Japan Crate

My first and last time subscribing.
My first and last experience in subscribing to Japan Crate has been underwhelming. November 21st: Subscribed to Doki Doki box, hoping that it would arrive in time for Christmas. Reassured by their website that it will be shipped via DHL and arrive within a matter of days. November 28th: Receive the shipment notification including a tracking link to Japan Post (not DHL). Warned however that the link may not work for a few days, due to the volume of parcels at this time of year. December 16th: After weeks of the link saying the package "does not exist", sent an email to customer service. December 17th: Received a canned response about how the package was to be sent via Japan Post e-packet (because I lived in a remote region, or using a P.O Box) but due to the pandemic JP was sending them out air mail. Assured, that it should arrive in the same amount of time. (not told what that time was and no way to track it now) December 18th: I provided Japan Crate feedback on the customer service (not a happy camper). Indicating that I was not living in a remote location or using a P.O Box. December 20th: After further complaints, I cancelled my subscription a day before the renewal. December 21st: Received an email thanking me for subscribing to January's crate?! December 22nd: Sent a email demanding an explanation. The reply from them apologized and said they would refund the January crate. They offered no explanation as to why the crate was not sent via DHL. Only that it would now arrive on January 9th. After complaining further on their twitter feed, I was assured that someone higher up would contact me with some "options". I was contacted but only given a refund for the extra shipping costs that should not have been applied since it was sent by post. They did finally admit that a mistake was made in their shipping department. There were no options given even though this was their fault. At this point I was asking for a refund or a crate be shipped by DHL so it could at least arrive over the holidays. I would have sent the snail mail crate back when it arrived. They have not responded since then. Given their lack of action when something goes wrong and ratio of good / bad reviews, it looks like you have approximately a 1 in 10 chance of being "unlucky" with Japan Crate.
