I had an absolutely terrible experience at IMO Car Wash - Houghton Regis, and I strongly warn everyone to stay away from this scam of a business!
I went there to wash my car inside and out because the next day I had to drive my boss to the airport. My car was not even that dirty, but I wanted it to be spotless out of respect for my boss. After waiting in line, a guy, who claimed to be Turkish, approached me smiling but completely indifferent. When I asked about the price, he said he needed to take a quick look at the car. He opened the driver’s door, the passenger door, the rear door, and even the boot, took a quick glance, and then came back with a big smile to tell me the price.
I was expecting something reasonable, but instead, I was shocked when he said £35! I asked, “For what? Just for vacuuming and wiping the dashboard and mirrors?” He assured me that my car would go through their Ultra HD wash, followed by a deep clean, and that I would be 100% satisfied.
But guess what? As soon as I entered the brush wash, the display showed the cheapest basic £5 wash! That was the first red flag.
After the brush wash, I parked in the valeting area, where an older guy with gray hair, short and arrogant, who seemed to be the boss, started arguing with my wife when she asked why the price was so high. His response? "That’s the price, take it or leave it. We have plenty of customers, so we don’t care if we lose you." What kind of customer service is that?!
While my wife was talking to him, he had barely started cleaning—two quick sprays of cleaning liquid and a few wipes with a cloth on one door—when she said she wanted a refund (except for the brush wash). Suddenly, the smiling scammer demanded an extra £3 because the old man had “already started working.”
This place is a complete rip-off, with zero respect for customers! They lie, overcharge, and act like they’re doing you a favor. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this place! Save your money and go somewhere honest!
