Untrustworthy

Firstly, Princess Cruises turned out to be quite unreliable. We had six shore excursions planned, but the most important one — viewing the glaciers and icebergs — was canceled without adequate explanation. Another excursion, originally meant to take us to the city of Victoria, was substituted with a visit to a much smaller, unremarkable location, the name of which we don’t even remember. For these cancellations and itinerary changes, we were given just $200 USD per person as compensation — and even that had to be spent onboard. This felt insufficient and disappointing. Secondly, getting access to drinking water onboard was surprisingly inconvenient. Guest cabins were located between decks 6 and 14 (we stayed on deck 8), but the only place with self-serve drinking water was on deck 15. Each time we needed water, we had to carry our own thermos all the way up, and elevator wait times could be long. Alternatively, bottled water (800ml) was available at the bar for over $3 USD each, but the bar staff were not always honest. On three occasions when two bottles were purchased, the family was twice charged for three. Refunds were only issued after complaints were made at the front desk.

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. This is the 8th cruise we’ve been on (including others from the same group - Royal Caribbean & Celebrity). The ship (Sun Princess) is nice, but unless you are a meat eating American who likes X-factor style singers it isn’t for you. The breakfast consists of around 20 stations, 17 of which seem to serve variations of exactly the same thing (bacon, sausage, beans, egg - and pretty much in the same format - e.g. there are no poached eggs or eggs Florentine.). The buffet for dinner and tea is also poor. Same every day, and not great quality. It's also very bland. There are a couple of token Indian dishes, and even those are bland too. The entertainment is naff singers for the main part. We had 2 dreadful comedians. The only bright spot was the magician (Mike Bones) who was great. You have to pay for shuttles, the sunbeds get nabbed and left reserved all day without Princess doing anything about it, and even the kids sports area has basketballs but no football! It’s like non-Americans and non-meat eaters are second class citizens. Even the sandwich bar often only has a choice of meat sandwiches half of the time. On top of that they force you to carry a tracker, and they state on their app that they are capturing your facial recognition data (no idea why, but it surely is unnecessary and seems a breach of privacy). I asked for a normal card rather than the tracker pendant (which is magnetic and emits EMF) but they said I couldn’t have a card. I was looking forward to better entertainment and much better food, but left disappointed. This is the worse cruise we’ve been on for food, sport, entertainment and privacy. I’m posting the review here, rather than at the end of the cruise, as if my experience with Celebrity is anything to go by, they tend not to bother listening to genuine feedback.

We booked the Princess Premier Package…

We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise

Don't pay debts from casino wins

Booked a 50th family cruise in October. Had nice time, Talked into trying casino & given instructions how play by staff. Won a few times and felt good. Told winnings were auto banked back to my account like were taken. Came off cruise and 5 months later still no payout just excuses cheque in post. So anyone thinking doing don't as they robbed us. Quick to take but don't payout debts. Typical American company stealing. Shame as like I said regal ship & crew were great.

Terrible boarding.

Terribly run boarding performance. Total confusion! A muti billion dollar corporation and they were not using a PA system. They had several "in charge" but giving out confusing information. An absolute calamity.

Awful phone & customer service - 1hr30 min waits

It's so hard to contact by phone (or using online forms). Online forms go unanswered, and phones can ring for over a 1hr 30 mins before answered. When did that sort of service become acceptable? Doesn't matter how pretty your ships are or great the itineraries are if you can't actually reach the company to deal with any changes or issues. I do dozens of cruises every year but will never book Princess again and advise everyone else to avoid.

I'd like to thank a guy named Sam…

I'd like to thank a guy named Sam Kinnaird in Southampton customer service for absolute 5 star customer service. After umpteen problems with Covid cancellations over the last couple of years we've just had a cruise cancelled to Russia. Sam got us our refund double quick and answered emails quickly and helpfully. Thank Sam 10/10!

I have never been on cruise before and…

I have never been on cruise before and I had a couple of issues, one about the deposit which said I had not paid and my cruise would be cancelled but I was still on the cruise as they wanted the full amount in July for an October cruise which is normal and the other was about the club medallion app which is beyond useless.I managed to speak to someone after ten minutes and told her the situation but she said in poor English that I needed to speak to another department which she would pass my call to,but no it was back to the main switchboard.Thirty minutes later still no answer.Pathetic customer service,I feel like cancelling with this company.

Poor support.

I have been a customer with Princess Cruises for many years but I am sad to say that it appears that customer support services have fallen to zero. Why on the hell don't you answer the phone, and stop saying that your customers are important to you. WORDS are cheap. A very frustrated customer. Barry Couchman. 16.03.22.

UNABLE to contact family on cruise

UNABLE to contact family on cruise . I am unable to talk to any of the administrative staff and need to urgently contact my family who is on a cruise. I held the phone line for 15 minutes and tried several times in the day. There are no other avenues to make contact and the suggested phone number to use from their website in order to make contact with the ship does not work. This is terribly worrying and unsatisfactory.

Worst cruise ever, princess cruises…

Went on a cruise with princess cruises in jan 2022. Worst cruise I have ever been on. And we have been on about 8 brilliant cruises, didn't dock in one port because covid, ok , but we also didn't dock in another because the captain said, (they weren't ready for us).this was unacceptable, also I understand companies need to recuperate losses. But we spent 4 times more on this cruise than any other in the past, ok I did buy a ring .but they also want you to use the medallion app. But you pay to use that .as you need to buy internet 2 use it. Had far to many days at sea.convineant for princess, as all you had to do was eat, sunbathe and shop, shop, shop. They were encouraging ladies young and old to take out a credit card to buy in the effy jewelry shop. Not good. Bed was worst I have slept in on a cruise. Mattress was old ,so they put a topper on top. Draws wouldn't open properly to put cloths in. This cruise has actually put us off cruising, paid for 3 restaurant dining, two were horrible. But must admit 3rd was brilliant. Sorry princess first and last time cruising with you, 😬

Suprised they dont read reviews

Suprised they dont read reviews. They have taken bookings for young children but have a blanket policy that children of all ages cannot travel unless vaccinated. Reality is under 12s are not vaccinated in the UK at all, as well as Europe. To impose that rule is unfair, esp if you have a booking; as journey is UK to Europe and back with no USA; and its an endless waiting game to see if the rules change before travel. Its even more annoying if you have to pay and arrange for visas. They need to review their rules in interest of fairness.
