Globe Car & Truck Rentals Reviews

Update: after posting several reviews of dissatisfaction with the non service I received from Globe I received a call from their office. I received an apology and an offer to provide me with a cheque to cover the extra costs I paid for the car I was eventually able to rent from another company. I did receive a cheque and appreciate the attempt to make the situation right. If I could pick negative stars I would. I reserved a car at least a month in advance and when I go to pick it up they don't have any vehicles for me. I'm told this as pick up!!! I'm visiting Toronto with my two children, it's a Sunday when most car rental places are closed and you have the nerve to tell me you don't have a car when I'm going to pick up. I'm leaving Toronto that day and need to check out of my accommodations and I'm told that I need to understand the situation. No you need to try harder to help me. I will make sure everybody knows how horrible this company is. Looking at previous reviews I should have checked better before reserving with this no name of company. No wonder nobody has ever heard of you. I will makes sure they do now, but for good reasons. Dollar Rental on Carlton went out of their way to help me unlike this piece of s**t company. Stay far far away!!

Stay away. read other comments. Same thing happened to me. We waited for pickup forever at Airport. Small dent on bumper and they wanted over $2000. I was forced to pay as they sent it to credit bureau. My car insurance company and my credit card company both declined to pay the claim because Globe couldn't provide evidence of damages. I am suing you GLOBE. Thank you

I have rented from Globe twice prior. This was the third time I rented to go to Quebec city, where the car broke down. The 24 hour towing service told us they could not pick us up given they did not have the license to tow in that area. When I asked to just talk to a manager, just so I can stop being bounced around from person to person they told me I wasn't allowed to have even his email and that he'd "contact me directly". LOL so not only were we stuck in the cold -20C for 3 hours off the 20 in a blizzard, we got charged extra instead of a refund because they didn't put in the right sign and they keep differing to other people. I just want a stupid apology and refund for everything at this point. I will keep additional details off the review, but lets just say we have over 1000$ not refunded to us. I can't even pay rent at this point. And apparently talking to them privately doesn't do anything so here we are. Please just talk to me directly.

NEVER RENT A CAR WITH THIS COMPANY!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE and especially at the Berri Uqam branch. Very rude employees!

Was put on hold for an hour just to add a day to drive it to the USA. You can’t drive the car to the USA unless you call and tell them and pay a daily fee. Sure, except when you call you sit on hold for 20 min waiting before you can talk to someone, then one of their “customer service” agents answers and they didn’t know how to add a day, and put us on hold for an hour, finally they came back like “hi, who are you again?”.... they Didn’t apologize and was rude, wouldn’t give us their name. We emailed several times to address this horrible customer service and didn’t get one response. Crickets... seriously, they just ignored email after email. Completely ignored. Serious terrible customer service. If you read the other negative reviews you’ll see other horrible customer service issues. Not worth whatever cheaper price they may have, it will cost you Way more in the end. if the owner sees this, you need to fire some staff as this will hurt your bottom line as we don’t want to use you again and we rent a lot.

We rented an F150 truck from Globe Rental in Montreal for a few days. Globe recommended taking out the $1000 liability insurance, instead of fully comp. During the rental time, someone left an about 8-inch surface scratch at the back of the vehicle. We got the damage independently priced at $250 by three different reputable auto repair shops. Globe Rental charged us $945.30!!! They have refused to give us a meaningful breakdown of these costs — no doubt to make full use of our $1000 deposit. Do not touch them. *** Following Globe's reply below: Globe are using "alternative facts"... We, of course, contacted them immediately before leaving a review anywhere and it is only AFTER they rejected all our representations that we started leaving reviews. They haven't even allowed our review on their own site. We offered them quotes from the other reputable suppliers so Globe stating below they are not approved is nonsense — Globe were never handed their names and therefore don't even know who they are. It means Globe doesn't approve of any alternative supplier because it would lay bare their obvious strategy of hiking up prices. Of course we "still feel something is incorrect" but as I say, we contacted them already many times so pretending on here that we haven't is just a plain lie — as is the laughable offer "that they are happy to resolve matters." The way they "resolve" matters is to reject any objections outright so the only way to resolve it now is publicity and legal actions.

Want to be stranded? Rent from this place. Having to book my rental car late, realized it was Good Friday. The RELIABLE company's were sold out or closed a week before. Friend found, great prices. Well, remember...You get what you pay for. Nothing = nothing. Arriving on an International Flight, lugging two large suitcases, it took me 2 hours in the rain to find the kiosk. Their location is not very specific except too say close to several subways. Right. The entrance is NOT 382, but 384. I must have stopped 100 people and asked 20 stores in College Park. No one knew anything about this company. People could not find on google. Finally finding it-soaking wet from the rain. -what a fool - looking for their web sites art drawing. Nothing like that!!! The kiosk is as small or smaller than a convenience store ATM, shoved in the corner at the back with a small sign at the back wall by the escalator in College Park, Toronto, Ontario. The non emotional, non smiling, rep came on the screen. No car. No apology, no NOTHING. Asked why I was not called to be told car in accident not available. They do not call international numbers. Ok, you had my e mail - I received no e mail. They did not e mail. Now in panic....no where to go.... I asked who was to pay my probably $200 hotel bill??? No response. Asked for manager, he left at noon. No cars. No attempt to find one. I had no way of getting to the town east of Toronto that has no public transportation. Thank goodness the Delta had a room - $185 plus $40 for dinner plus a breakfast then cost then off to Hertz a RELIABLE company to pick up my car rental. DREADFUL CUSTOMER CARE. NO response to my letter. Thanks Globe for providing no car, lots of panic, and $200+ added to my trip costs. This company should not be in business! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS

My husband and I rented a Mini Cooper from Globe for a week in June 2018. We thought it would be fun for our road trip to Maine. We did our research and they had a good price so we booked it. On our way home from picking it up, my husband noticed the low tire pressure light was on. So after trekking home in rush hour traffic, he had to trek back to pick up a different Mini since no one had bothered to check that this one was road ready. No issues with the second car and honestly we loved it. However, it’s when we returned the car that we were disappointed. The agent who inspected the car upon return IMMEDIATELY looked at the tire rims for scratches and stated that we damaged the vehicle and now had to make an insurance claim. Let me be clear, a rim was scratched, not bent or broken or missing. Regular wear from driving. But they insisted and made a claim with our insurance for over 571 dollars. It’s also obvious that they make claims and then don’t fix the car because two other rims were scratched, the windshield was chipped and the gas gap was missing. All claimed I am sure but insurance money pocketed. They offer competitive car rates and then claim insurance money to boost profit. The claim was higher than the week’s rental charge. My husband even emailed the credit card insurance company to let them know about their little scam. All this to say that unfortunately we won’t be using them again in the future despite enjoying the car.

Price at rental office turned out to be 25% higher than price given in online booking. The agent did his best to justify this change with explanations about insurance coverage - still he never mentioned the price for the basic coverage, so we ended up paying for coverage that we already have with our own insurance. When You have booked the car and have arrived at the rental office you are in the net..
