It was very easy to use Centauro, which I and my familiy has done for more than 15 years. During the last two years the service has overall developed and the price for full cover insurance.

Horrible experience. The only way to get there from Madrid airport is with a shuttle( badly organized) and once we got there we had to wait hours in the sun in the queue.

very fast contact with customer service they explained everything, and I appreciate the high and fast service, by rental they explained everything I needed.i booked then cancelled, the money was return fast same day. I can recommend this company, and key ready box is a excelent service
All was pretty quick, take and Return, no issues with the car. Same as the previous rentals with Centauro. Looking forward for the next opportunity.
Centauro offers the cheapest rates online to lure you in, then hits you with aggressive upselling at pickup that can triple your costs. I booked them because they advertised as the cheapest option in Crete. At pickup, staff scared me into buying additional insurance that cost more than the rental itself. They claimed I'd be liable for €350 for "a single scratch" and made me feel like I had no choice. After researching, this isn't isolated. Multiple customers report identical tactics: Advertised rates of €15/day becoming €400+ after "mandatory" extras Staff claiming third-party insurance "doesn't work in Greece" (false) Aggressive pressure tactics and intimidation Fabricated damage charges upon return BOTTOM LINE: Their "cheap" rates are fake. You'll pay more than competitors after forced upsells, with worse service and questionable practices. Save yourself the stress and choose literally anyone else.
Zusatzkosten durch legalen Mechanismus und unflexible Rückgabezeiten – Vorsicht bei Centauro Faro/Porto Ich habe über ein Vergleichsportal (billiger-mietwagen.de) ein Fahrzeug bei Centauro in Faro gebucht und die Versicherung über bereits online über den Drittanbieter (billiger-mietwagen) abgeschlossen – also nicht direkt bei Centauro. Vor Ort wurde jedoch ein ungewöhnlich hoher Kautionsbetrag verlangt: Neben der normalen Sicherheitskaution kamen noch Zusatzkautionen für Maut, Kraftstoff, Überführung u. a. hinzu. In Summe überstieg der Betrag das Limit meiner Kreditkarte (2.000 €). Weder Bargeld, noch eine Kreditkarte von meiner Frau) wurden akzeptiert. Als einzige Option blieb, direkt bei Centauro eine Versicherung abzuschließen – was die Kosten nahezu verdoppelte. Aus meiner Sicht wird hier ein legaler, aber kundenunfreundlicher Mechanismus genutzt, um Mieter*innen zur teureren hauseigenen Versicherung zu bewegen. Transparenz sieht für mich anders aus. Ein weiterer aber eher kleiner Punkt: Die Rückgabe des Fahrzeugs in Porto ist erst ab 7:00 Uhr morgens möglich. Für Frühflüge – etwa nach Hamburg – wird es dann sehr eng, insbesondere weil zu dieser Zeit viele Kund*innen gleichzeitig zurückgeben und man mit Wartezeiten rechnen muss. Fazit: Ich empfehle, das Kleingedruckte sehr genau zu lesen – oder sich für einen Anbieter mit klareren und kundenfreundlicheren Bedingungen zu entscheiden.
Grosse aranaque quand vous rendez la voiture. Ils ne vous signent pas un bon de remise, et ensuite ajoutent des dommages à leur guise, alors que la personne qui a fait le tour de la voiture a dit que tout est OK. Vous n'êtes pas prévenus qu'ils ont rajouté des frais de franchise, c'est seulement en regardant votre compte bancaire que vous vous en rendez compte. Surtout éviter cette agence.
Hi!I would like to make you aware to stay away from booking cars with Centauro in Faro Portugal.I am waiting over 3 weeks now for a 100 euro deposit to bounce back into the bank account.I rang several times to ask for an explanation but they said that everything is fine at their end and we have to wait.Now they are not taking phone calls!I am looking to file a complaint to consumer rights in Portugal because this is unacceptable!This was the last time using this company and I will advice everyone to stay away from renting cars with them!!!
Centauro lurar sina kunder att betala för skador som de gjort själva på ett ställe man inte ser även om man är noga. När vi lämnade åter bilen sa de att vi gjort två skador. Den ena skadan kan ha uppkommit i garaget då vi har parkering nära en dörr där boende går till hissen med sin grejer de har med sig från bilen. Den andra satt ner under kofångaren och man behövde verkligen böja sig ner nästan ligga på knäna för att se den. Vi hade lämnat deposition på 1100 euro men ändå sa de att vi måste betala för ena skadan på plats 270 euro. Vi hade fått vänta länge på att de skulle kontrollera bilenz De ville att vi bara skulle lämna nycklarna men vi ville ha den kontrollerad så var lite stressade inför flygets avgång och hann inte få svar på varför. Våra vänner skulle hyra bil dagen efter så vi ringde och varnade dem. De fick SAMMA bil som oss och tror ni båda skadorna var markerade på protokollet. Nej bara skadan som syntes. Min vän försökte säga till dem och visa kort på skadan som vi skickat men de ville inte ens se på den. Min vän sa att så här kan man inte göra men mannen som jobbar där var ordentligt otrevlig och ville in prata med honom. Han sa bara att det finns ingen skada och gick därifrån. Detta trots att vi fick betala för den. De drog 170 euro till på depositionen plus att de inte betalade tillbaka pengarna för bensinen. Den var fulltankad. Bilen vi hade hade gått 60 mil. Så helt klart gör de en liten skada som man inte ser och sen tar de betalt för den från personer som inte tagit deras försäkring. Vi har försökt kontakta dem men inget svar. Så passa er för Centauro.
I’ve rented cars from many companies before, but I will avoid Centauro forever. They gave us a car that suddenly stopped working on the second day—right in the middle of the highway. It created an extremely dangerous situation for me and my partner, and we were both badly shaken by it. When the car was replaced, no questions were asked, no explanation was given, and no apology was offered. To our surprise, at the end of the rental, our deposit was not returned. In a disrespectful and almost condescending manner, we were told: “I have bad news.” The €1,600 invoice contained no details—just the two words “neglective driving.” I could hardly believe it. We all know car rentals sometimes come with scams. But being given a dangerously faulty car and being treated so disrespectfully makes this experience even more shocking. I never write bad reviews, but I felt I had to warn others with this one. 🙏
I had one of the worst rental car experiences ever with Centauro at Lisbon Airport. I want to share my story so other travelers know what to expect. 1. Forced to Pay for Unnecessary Insurance I booked my car through Billiger-Mietwagen, which included full insurance coverage. I also had coverage via American Express, so I was already double-insured. However, when I arrived at the Centauro desk, they refused to accept my credit card for the deposit. Because of that, they told me I had no choice but to pay for their own expensive insurance if I wanted to take the car. So in the end, I was triple-insured – via Billiger-Mietwagen, American Express, and Centauro – which was completely unnecessary and unfair. It felt like a deliberate upsell tactic, not a genuine requirement. 2. Fuel Deposit Never Refunded – €94.50 Missing Centauro also charged me a €94.50 fuel deposit, which they promised to refund if I returned the car with the same fuel level. I did exactly that — returned the car with the same amount of fuel — but the deposit was never refunded. It’s now been over 17 calendar days, and nothing has been paid back. Meanwhile, the €100 toll deposit was handled mostly correctly: they refunded €62.22, presumably after deducting toll charges. That’s fine. But the fuel deposit should have been returned in full — and it wasn’t. I emailed them, but got no reply. They are not reachable by phone, and there's no way to speak to someone who will take responsibility. 3. Completely Unreliable Company Centauro has shown itself to be unprofessional and untrustworthy: Refusing valid credit cards to force extra insurance Withholding refunds without reason No communication or support Broken promises and zero accountability I Strongly Recommend Avoiding Centauro This was a stressful and dishonest experience. I’ve rented cars in many countries, and Centauro is by far the worst rental company I’ve encountered. Avoid them at all costs if you want a fair, reliable, and transparent rental.Also we had to wait 2 hours in line to pick up the car.
Arnaque pure et simple. Voiture endommagée au niveau de la carosserie au départ (photos à l'appui prises dans le parking et avant le départ). Montant de 717 euros prélevé sur mon compte bancaire en nous ayant reproché des dégâts déjà présents. Nous avons envoyé les photos. N allez jamais chez ce loueur, le Centauro d Alicante, ce ne sont pas des gens honnêtes. Faites bien un état des lieux avant de rendre le véhicule avec un de leurs agents, ce que nous n avons pas. À ce rythme, ils peuvent facturer à tous les nouveaux clients des dégâts déjà présents sur le véhicule. À éviter à tout prix.
I rented a car at their Catania airport location. The car was white and at the time of rental there was a tiny black fleck on the bumper (barely 2 millimeters) which seemed like a non-issue. At the time of return, the agent charged me 300 Euro for this tiny black fleck. I was appalled! I am a seasoned traveler and have rented thousands of times. I have never, ever, been charged for something that is barely visible to the naked eye.

We booked our car through the Tui app, along with our flights and Gatwick Airport parking with Cophall parking. Everything seemed fine and reasonable. We took out the extra cover insurance as advised with AXA at a cost of roughly £100. On arrival at the Centauro car pickup station Malaga. We were advised that the AXA insurance was not going to be good if we wanted full cover wheel scuffs roadside assistance etc,We thought that was the reason for taking it out here, No, full cover was with Centauro's own insurance, we felt intimidated and obliged to accept. On top of that the extra driver was charged at approximately €20 a day and another approximately €5 a day for the extra driver being 75 years old. Despite on there website they advertise no charge for the second driver. The contract said car will be full with fuel, the operative said the car was brand new and had virtually no fuel at all, and to return it empty, as if?? It cost us an extra £400 + we were hot and tired and felt pressed into buying I will say that this is the first and last time I use this company really feel conned and annoyed its spoilt what was supposed to have been a restful holiday for me and my wife.
Do NOT rent a car from Centauro. We paid a €120 fuel deposit when picking up the car, which they said would be refunded upon returning with a full tank (which we did). It's now been over a month and we're still waiting for this refund. They also took an unauthorised payment of €83 out the following day with no explanation, which is completely fraudulent. Have tried to contact Centauro several times but being completely ignored. Definitely avoid.
Esta empresa son unos verdaderos estafadores. Personalemente tuve una experiencia pesima. Alquile un vehiculo por 2 dias, imcluyendo una silla de bebes y le agregue, vendida por ellos mismos, una cobertura de seguro que costaba el doble que el alquiler del vehiculo. Devolvi el vehiculo con el tanque lleno segun acuerdo y veo que nunca me reitegran el saldo bloqueado el mi tarjeta. Cuando hago el reclamo me acusan falsamente y sin niguna evidencia de no haber devuleto la silla de los bebes. Realmente unos retardados, dicicendome que no devolvi la silla y que no le pude seguro al vehiculo. Cuando la relaidad es que devolvi el vehiculo con la silla en su interior y mi alquiler tenia puesto un seguro mas caro que el vehiculo. I rented a Category B car from Centauro with full coverage. The vehicle was in perfect condition and matched the online description exactly, so the rental itself started off smoothly. However, upon pickup, I was unexpectedly asked to leave a €209 deposit for fuel and tolls, which had not been mentioned at the time of booking. At least I was able to pay it using a debit card. At the end of the rental, I returned the car without any issues. They promptly refunded the €83 fuel portion of the deposit, and I was told the remaining toll balance would be refunded within 10 days. Unfortunately, it's now been nearly a month and I still haven't received the rest of the money. I called their number (+351 308810777) and was told not to worry — that the refund would be processed in just a few more days. But nothing ever happened. I tried calling again several times in the following days, but they were unreachable every single time. I even used their official contact form, as they suggest, but the case was automatically marked as “resolved” without any action being taken. That’s completely unacceptable. It’s a shame because the car itself was in excellent condition, but I will never rent with Centauro again. I don't trust a company that withholds money without explanation and then becomes impossible to contact. Beware.
Muy buena experiencia con Centauro en el aeropuerto de Alicante. Rapidez en la entrega y la recogida. Vehículo prácticamente nuevo, con solo 4000 km. Personal muy amable.
Aeroporto di Fiumicino. Annullato due volte senza rimborso. A Fiumicino ho prenotato un'auto domenica 29 giugno, la prenotazione è stata annullata ma mi hanno addebitato 390 €. La signora mi ha detto che l'importo sarà rimborsato entro qualche giorno, e ho ricevuto un voucher. Mi ha detto di non tenere conto di quel buono e che il denaro sarà restituito. Oggi, lunedì 30 giugno, prenoto di nuovo un'auto: l’importo viene addebitato sulla carta di credito ma non risulta nessuna prenotazione. Prendo l'autobus e vado all'agenzia. Due persone molto sgradevoli mi dicono che l’auto non è stata noleggiata e che l'importo sarà rimborsato. Davvero un comportamento scorretto da parte di questa compagnia. Impossibile contattare il servizio telefonico: 16 minuti in attesa senza risposta.
