get dressed and go to reception . If you don’t they are not interested .

Riverside needs some TLC

When we arrived at thr riverside we had to self check in, its lost the friendly touch, the machine wasn't working properly so we had to call for assistance as did 3 other people, the lady who helped us was stressed and a little off! But to be honest I don't blame her, she was obviously called away from another job to help us and others The breakfast staff were amazing really friendly and very happy with any questions we asked, as was the lady cooking My only real complaint would be the room! It certainly needed a paint as there were a few repairs in the walls which had not been finished! The room looked tired I did take photos Room 401

The first night the fire alarm went off…

The first night at the Premier Inn, Brentwood, the fire alarm went off at 1.30 AM for around 20 minutes, I was on the 9th, it took around an hour, to find out there was not a fire! A young man (Hotel Guest) had to run and down 9 flights of stairs to find out what was happening. The staff were clueless. Whilst Breakfast was OK the hot food was not hot. I had an evening engagement, I returned to the Hotel, just after midnight, the Hotel was locked up. Whilst I have no problem with that. I could not get in, until a guest was leaving 15 minutes later. The Key for the lift did not work. I buzzed for the night security, they must have been asleep. Another guest came down the lift, so l managed to get in. Not sure who manages the Hotel, but between the fire, situation / drill, the Hotel security and the Restaurant there is a lot of the operation that needs improving!

Staff odd

Staff odd. Lied to repeatedly. Locked out of room. Lied to more. Eventually gaslighted by a bully that attempted to intimidate me. Mx Bradley would not help with a simple request to witness that my phone was unable to connect to ISP services (phone call) calling it a matter of opinion. Told managers away for 10 days. Something for head office (after looking at the other reviews).

Premier Inn - the computer says no.

Premier Inn – Salford Quays | Friday 9/1/26 Hands up — I made a mistake. I’d booked two rooms for Saturday night but hadn’t completed the booking correctly for Friday. I didn’t argue. I simply asked reception if they could book me a room for my son and I. I was told there was availability, but I’d need to book it online myself. I’m not great with online bookings and was already flustered, but I did as instructed — with two reception staff watching. When I finished, I was told “your booking isn’t showing up.” At that point, honestly, I could have cried. After checking, they realised I’d accidentally booked a third room for Saturday, not Friday. Yes — you’re probably thinking “what an idiot”. Fair enough. But context matters: I have a non-visible disability received serving my country. I needed a bit of help, but didn’t feel comfortable disclosing that in a busy reception area in front of my son. I asked staff for help again. I’d paid for three rooms, yet the only support offered was a phone number to call on Monday. After 10 years of loyal custom, I experienced: • No empathy • No practical help • No compassion This isn’t about the money — it’s about basic human support when someone is clearly struggling. I do wonder what Sir Lenny Henry would think of the service I received at Premier Inn – Salford Quays.

Customer Service and Booking On-Line is Pathetic

The concept is good but you seem intent on destroying customer retention. I have booked my 8th visit in two months and having booked a family room I know from past experience that I have to phone and ensure I get 3 beds in the room not 2. Last time I phoned and spoke to reception who in the hotel I stay in are almost as old as the building and have been there just as long. Charming and helpful. This time I got diverted to customer service who I presume are not even in the U.K. as they have no clue. The chatbot is the most pointless and obtuse non facility I have yet to encounter. “Computer says no” TO EVERY REQUEST. The human I spoke to in whatever far flung land clearly had no concept of what constitutes security as having given both my booking number and name he then would not assist without my booking address and I have more than one and was not sure which I used so I quoted the two countries and postcodes asking him which of the two he needed. He refused to help. So because the booking has no facility to confirm the family room configuration, and there are two or three if you request a child cot, and there is no ability to speak direct to the hotel you are left with no ability to speak to anyone to ensure you have a good stay. Great location sadly lost in the poorly thought out corporate mess. I will likely be left ensuring on arrival that the room is suitable for our needs.

Shame on you Premier Inn

Shame on you Premier Inn for refusing to take in two homeless men in Manchester whose rooms -- overly expensive at £200 -- were paid for by charities. It was minus 6 outside -- disgraceful behaviour by staff there. It is no good Premier now saying they are going to strengthen staff training -- they should have known already. Travelodge saved the day and took them in --that's the attitude we need to see in the depths of winter, and they will get more custom because of it. Certainly mine.

Housekeeping and maintenance appalling

Premier Inn St Austell. Stayed there for 6 nights recently with my wife and the housekeeping was virtually non-existent and the maintenance in the bathroom very poor. Our towels were not replaced when requested, beds not made, floors not vacuumed, the bathroom extractor was full of hair, fluff and dirt and the bath non slip area was full of grime. On one occasion the housekeeper had obviously been in. All they had done was to empty the waste bins, remove the coffee/tea making equipment and dirty cups and taken the dirty towels. Non of these items were replaced or refreshed! In the bathroom the robe hanger on the door was hanging off and the door edge was becoming detached meaning it could potentially jam shut! I was extremely disappointed with this Premier Inn. It was certainly not to the standard I've experienced here in the past or at other Premier Inns.

Poor management response

We stayed here on the 1st January and we're attending an event the following day. Yes the beds are good and comfortable but the cleanliness of the rooms is not great. Carpet and sofa hadn't been hoovered, crisps all over the place. Carpets also really dusty and dirty around skirting boards. Woke up to freezing cold water so could have a wash or shower. This was a major inconvenience for us as we were attending an event and had to make other plans. No acknowledgement or apology from staff on checkout. Advised to contact guest relations who have only given a partial refund and think this is reasonable and a gesture of goodwill. Despite the fact Premier inn have a 100% satisfaction guarantee this appears only to be uf youve not had a good night's sleep. The fact that we had a major inconvenience in the morning doesn't seem to count!!! Really dissatisfied.

Usually stay at premier inns with business and taking the kids away regulary- not had a issue until now. Room was freezing, masses of condensation. Walls, linen, windows all soaking. 2 children unwell and was offered breakfast! Yay....with 2 children that lay down on the benches they were that unwell. Staff found speaking about me by my child. Told to make a complaint and all they can offer is a sorry. Absolutely awful service and will never use again

Money grabbing company

Premier Inn dynamic pricing meant room price shot up by £15 between price check and booking (2 days). They then added on a £10 'twin fee' for booking a twin room. Despicable and money grabbing. I will avoid this company in future.

We stayed at the Premier Inn in…

We stayed at the Premier Inn in Brentwood last night. At about 1.40am the fire alarm was triggered and continued to go off/on three or four times over the next 10 mins or so. Obviously this was very distressing and confusing as we evacuated our rooms - we saw no staff and were told by other guests they were false alarms. It was very difficult to get back to sleep afterwards. When I enquired this morning about making a claim for a “guaranteed good night’s sleep”, I was told that even though they were false alarms I wouldn’t be successful, as apparently it was to our benefit that the safety features worked - almost as if we should be grateful for the whole frightening, upsetting and pointless experience.
