Don't fly with Porter

Should have read this before booking - haven't even flown yet and already hating Porter . Apparently they can change flight times as they wish and if not more than by 3 hours, nothing you can do - even if makes a difference of arriving home in the early hours of the morning. So looking forward to my flight now...not

My family was at the gate to board when an onforseen thing happened to my daughter and was rushed to hospital so the staff at the counter said they would be able to fly the next day as this was an emergency but when she was released from hospital porter said sorry about what happened unfortunately we just donated $600+ dollars to porter an it was entered as a no show and no flight available sorry about your loss porter is a thief and a scamming liar

Porter is honestly the worst flight to…

Porter is honestly the worst flight to fly with, please please beware, you think you are getting a deal with your flight but it is all one big scam! The flights are tiny and cannot handle weather like bigger flights so there will always be delays and cancellations. My flight was delayed twice then cancelled on DEC 23!! I missed Christmas Eve wit my family, the entire passenger group was livid and demanded vouchers, the ladies at the counter dismissed us and told us to follow the refund process through porter online (they gave no toll free number to avoid angry calls). When you go throguh the process you will get a reject two months later and state “it was out of their control” no refund. How horrific! I paid $500 for a last minute hotel as my flight was cancelled and rescheduled Christmas morning! If I would’ve flew with another flight, I would’ve gotten vouchers at least. They customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I am out an extra $500 which should’ve invested into a proper reputable airline and gotten home for Christmas Eve with my family. BEWARE!!

5 flights cancelled

This is the 5th flight I’ve had cancelled by Porter. No compensation because it is a circumstance “out of their control” (late flight attendant). This was a connecting flight for us - Porter has no idea if they’ll be the ones contacting us for the rebooking or if the original airline will be. The absolute worst experience every time I give them another chance.

Porter Airlines non sale sale

I queried with Porter Airlines why the prices in their much advertised sales were no different from non sale prices. I received a quick response and a call from a rep saying he would look into the matter and revert to.me. Since then I've heard absolutely nothing and now they won't even respond to me. A cheap nasty little con outfit it seems

We're at hour 12 of delays

We're at hour 12 of "outside of their control" delays. We were told that the incoming flight was delayed, except there weren't any corresponding delayed arrivals so how is that possible? It seems like it's just a cop out to not compensate us. We've lost $120 in event tickets so far, TBD if we will be losing another $200 on the hotel. DO NOT RISK PORTER IF YOU HAVE PLANS (aka the reason most of us fly?)

Don't fly with Porter. They lie to avoid compensation for delays/cancellation

Every airline I've traveled with has always compensated for flight delays/cancellation. Porter does not, and uses 'Safety reason' as their scape goat to not compensate their customers. Even though it also mentions that the previous flight was late From Porter Website If your arrival at the destination airport that is indicated on the original ticket is delayed by 3 hours or more and that delay arises from causes within our control (but not related to safety) rather than circumstances which Porter could not have avoided by any reasonable measures (such as air traffic control decisions, adverse weather, political instability or security risks); 3 or more hours, but less than 6 hours: CAD$125 6 or more hours, but less than 9 hours: CAD$250 9 or more hours: CAD$500 My flight was delayed 10 hours with absolutely 0 compensation. Any other airline would give something to compensate. It is actually required by law to compensate accordingly depending on the length of delay. How does Porter get away with not doing it, they mark it as 'Safety reason'. Anything that would put passengers in danger, but does not include mechanical. Neither the airport I was departing from or travelling to had anything going on that would be considered one of the actual safety reasons that would permit an airline to not compensate. Porter is the worst airline I have dealt with to date and I've flown flair. Gave them a chance and they've lost my business. I fly every 2 weeks like clockwork and will be sticking with WestJet from here on out

If it was possible to give less than 1…

If it was possible to give less than 1 star I would. I chose Porter as they were the cheapest option to fly to NYC (maybe I should’ve known why they were cheapest) the travel there was fine. It was travelling home. We were scheduled to fly out Dec. 24th at 2pm. About 10am I get an email saying the flights are cancelled and we’ve been rescheduled to the 25th, Christmas Day. With no explanation or accommodations for another night in nyc, no vouchers nothing. Basically you’re flying tomorrow you figure it out yourself. So I called Porter and they immediately said they can’t do anything and to call Expedia (who I booked with) even tho porter is the one who has cancelled the flights but anyways. Called Expedia they said they can’t do anything since it’s porter who has cancelled things and they would call them on my behalf. 2.5 hours on hold on the hotel phone later we decide to just pack up and go to the airport and hope the agent at the desk can help us, since porter over the phone wanted nothing to do in helping their customers. At the desk the woman tells me that only the connecting flight was cancelled and that the flight from NYC to Toronto just left… even tho the itinerary changed to dec. 25 flights details. So she was nice enough to get us on a flight at 3pm with connecting flight in Toronto at 6pm. Since the flight took off late in NYC we landed in Toronto with minutes to spare to get on the connecting flight. Now there is 8 people who need to get on this flight and the pilot calls the other plane and relays this info, we were assured they would wait. Running through the airport and security we get to the gate only for them to tell us that they couldn’t hold the plane any longer despite 8 people needing to be onboard. So instead of holding the plane a little longer now you have 8 angry travellers on Christmas even who were suppose to get home for around 7pm to now there aren’t any more flights out of this airport (Billy Bishop) tonight… there’s only 1 other flight out of Pearson at 11pm (5 hours from now). We’re told that Porter will cover transportation to the airport which was $50 + tax ($10) + tip $10 total for $70. Fast forwards to now once I finally received my reimbursement of $50 as they cannot cover tax and tip they told me, hah! Tells me a lot about the airline if they are trying to nickel and dime their customers to save $20… back to the story, we arrive at Pearson and are waiting to board it’s 11pm now and we receive news that the plane isn’t going to be ready till 12:30am. Never again will I fly porter, even if it was free I wouldn’t choose Porter. Because of how they conducted this “rescheduling” that if I didn’t call and wait on hold for almost 3 hours then risk going to the airport to figure it out, while they did absolutely nothing to help out. Joke of a company, joke customer service.

They didn’t refund me inconvenience…

They didn’t refund me inconvenience fees from my baggage being delayed for my entire trip to Toronto. They owe me $172.00. They keep giving me the run around. I had to buy 3 new outfits and underwear as my stuff was stuck in the abyss

No customer support

Today I flew Porter from Toronto Pearson airport to Orlando. The flight left 26 minutes late without an explanation or apology. The flight itself was fine, and they even provided a lunchbox which is a rarity these days. Attendants were friendly. But it quickly went downhill from there. When I arrived at the Orlando airport, my baggage (golf bag) was nowhere to be found. I get it, all airlines, misplace baggage from time to time, so not great but it is an industry problem. But where this airline fell down was in customer service. There was not a Porter person to be found in the baggage area and even in the passenger check-in area - no one to help. In fact, a helpful JetBlue agent paged to have a Porter representative come to the carousel to provide customer assistance and nobody showed up. A call to the customer support line resulted in a message suggesting a five hour wait. Totally unacceptable. The only remedy seems to be an online form An airline cannot skimp on costs to the customers detriment. This is not a recipe to stay in business. I would stay away from this airline if you have any checked in baggage.

One of the best airlines in Canada

I live in Spain, and recently travelled to Toronto then onto Vancouver by train ( Via Rail Canadian/ which was fantastic. But coming back I flew Porter Airline to Toronto, As this airline is unknown in Europe, can make a recommendation for anyone who has to fly across Canada. They were one of the best airlines that I have flown, and the flight attendant Lauren was just fantastic. BA , Air Canada, Virgin etc learn what a good airline is!! Geoff Buxton

Service

We took our first flight with Porter at Christmas. It was nothing but a pleasure from beginning to end. Great customer service, clean and comfortable aircraft, free alcohol and snacks and then, when I left my kindle on board they actually found it and returned it to me. Thankyou Dani in Edmonton

Consistently Excellent Experience Across the Board

I first flew Porter several months ago and was so impressed with the experience across the board, I have chosen to pay to fly with them 3 times since. This, despite being an Aeroplan member with a ton of points (I'll save those for non-Porter destinations). I'm on a flight with them right now, enjoying the free unlimited in-flight wifi. The difference between this and other airlines is immediately noticeable - staff are friendly and pleasant, the planes are new, clean, and well maintained, the in-flight service and offerings are excellent, and the prices, flight patterns, and value are extremely competitive, if not smoke the competition. I recommend them to everyone for this reason. Well done Porter!

@porterairlines on January 07, for toronto to Montreal.After check in i got my boarding passes.then they told me that I can’t take that flight because of some confusion with my name. But my luggage was in that flight, which is still missing.Very disappointed with porter airlines.

Most bogus airline I have ever…

Most bogus airline I have ever experienced. Came to drop off my son to a porter flight going from Edmonton to Toronto. Flight got canceled due to some tecnical problem. No feedback on next service, checked in baggage and compensation for hours. Had to bring him back home yesterday..... Same thing happening today again.... Their airline license should be terminated...

First time...last time

Flight Porter 517, Jan 1, 2024, Ottawa Fort Lauderdale. Sked dep time 16h45. We boarded at 16h15. We sat in the aircraft till 18h00. Conflicting news from the captain and flight attendants. 20 people boarded late. I don't recall flights waiting for me when I was late. We arrived in FLL one hour late. Return flight 518 to YOW on the 11th, flight was late coming in, late departing, late arriving in YOW. Waited for luggage 30 minutes. NEVER AGAIN!

Lost luggage and no response

Had two Porter flights on Jan 6, 2024 to Portugal and my bag is still in Ottawa and cannot connect to them with any number they provide and GroundForce Portugal have requested the delivery of my bag and flight many times multiple times but no response. Family in Canada called Porter 3 times and they were not helpful. They do not care about their lost baggage. Avoid at all costs.
