Premier Inn Southend Esplanade
I’ve used the Premier Inn at Southend esplanade.on many occasions. I want to start by saying how helpful the staff were on our arrival and throughout our stay. It’s a pity they are having to work in ann Establishment that clearly has lost its way, which compared to many other premier inn hotels, this one appears to be in a slow decline without direction. There was hardly any one in the hotel and the restaurant area. Perhaps others have come to the same opinion? Our room was a lovely front room looking over the seafront, however the room was very cold and didn’t appear to warm up want ever temperature you put on the room stat, the room was clean to the normal premier inn standard, however the toilet paper, through the dispenser was all damp, was this because the rooms are not being used and hadn’t been heated? The beds were very comfortable and a selection of pillows to suit your comfort level. We booked an evening meal which was pipping hot and excellent value for money and staff were excellent. Shame no one else was using it, only 3 other couples in the restaurant? We had the primer inn breakfast, which should be value for money? However again hardly any one in the restaurant, only one form of yogurt was available? The fresh fruit looked like it had been used the day before and little selection? Hot drink were the normal selection and a good selection. The cooked breakfast looked the normal selection, however clearly due to low numbers in the restaurants, the food was either cold, over cooked or dried out, as it looked like they had batch cooked and hadn’t the turn over needed to keep them fresh. What a pity and I hope that management can somehow turn this ideally located hotel to the sea front and town centre, back to its better times.
