Review summary
Rightmove has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about communication and customer service.
Find the agents in your area and email them direct- much easier than Rightmove
Right move is set up to sell financial services (like mortgage products) and promote estate agencies that pay for additional promotion.
Registration is painful, taking 5 mins to wade through their security protocols
I would give minus stars if possible.
Our letting agent uses Rightmove referencing: So the Rightmove rep, Craig called my wife and within 30 seconds insisted on access to her bank account (?!). Then, when she declined and offered the usual payslips and statements, the rep said, "You want this property, get over it and swallow the pill".
I have never heard such unprofessional nonsense in my entire life. I am absolutely insensed and who in their right mind would give bank account access to a complete stranger in Ireland???
Who the hell do these people think they are? Does anyone trust 'Rightmove' with their personal financial data, you'd have to be insane.
Heads Up!
Very poor reference service from RightMove.
I had a doubtful pleasure to deal with Right Move reference services. It took ages to establish what documents they need in what format and we had to get employers involved multiple times.
Misleading information provided by various employees leading to a very stressful week resulting in apologies (still awaiting written apologies) due to mistakes made by RightMove.
Perhaps it is because we are not British Citizens but only residents. It felt racist in the end when we were questioned all over about the same things.
Definitely huge room for improvement. I would suggest streamlining processes, perhaps lean management methodology would help. Moreover, if so many people are dealing with a single enquiry it must go wrong.
Avoid at all costs if you can.
Update
Written apologies received. At least that...
Awful customer service !!
They are very very expensive, they don’t do their checks properly and always asking for more and more documents without giving you a reason why they need them ! It looked like there was no communication between the agent and the company that was doing the checks.
They are very annoying by sending you and your employer numerous emails and giving a lot of phone calls without giving you enough time to reply or find everything you need !
I would not recommend Rightmove to anyone, please use another service to safe yourself a lot of headache !
Having recently written a review providing only one star, having had the situation resolved by Rightmove's website managers, it is only right to state that with the matter resolved, I am completely happy with the Rightmove website - and if I could, I would delete the one-star review; however, I don't know how to.
Very impressed with Rightmove’s speedy action in removing incorrect photos from my house records.
It makes a pleasant change to have a problem sorted efficiently!
I dealt with Megan who could not have been nicer so helpful and pleasant explained everything to me and advised me on all my questions my whole experience was brilliant amazing service 10/10
Will Mills, (Norwich) has been really helpful and has given 100% effort in helping me understand housing and renting. He's taken personal care as though it really mattered to him, wouldnt reccomend anyone else. 👍
Found a property to rent through Rightmove, booked a viewing, asked the agent for an application for hubby and me. This came by email, and a pin ??!! (never heard of this before, makes things more complicated than they need to be) by text. As I was rooting out some info to send, the b****y thing timed out and when I went to find my pin as it wouldn't let me continue without it, the texts for me and my hubby had disappeared, don't know how or why. So 2 days ago I immediately emailed the link given for help to ask for a resend and by yesterday pm it hadn't arrived. Bearing in mind the competition for properties, I rang the agent to see whether they could send it, but no, it's all done by the Rightmove referencing service. Well God help us, having read some of the reviews! So I duly rang Rightmove on the given number, and guess what? This isn't a freephone number so I wasted my time and money for the pleasure of hanging about while no-one answered, listening to the usual inane stuff including that emails are answered as soon as possible. Oh really!!! My mobile keeps cutting off in my present location so I was obliged to use the landline, which I hate doing, moreso when I'm paying for the sheer inefficiency and ineffectualness of a company. So here we are today, no pin so far. Fortunately my hubby's pin was resent in a reminder text as he hadn't started his application, so at least one of us has a foot in the door. However, I take the problems encountered by others as a cautionary tale because my hubby has to email his HR team to have a reference forwarded, and although he has emailed to tell the Rightmove referencing team this, I hold out no hopes that this is going to go smoothly at their end. If a pin hasn't arrived by tomorrow, I'm going to call H&H at Carlisle and ask them why they are employing a referencing agency staffed by a bunch of buffoons with no motivation to move things according to the urgency of the situation.
Thank you for your reply but I am wasting no more time on this. It's up to you to monitor how emails and phone calls are being answered if at all.
Further update: A very patient lady from Rightmove rang to explain that the applications had gone through to the agent okay without the necessary docs and that suitable applications would be forwarded to the landlord to choose, and then the referencing would take place for the successful applicant. Why does the application ask for the attachment of docs if it isn't necessary at this stage? In any case it was concerning to think that I might not have reached the end of the application because it timed out, and that my hubby's reference had not been received, so someone should have answered my email and explained this, not just totally ignored it. And there is still the issue of phone calls not being answered within a reasonable time. The lady who rang said that these issues were being looked into. Anyway, my thanks to her for taking the time and trouble to respond to my complaint and for being patient while I expressed my frustration at being ignored.
Rightmove is plagued with misleading listings and they don’t seem to care. The worst culprits are rooms in house shares being listed as studios or 1 bed flats. It’s frustrating, wastes time, and leads to disappointment. I can only assume agents do this to increase the number of ad views but it’s false advertising and should be discouraged. Listings should be checked for accuracy or what’s the point of search filters. We shouldn’t have to read through the description to discover the listing is not what it says it is. This wouldn’t be acceptable in any other setting so it shows a poor standard of care, quality and customer service on Rightmove’s part. The option for users to report errors isn’t even available in app and when you do submit a report online nothing changes. Don’t even get me started on agents being allowed to list without property images. If you need listing moderators then hire them - get it together Rightmove! PS Please don’t ask me to call/email with examples, just do a search on the website and see for yourself.
