Customer service needs some serious work

Ordered on 26/12/2020 and still awaiting a dispatch notification. I get due to covid and the holidays there are delays but COMMUNICATE THIS TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. I have several subscriptions and all of them have been great at letting me know theres a delay and items will be dispatched a week later than usual. Just a week where as with Japan Crate upon digging through their FAQs it is showing 3 to 4 weeks!? And then a further 2 to 4 weeks for the crate to arrive to Europe! 8 weeks to recieve a crate that I paid $10 shipping for is ridiculous!!! If you are having issues at least put this at the top of the FAQ page rather than right at the bottom or better yet email your customers! I have now seen youtubers post videos of the contents which destroys all the fun and it definitely doesn't seem to be worth the wait, very disappointed - other sub boxes amended this issue and shipped all their boxes a week later and at the same time to avoid the mystery of the box being destroyed, Japan Crate should look at doing the same. I have contacted them and requested a refund. Let's see what happens. Update: At the time of the email I received from the team my order had not been dispatched, or I hadn't recieved notice of it, yet you stated that the order had been shipped and you were therefore unable to refund it. You then gave me a discount code for $5 which doesn't even cover half of the shipping cost. Its an absolute joke and I won't be using the service again. I'll be sure to get my 500K followers to avoid you too. Shame, as I was excited to share my experience with them. Almost a month after ordering and I still don't have a tracking number.

No Crate and you cannot contact anyone 🤬 until they feel like it...with updates 🦾

Ordered first crate Dec 14...still haven’t received any kind of tracking number or email saying it even shipped...sent an email asking wth is going on...still no response...but ohhhh but I get an email from them talking about a problem with payment for the next crate, you damn right I’m not gonna keep letting you take my money when you have done 0% to contact me or send what I’ve already paid for...btw of course it’s 2021 wth would a business have a damn phone number?? Not even sure at this point if it’s real or a SCAM?! I wouldn’t purchase if I were you 🤷🏻‍♂️ Switching back to SNACKCRATE ✌🏼 **UPDATE** after all the complaining, writing a review, ME having to Dm THEM...a month later they FINALLY sent me a tracking number. oh the appreciation I’m supposed to feel now 🙄. Yea that’s cool and all and if I ever get the crate I hope it’s awesome...but I shouldn’t have to do all that JUST to get a tracking number a MONTH after the order!!! Busy or not this got your attention and you clearly can get stuff done IF you want to Japan crate SMH **UPPERDATE** So right after this all went down they finally sent the tracking number altho like 2 days later it arrived...and it was SUPER AWESOME yea how about that for staying with the times, but the box really was dope AF so I changed it from a 🌠 1-star review to a 🌠🌠🌠 3-star but frfr the customer service is atrocious 🤷🏻‍♂️ Sorry but true...hopefully now that they are switching from slow ass USPS, that somehow in 2021 still exists, to DHL that tracking/shipping will be existent and much quicker 🤞🏼 I skipped a month and will give them another try because the box really was worth it 🥸

False advertising and not worth the money

Ordered a lucky bag from Sugoi Mart (affiliated with Japan Crate it even says so on the bag you get), really disappointing, I am complaining on their page because the Sugoi Mart page has not been claimed by a business. I’ve been to Japan and own some of the items they sent me already and know they cost about ¥100 each (about 79c in euros). The only big thing they sent me has a retail value of max €20. The quality of some of the items is very poor because they definitely sell them in the ¥100 stores. It costs me about €100 to get this bag including shipping, they advertised that the bag was worth more then €100 which is definitely untrue. Extremely disappointed.

I ordered a three month gift…

I ordered a three month gift subscription for my niece as a Christmas gift. There were a few issues with her claiming the gift but she did claim it. Readers can judge for themselves whether they want to take the chance ordering from this company. I placed my order for a gift three month subscription on December 13, 2020. The recipient I received listed 5-10 days for shipping the order. It did not indicate that 5-10 days excluded weekends, holidays and other days they did not feel like working. Today is January 12th. By anyone's standards we are well outside a 5-10 day window. The first crate has still not been delivered and I cannot yet track a delivery date. Japan Crate has fulfillment problems and cannot deliver gifts in a timely manner. I am currently disputing the charge with my credit card company. The site looks good but I would be very careful ordering from this company.

I had an issue as soon as I placed my order. Upon check out I noticed they charged me for 2 boxes when I only ordered one. I also was not told the shipping was going to be as much as the single box itself. I emailed customer service as you cannot call. And it took a week for them to get back to me and basicially said "oops it's too late in the processing to cancel oh well but we've canceled your subscription" they refuse to refund thier mistake and just send scripted emails.

My first and last time subscribing.

My first and last experience in subscribing to Japan Crate has been underwhelming. November 21st: Subscribed to Doki Doki box, hoping that it would arrive in time for Christmas. Reassured by their website that it will be shipped via DHL and arrive within a matter of days. November 28th: Receive the shipment notification including a tracking link to Japan Post (not DHL). Warned however that the link may not work for a few days, due to the volume of parcels at this time of year. December 16th: After weeks of the link saying the package "does not exist", sent an email to customer service. December 17th: Received a canned response about how the package was to be sent via Japan Post e-packet (because I lived in a remote region, or using a P.O Box) but due to the pandemic JP was sending them out air mail. Assured, that it should arrive in the same amount of time. (not told what that time was and no way to track it now) December 18th: I provided Japan Crate feedback on the customer service (not a happy camper). Indicating that I was not living in a remote location or using a P.O Box. December 20th: After further complaints, I cancelled my subscription a day before the renewal. December 21st: Received an email thanking me for subscribing to January's crate?! December 22nd: Sent a email demanding an explanation. The reply from them apologized and said they would refund the January crate. They offered no explanation as to why the crate was not sent via DHL. Only that it would now arrive on January 9th. After complaining further on their twitter feed, I was assured that someone higher up would contact me with some "options". I was contacted but only given a refund for the extra shipping costs that should not have been applied since it was sent by post. They did finally admit that a mistake was made in their shipping department. There were no options given even though this was their fault. At this point I was asking for a refund or a crate be shipped by DHL so it could at least arrive over the holidays. I would have sent the snail mail crate back when it arrived. They have not responded since then. Given their lack of action when something goes wrong and ratio of good / bad reviews, it looks like you have approximately a 1 in 10 chance of being "unlucky" with Japan Crate.

Super cute!

The box is super cute and there are a lot of tasty snacks inside! The shipping took about a month, but it is 100% worth it. I will subscribe again.

I love Japan crate

I love Japan crate. They have so many great options for crate sizes and content, plus fun extras like the claw machine. My kids love to get and try snacks from all different parts of the world and the Japanese snacks are some of their favorite. They like not being able to tell what it is until they bite into it, the surprise factor is great. Also for the price it's a decent size crate you don't just get one or two little things you get a box full of snacks and that makes a huge difference.
