A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????
Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Like many companies, they're fine with bringing in customers but aftercare is atrocious. Switched supplies in August and still waiting for a refund on the gas - several complaints lodged, daily calls and still being ignored or passed around from pillar to post. They're going to need more than a slick looking website to convince people to switch - avoid!

Very poor service, booked a smart meter twice on both occasions nobody turned up, when I contacted them, their response was sorry it had been cancelled but forgot to tell me. Bills seemed to double in the 2nd year. Payments continued ever after I had paid the final bill (may take up to 2 to 3 months to re-credit). In the end I couldn't wait to transfer to a new supplier.

Very POOR We used the company for one year then the prices went up really silly So we shopped around and asked Eceonomy Energy to match They say no We proceeded with the move but we received an hefty bill of Β£600 After a short while we paid in full as we were blocked from moving thus despite no explanation , no excuse , but quiet frankly a rather rude approach from the company We are now put onto higher tarif and although we paid in full the block is still not lifted, now economy energy seems to be abusing its power Ombudsman is contacted and five month later Β£50 good will Economy energy still holding Β£30 overpaid energy , despite the account being closed 2 month ago. Today on the phone they told us up to 28 day for the refund? Meaning if the refund isn't p[rocessed passed this 28 days i will need to re apply then another 28 days??? As for ombudsman, does anyone knows if they working along , if companies such as economy energy subvention them ? Total shame that any government would allow such loophole , such disgraceful attitude to be employed by large Uk running companies Disgusting

Absolutely shocking service, unfortunately it was not my choice of supplier they were the supplier when I moved in. I rang with meter readings which they didnβt use, got bombarded with phone calls and emails threatening to go to debt collectors with an overdue bill which I have never received and when I call them they say there is no account in my name and the bill was for the previous owner, but they rang me asking for the money! And they wonder why I am changing supplier!

And i wouldnt even give them 1 star. I left after only 3 months. They raised my fixed term an extra Β£14 for gas after 3 months. Realised their "mistake on the welcome pack". Waiting since sept 25th for a final bill to be generated. Received gas on 17th oct. Couldnt view for another 10 days. And im owed Β£212in credit. Still havent received the electric. And now today i find they have took Β£59 for gas despite the direct debit being cancelled on the 25th sept. Angry doesnt even cut how i feel about these thieves.

Absolutely Terrible. I moved out of my property on the 29 September and wished to settle final bills and close my account. I informed Economy Energy of this via the "Moving Home" section of their website in mid September, and further contacted Economy Energy on 29 September to leave my final meter readings, again confirming with an agent that I was leaving the property. On the 4 October, I spoke to their agent Kane via the online help tool to ask when I would receive my final bill. I asked him to confirm that my account had closed, which he did, and he said my final bill might take up to 8 weeks to process. To my surprise, I was direct debited Β£49 by Economy Energy on October 18, despite believing that I had closed down my account. I called their agents on 22 October, explaining again that they needed to close down my account and send me a final bill for energy use up until 29 September, to which they agreed. In the following days, I received a final bill, but incorrectly charging me for energy until 26 October. Since the 26 October, their agents have called me several times a day (10 times in 4 working days), where I have explained the same story to them over and over again. Each time, they say they have put in a request to generate an accurate bill (cautioning me this might take a while due to a backlog) and to remove me from the call list. However, each time, another agent has called me afterwards and I have repeated the process again and again. As I leave this review, I am in the middle of trying to resolve this mess, caused by Economy Energy incompetence.

I switched away in Sept this year and am still waiting 7 weeks later for a sizeable refund on my overpaid monthly direct debits. Very quick to take extra payment when I used slightly more gas one month, despite it balancing out over the year but not to refund now that they owe me. Nearly Β£200 owing, not helped they took further direct debit after Iβd switched away. DO NOT use this company.
