Terrible experience. My team had a job in the Stoke area so I went on google maps find find the most local hire shop for a generator/drip tray which was HSS. I phoned the contact number, I ended up at a central call centre which was fine, ordered the kit for a Monday delivery. No issues. Monday came, a subcontractor who I'd never heard of turned up with no drip tray and an underpowered generator. (3KVA instead of a 4KVA). This was confirmed by the driver of this company over the phone. We sent this away as it wouldn't have powered our equipment properly and our client wouldn't have allowed us to use it without a drip tray anyway. Throughout the day we had numerous promises of calls back which never happened, promises the equipment would turn up which never happened, being left on hold for ages, sent cancellation charges, told we were liars (that we rejected a 4kva generator which wasn't true). I got an email from someone who I'd never heard of at lunch time from fulfillment@HSS (pro service) saying that the equipment would turn up between 2:05 and 3:05, that never turned up either. (I was speaking to another guy on the phone at the time of this email and he know nothing about this) I paid 2 technicians to stand around most of the afternoon and we are now really under pressure both timewise and financially on the job. To top it off I was promised a delivery between 8-10am and the next day, the generator arrived at 11am with hardly any diesel in. I'm still trying to get the cancellation charges removed and the refund for the original order as I had to pay again for the Tuesday delivery! There seemed to be 3 companies dealing with this throughout the day who weren't communicating with each other. Absolute nightmare. If you want a local hire company who you can order with directly, don't choose HSS. I won't be using them again that's for sure.

Worked on a awkward site for getting kit on and off. Michael Dowler from Newcastle under Lyme branch went above and beyond to help with the delivery and collection of the hired kit. Moving forward i will be using Michael again for my hire kit needs
Well it was delivered, so that's good. I did try, twice, to agree a delivery date, but someone (don't know who obviously) didn't find that convenient, so delivered on the day that was convenient for them I guess.
No response from email to check the delivery address was correct, when I phoned was told I would get a call on the day to check, didn’t happen. Was told it was Tuesday (without even looking, and it was delivered on Wednesday! Not good customer service!
Quick response to my request for topsoil. Very efficient and safe delivery to my drive. Excellent quality with plenty of compost incorporated in the mix. Very satisfied - shall order some more soon.
If i could give zero I would. There is a lack of accountability, ownership or any form of customer service. No returned calls when stated, attempts to deliver the wrong item not once but twice and a complete lack of any form of service. Abysmal experience. The below stock response from Francesca also indicates what is wrong as not everything fits in one box. It wasn't an end of hire scenario, but a sale, and one which took three attempts to deliver and only after I chased them. Updated 9 May - had a call with customer service who took down the details of complaint. Not all information had been passed to them, which was disappointing, but they listened understood and took action. If only this happened sooner. This was a positive experience to end on.
No communication on delivery and had to keep asking for confirmation of delivery date. Even after confirming they changed the delivery date.
Took a day off work, to wait in for my timber delivery, no communication as to what time delivery may be. I called at 16:30 to be told my order will be with me by 17:30, unfortunately it never arrived. Not only have I taken a day off work unnecessarily, the guy who was doing work for me has now lost out on money as the materials never arrived, He could have earned money elsewhere, instead he kept today free to do a job for me, that never happened. Still not recieved the following day (26th), after multiple phonecalls, was told this would be escalated and have had no response, office is now closed. Will look into cancelling order 29th April, still no goods, still no communication. Will start the refund process through my bank! 5th May, Still not had my delivery nor have they tried to contact me. Still holding on to my money.
Order not delivered. I HAD TO RING IN SEVERAL TIMES order finally delivered 13 days late after 4 broken promises nice to see a response but no attempt to open a dialogue which h is very dissapointing I cannot see your business improving whilst you avoid engaging with your customers
This is the worst most unprofessional company I have ever delt with. My order number (W-YPMWQXRX) They did not live up to their agreement and after outsourcing my order for a shredder to another company who also got the order wrong, they then delivered the item which subsequently broke down 10 minutes into using it. After calling them they came and took it away to be repaired and then delivered it back to me the next day at which point it broke down again after about 15 minutes of using it. They then took over a week to pick the item up and was supposed to refund me the cost of the hire, but after 3 weeks I have still not had any refund and now when I call, they do not answer the phone instead they put you on hold for over 10 minutes before cutting you off. This is a terrible way to run a business, and I would not wish what happened to me to happen to anyone else. One days hire turned into one weeks nightmare, with nothing resolved or refunded.
Everyone was very helpful but the whole hire was a shit show. Pre ordered delivery of concreat cutter and dust extractor associated transformer and I purchased a blade at the same time. Monday no blade, Tuesday blade arrived only to discover wrong transformer, Wednesday yet another wrong transformer, Thursday additional transformer arrived and I started cutting. What a waste of a week off!
I found the right tool to hire at a competitive price and convenient location which was open on Saturday too. What I found clear was the description of how the deposit works that is not at all clear in other similar companies. Smooth collection and return process.
We tried to contact you to advise where we wanted the soil and gravel put on our drive, but couldn't get through, just was waiting for someone to answer. Then when the delivery arrived, we only received the gravel. No mention of where the soil is or when it will be delivered. Having tried to contact you several times, again with no luck, I phoned Selco who for 5 days could not find my account and no knowledge of the soil order. Eventually a lovely lady from Selco spent ages getting to the bottom of it and has arranged a delivery of our soil.
Great customer service! Online bookings are not flexible and noone is available despise sending a number of emails. However, the branch were understanding and able to provide great services I needed. Thank you!

I was able to order the fence panels and concrete boards at a most reasonable price and for delivery in 2 days! The delivery driver was very friendly and patient. I installed the fence the following day. A very pleasant experience all round. Thank you.
Speedy delivery, even to a more difficult to find location. Delivery guy was friendly and incredibly skilled. Happy with the product too! Will buy again!
