🚨 Disappointed with Costa Cruises Shore Excursion to Rome (Code#02FY) 🚨

Just a heads-up for anyone planning to book shore excursions with Costa Cruises — especially if you're an English-speaking guest. We paid €95 per person for what was clearly advertised as an English-speaking tour to Rome on 10 July. But when we arrived, we found out it was actually a bilingual tour shared with German guests, without any prior notice! The guide had to repeat everything in two languages, meaning we got half the content and rushed explanations in English, while the German part was much longer and clearer. It felt like the tour was really meant for German speakers, and English guests were just tacked on. There were 17 English-speaking guests on our bus — more than enough for a separate guide, but Costa didn’t provide one. Ironically, the Pompeii excursion the day before (also with Costa) had two guides on one bus, split by language. So clearly, it can be done! Worse still, I emailed Costa’s customer service and got a generic, dismissive reply that ignored key issues. When I followed up with more details, they stopped replying altogether. So if you're booking an excursion with Costa Cruises, be careful — you might end up in a bilingual tour you didn’t sign up for, and still be charged the full price. 😠 Feel free to share if you've had similar experiences — let’s make sure these issues don’t keep getting swept under the rug. #CostaCruises #ShoreExcursionFail #RomeTour #CruiseTips #TravelFairness

The worst cruise ever out of 50+ we have been on...f a Norway cruise on Costa…

WE went of a Norway cruise on Costa Diadema in June. It was the worst cruise - out of over 50 we have done on many different ships. The breakfast Buffet was a complete disaster, terribly organised, long queues, hard to access items, not being able to serve yourself - what is the point, when guests keep touching other surfaces like elevator buttons all the time? No free coffee after breakfast, many services have been removed or are now paid only. Generally, a stingy, mean, poorly organised cruise experience, much worse than other cruise lines we sailed with, and even much worse that Costa used to be.... Costa was always a low-class cruise, but at least it had a cheerful, generous Italian spirit. This is now all gone... Many standard services disappeared - for example, there is no longer salt or pepper at the tables and you have to queue separately to get some salt with your eggs... this is just insane! There are no tablecloths anywhere. everything is now charged as an extra. It is high-pressure merchandising everywhere, what used to be social activities have now turned into high-pressure sales meetings. The whole experience is low class, irritating and mean, and the buffet restaurant manager should be sacked for quietly standing by at the disastrous breakfast queues without doing anything. Return to earlier standards of service, arrange for multi-queue self-service islands at the buffet, and generally stop treating your customers like idiots trying to make them pay for everything!

We had an alwful experience with Costa…

We had an awful experience with Costa cruise lines. 1. Their application is not user-friendly and their informational campaign before the cruise was intended only to sell us upper package and next cruises instead of highlighting the embarking period in the onboarding day. Lack of instructions regarding the embarkation process. We nearly miss the ship because they showed in the application "all on board 6 PM" in our onboarding day without emphasizing that customs is leaving 4 PM and our embarking hour is 3:30 PM. 2.Our cabin smells disgusting, I believe that vent system from the kitchen somehow was close to our AC system and we could smell what they cooked. 3. No free tap water in the restaurants. The first cruise ship that requires to pay our tap water. 4.Dirty cups, forks and spoons in the buffet all the time. The suspicious hygiene was everywhere. 5.Long queues in the buffet 6. Extremely humble list of dishes in the buffet. Usually, the good taste was not their higher priority. 7. On Costa Pacifica Cabin 2202 is for the crew, two separated beds that they even do not have an eye contact. They promoted this cabin as standard and assign it to our friends. For 4 nights they refused to change it because they were "full". On the 4 our of 7 nights they found a normal cabin and compensate is with champaign for 5 $ and 5 macaroons. 7. Reception team was full of non-professionals. NEVER ever I will book a cruise with Costa cruises line. Don't do it too!

Frustrated with the Costa Cruise

As an avid cruiser who has enjoyed many vacations at sea, I was extremely disappointed with our recent experience with the Costa Cruise Fortuna on this occasion. Firstly, the check-in process was chaotic and disorganized. Despite arriving at the scheduled time, we spent over two hours waiting in line, with no clear communication from the staff about the delays or the expected wait time. This was not only frustrating but also set a negative tone for the start of our trip. The buffet service was horrible. There were long lines and coffee was only available during breakfast and snack time between 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The food quality did not meet the expectations set by your promotional materials. Basic items such as ice cream were not included in the meal. They billed you for it. Talk about nickel and dime you for everything. What a shame! We spent much time waiting and arguing with the Hospitality staff who were mostly rude and didn’t care for the customer. The language was another barrier. Staff communicated mostly in Spanish, Italian, and German. Few who spoke English had a heavy accent and hard to understand. We have been on several cruises with other cruise liners. This was our second cruise with Costa and this experience was particularly disheartening. I also sent a note to Costa through their web portal but did not receive any response to date. We will never consider Costa Cruise again!

Stay away from Costa!

If there was an option to choose zero stars for the rating, it would be absolute 0. If I just took the other comments here seriously before the cruise... Once they took your money, they don't care about you anymore. Costa won the title of the most terrible service I ever experienced in my life (and I experienced many). The atmosphere on the ship is grumpy due to unhappy crew members, the queues everywhere are terrible and almost everything on the ship is in a very low quality – the food, the entertainment, etc. That explains why it is cheap. It was important for me to take the time to write this comment to help you to avoid the mistake I did - stay away from Costa!

Utter garbage

Utter garbage, from the ship to the food to the entertainment to the rooms I felt like I was going to vomit and it’s not because of the ocean it’s because this cruise ship and company is horrendous. Stay away, go to royal Caribbean or any other company or u will regret ever going out of ur house. Complete trash, from top to bottom the company and cruise line ships should rename ships to trash cuz that’s what u’ll be staying in, trash.

Schip is verouderd, veel roest.

Just horrible!

Just horrible! It can hardly get worse. We took the cruise from Copenhagen to the Norwegian fjords and Kiel. Totally overcrowded everywhere. You have problems getting on the ship, and most often we had to give up using the elevator when we had to get to the cabin, even though we lived on deck 7. The breakfast in particular was absolutely terrible, where you had to crowd forward and use your elbows at the buffet if you wanted something to eat. The service was lousy, and the company tried to cheat with the Costa Cruise card, so that two excursions were drawn on the same day and same time. Only after standing in line for an hour at the reception and then being referred to the deck above, did we manage to get reimbursed the almost DKK 3000 that was involved. Of course, our luggage had also disappeared when we reached the baggage claim in Copenhagen, and only due to skilled guards we managed to find it. Never again Costa Cruises!

Costa Cruises Hospitality & Operation Director (*)

Costa Toscana Cruise Ship -- We experienced an incident with an uncalled Room Attendant who tried to hide something (I want to believe he didn't want to steal) as we caught him in a very unpleasant situation when we entered the room), and subsequently very poor Management resolution... Unbelievable unprofessionalism, wrong attitude & lack of respect towards the guests from Costa Cruises Hospitality & Operation Director, Mr Gustavo Garcia Rosas from Peru. His wrong approach was in front of his staff, and that respectively led to unprofessional customer service from some of the Receptionist and line Managers (not all of them)... On a positive note -- beautiful new Ship! Some great facilities. Some of the waiters are very nice, worth mentioning the top service from the waiters in the Archipelago Restaurant.

Do not recommend Costa cruises!!!

If you’re thinking about going on a Costa cruise, do yourself a favor-DON’T DO IT! Our problems began well before the cruise on the Costa Fortuna. We couldn’t get straight answers from Costa on such things as premium beverage packages and specialty dining. Was not happy to find out once on the ship that their idea of a “premium” bourbon is Jack Daniels or Jim Beam; or that the specialty restaurants Archipelago and Teppanyaki mentioned on their website and described by a Costa rep on the phone, were non-existent. Spent way too much of my vacation time arguing with Hospitality staff who were mostly rude and uncaring. There were many other communication issues but I won’t list them here. Additionally, the dinner menus were unappealing and lacking in choices. While the food presentation was usually beautiful, the food did not taste good and hot food was never hot. If you want decent food you have to pay extra for it. You can’t even get a cup of coffee in the dining room after dinner. If you wanted a snack after an excursion-forget it. Everything is closed down. We went on this cruise expecting the same level of service we’ve experienced in the past on other cruises but were very disappointed. Service, except for our lovely cabin attendant and a few bartenders, was terrible. Employees seemed overworked and not happy. Since we returned from this cruise we have heard that Costa is one of three of the worst cruise lines, which came as no surprise to us. We wish we’d heard this before we booked this cruise. We will never again go on a Costa cruise and will never recommend Costa.

There must be better cruise sompanies out there

**Cruise Review: Costa Pacífica** **Basic Info:** - Duration: 3 days - Route: Marseille > Savona > Barcelona > Marseille - Cost: Approximately 2000 BRL (357.14 euros) per person. **Positive:** - First-time cruiser; enjoyed the experience overall. - Crew, especially animators (like Igor, the dance instructor) and waiters (Naing Tun Oo), were exceptionally kind and attentive. - Understandable delays at bars due to high demand. Drinks are good, I recommend Pink Lady, Pink Panther, and whiskey Banana Cream. **Neutral:** - Italian predominance evident through signage predominantly in Italian with English translations below. **Negative:** - Reception experience ranged from good to very bad, inconsistent service. - Some misleading information and pressure to put money and get your card attached to your Costa card (which can easily be a disaster, internet is full of reviews about bad experiences with Costa company when adding your own credit card). - **Don't Lose Your Card or You Are Screwed:** I lost my card and resulted in unauthorized charges: geuss what, reception response completely accountability, almost as assuming I was lying and not helping at all. Also, The crew don't verify if you are you, so if you lose your card, you are limitedless screwed. - Early checkout (at 8:30) limited enjoyment on the final night. - Many passengers lacked etiquette and don’t even speak a second language. **Overall:** Despite the ups and downs, I would consider cruising again, but likely with another company, aiming for a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

Costa Firenze nightmare on Xmas eve

Costa Firenze nightmare on Xmas eve. I followed Costa guidelines to bring either passport or national ID card and they approved my documents(!) I was denied boarding on Xmas eve as they demanded both documents. Nowhere did it say and they knew I submitted my EU card which is accepted everywhere -hotels, cruises, flights. The worst cruise line on the planet! Also, they were rude and discriminatory.
