Underwhelming service.
Found a property to rent through Rightmove, booked a viewing, asked the agent for an application for hubby and me. This came by email, and a pin ??!! (never heard of this before, makes things more complicated than they need to be) by text. As I was rooting out some info to send, the b****y thing timed out and when I went to find my pin as it wouldn't let me continue without it, the texts for me and my hubby had disappeared, don't know how or why. So 2 days ago I immediately emailed the link given for help to ask for a resend and by yesterday pm it hadn't arrived. Bearing in mind the competition for properties, I rang the agent to see whether they could send it, but no, it's all done by the Rightmove referencing service. Well God help us, having read some of the reviews! So I duly rang Rightmove on the given number, and guess what? This isn't a freephone number so I wasted my time and money for the pleasure of hanging about while no-one answered, listening to the usual inane stuff including that emails are answered as soon as possible. Oh really!!! My mobile keeps cutting off in my present location so I was obliged to use the landline, which I hate doing, moreso when I'm paying for the sheer inefficiency and ineffectualness of a company. So here we are today, no pin so far. Fortunately my hubby's pin was resent in a reminder text as he hadn't started his application, so at least one of us has a foot in the door. However, I take the problems encountered by others as a cautionary tale because my hubby has to email his HR team to have a reference forwarded, and although he has emailed to tell the Rightmove referencing team this, I hold out no hopes that this is going to go smoothly at their end. If a pin hasn't arrived by tomorrow, I'm going to call H&H at Carlisle and ask them why they are employing a referencing agency staffed by a bunch of buffoons with no motivation to move things according to the urgency of the situation. Thank you for your reply but I am wasting no more time on this. It's up to you to monitor how emails and phone calls are being answered if at all. Further update: A very patient lady from Rightmove rang to explain that the applications had gone through to the agent okay without the necessary docs and that suitable applications would be forwarded to the landlord to choose, and then the referencing would take place for the successful applicant. Why does the application ask for the attachment of docs if it isn't necessary at this stage? In any case it was concerning to think that I might not have reached the end of the application because it timed out, and that my hubby's reference had not been received, so someone should have answered my email and explained this, not just totally ignored it. And there is still the issue of phone calls not being answered within a reasonable time. The lady who rang said that these issues were being looked into. Anyway, my thanks to her for taking the time and trouble to respond to my complaint and for being patient while I expressed my frustration at being ignored.
