Thank you BOI

A big thank you on this occasion to Bank of Ireland for obtaining a refund approx 90 days post purchase. An online purchase had been made from uk, the goods were returned and the retailer failed to engage re refund despite multiple calls and emails. 3 days after contacting BOI a refund was made to my account .

Small loan still not processed

This is a disgrace at this rate. I've had loans in the past with this bank and have repaid on time. Recently finished college and had some expenses that have left my balance thin for the last month, I applied for the loan on the 21st of June and still can't get any update. I'm working 9 to 5 so can't contact their loan department and the 365 live chat is absolutely useless and can provide no information. How much longer does this company expect to be operational with this customer service standard. Looking through all of the reviews, it's obvious that this is a common problem with this bank.

Apalling service when trying to open a new savings account. Despite getting copies of required documents verified by the local BoI branch these are still not accepted as proof when opening a new savings accoutn. No explanation just rejected out of hand. Obviously BoI do not want new customers.

Regretfully i could not give this company a minus rating. Absolutely appalling bank in every way, customer service is non existent, a clear lack of education and training to staff, and a complaints department who are biased and uninterested. I also made several efforts to reach out to senior management all of which were ignored. My advice would be to stay well clear

Very efficient employee BOI

It is just nice when you call a customer service, and they are lovely.. Yesterday I called Bank of Ireland online banking regarding the issue that happened with the "blackout app" in Dublin, as I was still unable to use my BOI App. A lovely young lady, VANJA I think her name was, was SO patient, really taking all her time to help me solve the issue. It is not only it's fixed, but just the way she was genuinely patient with a lovely voice.. VERY GOOD customer service.

1 star is too many

We were applying for the house mortgage after 20 years of renting in Ireland, we have got an offer - mortgage approval from BOI, and it seemed to be a romantic journey to the new home door step. It was actually disaster that took nearly 6 months to get the final key. Because of BOI delays. Our solicitor did all right and in time, now, the BOI team had done 2 times same spelling mistake on the letter of offer, they have printed our new address two times wrong, it took the time to fix. The main mortgage person with whom we were in contact has never apologized about this, more than that, we had few times to repeat the questions to get the proper explanation about the mortgage process updates. After I made a complain about their mistakes, the other lady from BOI has contacted me and has apologized but she was surprised about the issue with the mistake on the document. I do understand that mistakes can be and would never write a negative review, but this bank has sent by post 3 times the official documents to the wrong solicitor, they just did not bother to ask me to confirm my solicitor's details. Well, what can I say, the mortgage team of BOI is not professional at all. I regret that I did not choose the other mortgage provider.

Loan approved >2 months

Waiting nearly a month for a small loan approval. Loan tracker doesn’t update and called after a week for them to tell me I need to send in documentation(proof of adress and name). Sent all additional information two weeks ago and still hasn’t been verified. Called multiple times and told the correct information is there but no time is giving for verifying documents. Supposedly got moved to priority list last Thursday so this is the fifth working day since then and still absolutely nothing. *update. Still waiting after over 2 weeks once I went to priority. I feel like they just avoid you altogether. *update 2. It’s now the 1st of July and don’t know if I’m any closer. Nearly 7 weeks and have called approx 10 times. Not in a big rush for the funds so I’m being exceptionally patient but my god this has been the most ridiculous ordeal I’ve ever gone through. Update 3: Got a call from Dublin base on the 14/15th of July saying they don’t accept phone bill as proof of address after being told they did. Strange they don’t but even so. Two months before I get told. No wonder Revolut is taken over. Final update. I was approved and funds on 22.07. Over 2 months. Approval much quicker when I sent in another proof of address but it was all over the fact I had sent in a phone bill which they don’t accept. I rang customer support again and they confirmed they do accept phone bills but when you check the bank of Ireland website it shows they don’t. Updating to 2 stars cuz hey got the funds and Revolut are impossible to get a loan off.

Shockingly bad processes and policies

Been with this bank nearly 20 years and had nothing but trouble. Some of the worst bank structure and processes I've ever had to deal with. Credit applications get archived randomly when they have high volumes with no contact made by the bank so you just have to spam call every couple of days (that's literally what the support agents recommend). It's a bit of hassle but moving to modern Banking services like Revolut is a must at this point as Bank of Ireland shows zero intention of improving.

Excellent and straightforward service

At first, I was worried after I read most of the reviews here, however, I had no cause for concern whatsoever throughout the process. From receiving my AIP, through to the application and underwriting process, then post approval, all went smoothly. The staff I contacted were helpful and professional. All my queries were answered promptly. The underwriter(s) only asked relevant questions without any delays. Thank you BOI.

Zero stars if I could

Zero stars if I could. Recently trying to switch to BOI (my first mistake) as my bank who I've been with years are upping their quartly fees again. I applied online and all seemed OK, recieved an email with bic and iban and an email to say my switch will be completed in 5-7 working days. That was may 16th, switch still isn't completed and no one knows what to do when I call. 30 mins on the phone today to be told I now have to go into a branch? We're have all my personal documents been sent, they haven't a clue what they are doing at all. I feel like telling them to forget it and suck up my banks inflated fees as at least they have proper customer service
