Untrustworthy

Firstly, Princess Cruises turned out to be quite unreliable. We had six shore excursions planned, but the most important one — viewing the glaciers and icebergs — was canceled without adequate explanation. Another excursion, originally meant to take us to the city of Victoria, was substituted with a visit to a much smaller, unremarkable location, the name of which we don’t even remember. For these cancellations and itinerary changes, we were given just $200 USD per person as compensation — and even that had to be spent onboard. This felt insufficient and disappointing. Secondly, getting access to drinking water onboard was surprisingly inconvenient. Guest cabins were located between decks 6 and 14 (we stayed on deck 8), but the only place with self-serve drinking water was on deck 15. Each time we needed water, we had to carry our own thermos all the way up, and elevator wait times could be long. Alternatively, bottled water (800ml) was available at the bar for over $3 USD each, but the bar staff were not always honest. On three occasions when two bottles were purchased, the family was twice charged for three. Refunds were only issued after complaints were made at the front desk.

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. This is the 8th cruise we’ve been on (including others from the same group - Royal Caribbean & Celebrity). The ship (Sun Princess) is nice, but unless you are a meat eating American who likes X-factor style singers it isn’t for you. The breakfast consists of around 20 stations, 17 of which seem to serve variations of exactly the same thing (bacon, sausage, beans, egg - and pretty much in the same format - e.g. there are no poached eggs or eggs Florentine.). The buffet for dinner and tea is also poor. Same every day, and not great quality. It's also very bland. There are a couple of token Indian dishes, and even those are bland too. The entertainment is naff singers for the main part. We had 2 dreadful comedians. The only bright spot was the magician (Mike Bones) who was great. You have to pay for shuttles, the sunbeds get nabbed and left reserved all day without Princess doing anything about it, and even the kids sports area has basketballs but no football! It’s like non-Americans and non-meat eaters are second class citizens. Even the sandwich bar often only has a choice of meat sandwiches half of the time. On top of that they force you to carry a tracker, and they state on their app that they are capturing your facial recognition data (no idea why, but it surely is unnecessary and seems a breach of privacy). I asked for a normal card rather than the tracker pendant (which is magnetic and emits EMF) but they said I couldn’t have a card. I was looking forward to better entertainment and much better food, but left disappointed. This is the worse cruise we’ve been on for food, sport, entertainment and privacy. I’m posting the review here, rather than at the end of the cruise, as if my experience with Celebrity is anything to go by, they tend not to bother listening to genuine feedback.

We booked the Princess Premier Package…

We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise

Ridiculous no customer service

Ridiculous no customer service. App is junk and doesn’t work. No compensation for hours spent on hold. Agents say they will call back and don’t.

We book a cruise in April 2021

We book a cruise in April 2021, May 2021 on a deal, In January of 2022 they changed our room for our November 2022 cruise. That was not a problem but when I went to print the change we found out they charged us $1,272.00 more than the orginal cruise. I called them up and finally got a person who could not or would not help me, so Sandy tranfered me that was 2 hours and 20 minutes ago. Really disappointed and if we do end up on this cruise will be our last one.

Going Downhill

After having a couple of wonderful cruises with princess pre pandemic we looked forward to our Seacation in September on Sky Princess. We made the most of it and enjoyed being at sea again, but the experience had some real shortfalls. Food was hit and miss. It was evident cut backs were being made, even in the speciality restaurants. I couldn’t count how many times we were told things on the menu were not available. I was served raw ‘boiled’ eggs for breakfast in the main dining room (and I mean hadn’t even touched the water) The waiter said he was nervous they would be over cooked and to let him know if so, which did give us a little giggle. We had a lovely meal in Sabatini’s although they did forget to serve one of our courses. The wait for a drink was up to 40 mins at the bars and we got to the point where we just asked what wines were actually available from the list as everything seemed to have ‘run out’ When finding a table in the evening it would be full of empty glasses already and they would remain there all night. Not nearly enough staff to cope. On sail away I felt so sorry for the bar staff running around on the pool deck in absolute chaos with everyone complaining about how long they had been waiting. We were given the wrong drinks on one occasion and politely mentioned it to the waitress who told us ‘I’m going on my break now, go up to the bar and ask someone else!’ I put the shortfalls of housekeeping down to covid as we told by our room steward on arrival that it would be limited. Although I hope a turndown service and room amenities such as robes will be available on future cruises and not now be a another princess cutback. My husband had also ordered champagne and strawberries for the room on arrival for us as a surprise. The strawberries were there but instead of a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket, a voucher was left to go and collect a bottle later from one of the bars or restaurants. This was disappointing as it defeated the whole point. So we just left the champagne for when we went to Bistro Sur La Mer one night- the restaurant manager then made us feel it was a real inconvenience for her to try and locate a bottle. I have to say the entertainment was really great, Rock Opera and the Jazz in Take 5 were real highlights, the bar service in Take 5 was also better. The Medallion and app is just a nuisance, every day we had to ask to have incorrectly charged items removed from our bill! We have another upcoming 14 night cruise booked with princess (booked prior to the seacation) and the app does not recognise the booking number for us to fill in the required pre cruise information and nobody at princess seems to be able to help us rectify the issue. It’s just stressful and time consuming! Please get it together princess or lose your customers. Instead of investing in an unreliable and irritating app, invest where it counts- in good service! Give your staff the skills and support to succeed and enjoy their jobs, so in turn your customers will have a great cruise experience and will want to return!

Mom try’s to take kids on a great vacation I have waited for years to be able to…

I have waited for years to be able to take my kids on a family vacation and spent 5600 dollars to take them on a cruise thinking it would be around the clock fun and excitement..was I wrong . First of all it took 5.5 hours to talk to anyone who could answer questions before the cruise, my children and I live in different states and have to coordinate our time travel and time off, my daughter came down with Covid in December our cruise was the end of January so she called and asked what was needed if we should cancel or what happens with a positive test, she was told as long as she tested positive more than 14 days prior to the cruise and had a doctors note clearing her she would be fine. So she did have a positive test more than 14 days prior to cruise, w paid to go to the doctor and get a note and we all continued with our travel plans. The day before the cruise she again contacted them (another 5 hours on the phone) to find out that no she could not go without a negative test and that they had told her wrong before she again paid to go to the doctor and luckily tested negative so we got to go on the cruise. I am 56 my daughter is 26 and my son is 30 we were the youngest people on this cruise. There were no shows, no comedians, nothing for anyone under the age of 70. They had violinist, steel drum and classical music playing. They played movies on the main deck by the pool silly pretend games shows with cheap prizes at night, shuffle board, pickle ball, and 3 hole miniature golf, nothing upbeat or fun. The staff on board were great but even they wondered why we were on this cruise. No one told us this was an old person cruise that catered to the elderly even the staff was older. I will never sail princess cruises again. They had no customer service, no fun activities and the food was ok but not what I had expected. Like I said this was our first family vacation and I paid for all the extras so it would be amazing and it was very disappointing and they need to put demographic information on their info. Impossible Communication

I need to talk to Princess about a cruise booking. They are impossible to communicate with. Nobody answers their Customer Service Numbers. I have given up !! After many cruises with Princess I will now find another line not owned by CARNIVAL CRUISES.

Right now I am on hold waiting to speak to a princess rep....so far 38 mins and the same CRAPPY noise they call music over and over again. We waited for our credits and only one of us got it. I am getting sick and tired of princess cruises "lack of customer service." We have sailed 451 days with them. Our elite benefits are fine but we are ready to change cruise lines. Seriously people, Princess does NOT care.

No compassion and incompetent

I've been waiting on a refund for nearly 2 months after the death of my husband, they now tell me they refunded the money to a credit card in his name which was closed after he died, they'd been told this. Terrible customer service.
