Great teachers!

Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.

Excellent introduction to water no matter how young your baby

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.

Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.

Progressive and fun

Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

Waterbabies

Waterbabies, worth every penny! My son and I really enjoy the lessons, been going since he was 3 months old. The teachers are lovely, professional and approachable. They keep the lessons fun. Great songs which my son loves. My biggest reason for staying with Waterbabies is that they build trust with your child, and never scare them or get them to do anything they are uncomfortable with. Lots of teaching around health & safety too. Pools lovely and clean. I’ve tried other classes such as ‘everyone active’ at my local gym, who were awful in comparison, no structure at all and got us to pour water of our children’s heads without any proper warning, which of course freaked them out. At Waterbabies you learn “ready, steady, go!” which works a treat and builds up trust. My only constructive criticism of Waterbabies is that the changing facilities could be better, especially for post c-section mums who have difficulty bending. A lot of the pools are within schools so have changing cubicles for school age children, tricky if you have a baby who wants to roll around. There’s usually one portable waist height changing table but it would be handy to have enough for each baby in the class! Still worth it though. We switched classes and eventually joined a class at Nuffield which had better facilities.

Avoid!!!!

Avoid!!!!! Over priced and poor value for money & discriminatory teacher! I really wanted to love water babies but I really am glad my sons lessons have come to an end. The lessons were okay howver for the price you pay I do not feel that it is good value for money. The pool is small and cold it does not feel warm enough for adults let alone babies. The changing facilities are really crammed and not baby friendly, when the changing room gets wet it can be quite unsafe and dirty. The teacher (Laura) focused on a set few children learning their names and picking them for demonstrations however she barely acknowledged my son. I take my son to a number of baby classes and they are very baby led and the teacher makes you feel comfortable. However, during these lessons if my son was crying i felt like I was inconveniencing the rest of the class (for the first lesson I actually got out of the pool because of this). The last lesson my husband was in the pool, I could see that my husband was struggling with certain positions and despite correcting other parents she didn’t bother with my son. His head was going into the water at one point!! Now I don't know whether it’s because Im asian and Muslim but this is the impression this teacher gave as another muslim mother also felt the same! So if you are a woman of faith and colour you will be treated differently?? my son also missed a few lessons due to being unwell and us being on holiday, rearranging was quite difficult so I just didn’t bother. The so called inclusive ethos water babies promotes really isn’t carried out by your teachers! I raised a formal complaint and was advised it was going to head office but no formal apology was given by the teacher! Overall would not be recommending water babies to others and have booked on to local classes which are far cheaper.

AVOID!!

AVOID!! We haven't swam with Water Babies since June 2022 due to personal reasons but I had paid the term in full already -I've never asked for money back due to not being able to continue swimming , had an email today saying my account is in arrears and it will be passed to a collection agency as I haven't paid for the September term!! I emailed in August saying we wouldn't be returning to September!! Apparently it's in the terms and conditions you have to pay 4 weeks WHICH I'VE NEVER SIGNED OR EVEN SEEN AND I HAVE AN EMAIL FROM JULY SAYING I'VE *NOT* AGREED TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS NOR DO I HAVE AN ACCOUNT IN THE PORTAL. So I have NOT agreed to any terms or conditions and now I'm being threatened with a collection agency!! Only interested in the money! Wanting a payment for a term I'm not even attending and I haven't been since JUNE!

No changing facilities Misinformed about the lessons

. The only negatives I have to take away from the lesson was that we were told that there were covid restrictions still in place so my partner could not help me get her ready before and after the lesson and could not enter the pool until we were about to get in and then would have to leave as the lesson ended (which was fine as those were the rules in place ) however during our lesson other parents from the next class started to arrive half way through our lesson and sat by the poolside so I don’t understand how it was ok for them to be able to do this but my husband couldn’t stay to help me change my baby at the beginning or end and with no appropriate baby changing facilities this proved to be extremely difficult. I understand that water babies uses a lot of different pools therefore there may not be baby facilities but I feel that this needs to be highlighted in an email or over the phone so that I would have brought my own changing mat which I will definitely know for next lesson as that was very unsafe for my child. One major confusion was over the phone I was told if I didn’t want my baby to go underwater that I wouldn’t have to partake in that aspect of the lesson as it was a small part of the lessons however in the lesson the teacher told me that water babies main focus/ majority of the lessons is about water safety and teaching your baby the skills to survive in a potential drowning situation so there would be lots of dunking within each lesson which overall is not what I thought the lessons were going to be about so I feel very misinformed regarding what waterbabies is all about. Lastly, there’s a quick change over from each lesson I really wish there was just a 5 minute break in between each lesson either before or after so that we would be able to talk to the teacher at the end if we had any questions or concerns. Overall My baby enjoyed her first swimming lessons today, she already loves baths so I’m pleased that she seemed to have a good swimming experience with water babies but I’m a bit unsure as to whether I would want to continue now that I know submerging them is a main focus of the lessons because even though I was ensured that it is safe my baby ended up with a explosive diarrhoea which is a result of babies drinking water.

I made an enquiry a few weeks ago and since then, I have had MANY emails, phone calls, voice messages and even text messages! I sent them an email and made it clear that I am not interested and I'm still getting harassed! I've blocked their email address but they still managed to email me, I've blocked the number they text me from but they still called me. (Withheld number) You really think this is a good way to gain customers?!

My son has had lessons at Cardinal Wiseman. I really wanted to love water babies but I really am glad my sons lessons have come to an end. The lessons were okay and had some fun elements. The changing facilities are really crammed and not baby friendly, when the changing room gets wet it can be quite unsafe. The teacher (Laura) was in no way inclusive. She seemed to focus on a set few children learning their names and picking them for tasks however she barely acknowledged my son. I take my son to a number of baby classes and they are very baby led and the teacher makes you feel comfortable. However, during these lessons if my son was crying i felt like I was inconveniencing the rest of the class (for the first lesson I actually got out of the pool because of this). The last lesson my husband was in the pool, I could see that my husband was struggling with certain positions and despite correcting other parents and providing support she didn’t bother or acknowledge with my son or husband. Patient, kind and enthusiastic teachers

Have taken both of my children from 16 weeks to 3+ years to waterbabies north London. Really great teachers, very patient and cater the lesson towards each child’s individual growth and development from cautious babe to confident swimmer. Would highly recommend, almost sad I don’t have another baby to take through the whole experience!!

Phoned up to book my newborn son on a term of swimming lessons. Woman on phone said we have to pay right now as there was extremely high demand. Happy days. All booked on. Payed £108. Got all our lesson dates and times. One week before lesson get a phone call of a woman saying that we were the only person booked on for swimming so my sons lessons will not be going ahead. Unless of course we can drive 1 hour away to another class at an extra charge. Totally different story I was told due to the high demand ?? I’ve booked 6 days off work for these lessons. Only to make things worse the woman on the phone accused me of lying about me taking time off work for these lessons, most patronising phone call I’ve ever had off a business that seemingly has such high reviews. I felt it was me who was in the wrong and they were doing me a favour. Absolute shocking customer service and company. There’s a lot of reviews outside of trip advisor stating that this business isn’t up to scratch. I wouldn’t trust this company with my child after looking at reviews outside Trustpilot. Would definitely not recommend. And would question the professionalism and quality of the staff. Disgusting experience
