Untrustworthy

Firstly, Princess Cruises turned out to be quite unreliable. We had six shore excursions planned, but the most important one — viewing the glaciers and icebergs — was canceled without adequate explanation. Another excursion, originally meant to take us to the city of Victoria, was substituted with a visit to a much smaller, unremarkable location, the name of which we don’t even remember. For these cancellations and itinerary changes, we were given just $200 USD per person as compensation — and even that had to be spent onboard. This felt insufficient and disappointing. Secondly, getting access to drinking water onboard was surprisingly inconvenient. Guest cabins were located between decks 6 and 14 (we stayed on deck 8), but the only place with self-serve drinking water was on deck 15. Each time we needed water, we had to carry our own thermos all the way up, and elevator wait times could be long. Alternatively, bottled water (800ml) was available at the bar for over $3 USD each, but the bar staff were not always honest. On three occasions when two bottles were purchased, the family was twice charged for three. Refunds were only issued after complaints were made at the front desk.

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. This is the 8th cruise we’ve been on (including others from the same group - Royal Caribbean & Celebrity). The ship (Sun Princess) is nice, but unless you are a meat eating American who likes X-factor style singers it isn’t for you. The breakfast consists of around 20 stations, 17 of which seem to serve variations of exactly the same thing (bacon, sausage, beans, egg - and pretty much in the same format - e.g. there are no poached eggs or eggs Florentine.). The buffet for dinner and tea is also poor. Same every day, and not great quality. It's also very bland. There are a couple of token Indian dishes, and even those are bland too. The entertainment is naff singers for the main part. We had 2 dreadful comedians. The only bright spot was the magician (Mike Bones) who was great. You have to pay for shuttles, the sunbeds get nabbed and left reserved all day without Princess doing anything about it, and even the kids sports area has basketballs but no football! It’s like non-Americans and non-meat eaters are second class citizens. Even the sandwich bar often only has a choice of meat sandwiches half of the time. On top of that they force you to carry a tracker, and they state on their app that they are capturing your facial recognition data (no idea why, but it surely is unnecessary and seems a breach of privacy). I asked for a normal card rather than the tracker pendant (which is magnetic and emits EMF) but they said I couldn’t have a card. I was looking forward to better entertainment and much better food, but left disappointed. This is the worse cruise we’ve been on for food, sport, entertainment and privacy. I’m posting the review here, rather than at the end of the cruise, as if my experience with Celebrity is anything to go by, they tend not to bother listening to genuine feedback.

We booked the Princess Premier Package…

We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise

Princess - Worse than a bait and switch...

Booked the Princess cruise aboard the Grand Princess back in September of last year in the hopes that they would have softened their COVID mask restrictions. In June when we needed to make a decision on whether to cancel the reservation they had done away with the mask restrictions with only requiring them in certain situations. We went ahead with the booking. Boarded the ship on 8/3/22 only to have the captain announce over the PA system that masks would be required whenever indoors. If we would have known this we would have cancelled our reservation back in June. This is totally unacceptable. If they want to cruise with a required mask mandate that's fine but they need to communicate this in advance. Why in the hell would I want to spend a week on Alaskan cruise wearing a mask? I will never ever book another cruise with Princess and will tell everyone I know not to either. This is worse than a bait and switch. At least with that you can walk away from the deal.

Princess Discovery 7 day Alaska Cruise

Returned from an Alaska cruise on the Discovery Princess 3 days ago. We have been on over 25 cruises prior to the pandemic and I am tech savvy. The crew on board did great by us. Their Medallion app is the reason we will never cruise with Princess again and the fact the ship was severely overcrowded. They brag about this app but everyone hates it, the staff and passengers. You have to make reservations for all your dinners on the app. Make them at least 2-3 weeks prior to departure as you won’t be able to do it on the ship for 3 days into the cruise. When you use it will bring back fond memories of dial up internet. You will never be able to view the dinner menus until 2-3 days into the trip. Book specialty restaurants weeks ahead even though you will not be able to use the credit you get with the drink packages. You get credit when you show up for your reservation. Almost all info has to be entered with this app prior to departure. What should have taken 10 minutes to do on a computer took 1.5 hours on the phone. As far as the ship it was designed to sail in the Caribbean not Alaska. Lots and lots of open deck space but when the wind is blowing 40 mph off a 45 degree ocean everyone is crammed into the buffet or the central atrium area without a vacant seat. Entertainment was good and unexpectedly bad. All the performers on the ship are exceptionally talented. The productions show “Spotlight bar” was one depressing song after another, most of which I had never heard prior. Who ever came up with songs for the singers needs to get counselling and prescription for antidepressants. The other show “Rock Opera” was OK; at least I had heard half of the songs but again depressing songs. All other performers in the Theater were outstanding but the production shows were for the first time ever not the stand outs for entertainment no matter how great the singer and dancers were. Theater on this ship is Stadium Theater seating 1500 people sitting elbow to elbow in enclosed space with only a handful of people wearing masks. Everyday about 95-97% of passengers did not wear masks ever. My wife and I wore N95 masks whenever we were inside the ship, dined by ourselves early in the evening and left when the dining room started to fill up wore masks to all the shows. And my wife woke up with Covid on the day we got off the ship. We are vaxed and double boosted the last 2.5 month prior to sailing. I practiced dentistry for 40 years and know masks, how to wear them, and how to stay health on a cruise as we have never gotten sick on a ship. Not even the Holland America we got caught on and extra 12 days at the start of the pandemic. Unfortunately unless the cruise lines decrease the number of people on the ship and allow people to spread out you are going to get sick if you cruise. The reason being is you have to get tested within 72 hours of sailing which gives you 2 dinners you could go out with friends and contract Covid then bring it on the ship which is what happen here. Just because they are tested doesn’t mean they are not going to be in 24-48 hours

Have I made a mistake?

Really not sure that I have made a wise choice after reading these terrible reviews. It also worries me when companies do not respond to praise/criticism from the paying guests. i.e. I am so pleased... I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed etc. It smacks of we don't care about the customer but we do care about our shareholders and a big healthy profit. I am due to sail from Southampton in September and after booking a balcony decided to try and change to a deluxe balcony given the reduction in cost. It is now some £400 less than when I paid a year ago. Via my travel agent Cruise. Co UK I am told that I could upgrade but would have to pay the original price they advertised a year ago !!! Unbelievable and I can well see why only 1.7 rating on trustpilot. More than willing to report back if my cruise goes well on a more positive note but I have no expectations.

The high service level has definitely gone with staff shortages. An app that doesn't work. Long waiting times for drinks. And chaos where room numbers given for drinks that might not have been paid for. Underage drinking onboard. Really dissatisfied with the dinner service with wrong meals arriving. Not a 5 star service that I paid for.

Sky Princess beautiful, strongly recommend

Sailed on Sky Princess with 3660 passengers and totally packed. Salied to France, Spain and Guernsey. Cabins great and Steward Francisco totally amazing with so many tips regarding the shows. Buffet on 16th floor busy but still ok.with fast service on drinks. Went for sit down meal at Estrella Restaurant with amazing manager Darko and staff, Phoebe, Rocky and many others. Pools too busy but expected. Strongly recommended. Going on a 2nd cruise to norway and Denmark in two week's time and same ship Sky Princess.

Get me off this ship ASAP!!

This has been the worst holiday of my life. Get me off this ship asap! From when we checked in where there was a problem with the app and letting me get on the ship, took me 30 minutes even though I had my covid jabs and test certificate. They said it was an issue with there system. Once I finally got on board all the charges were sent to my partner through the app, even though my bank card was linked to the account (a system error apparently). On sky princess visiting northern France, Spain and Guernsey I thought it would be a nice trip away. Everything I have experienced and it is now going into the last day, is terrible. Been charged service charges even though I am all inclusive with full drinks package (said again it's a system issue), the app not working properly and the internet is the slowest ever! 3600 people on board and the internet simply can't cope with the demand in my opinion. Service has also been poor at times. Been to customer services 6 times for various issues. I thought a holiday was meant to be relaxing, this is nothing but stress due to Princesses system issues. I am honestly fed up. Then there is the issue of facilities for such a large amount of people, can never get a seat in any bar to watch any live band, it's like they have increased the number of cabins, and forgot to increase the facilities and venue capacities. Only plus sides are room cleaner is excellent and the food is incredible. Apart from that, stay away or stick to smaller ships.

Just returned from Norway cruise on…

Just returned from Norway cruise on Enchantment Princess 15th July to see Michael Ball booked through Imagine Cruising..I took my sister who has walking difficulties I cannot praise the customer service staff enough for their assistance...entertainment was Amazing Colin the pianist in Crooners bar was a brilliant showman creating Fab atmosphere...AJ Brown was very good 👍 and of course the Fantastic Michael Ball loved it 😀 Could not fault the food souch choice and great quality....sadly I do have to advise a few negatives as the Bar staff were really struggling with the new medallion system so had to query my stateroom bill a few times over the week as we had overcharges ...this was amended straight away but it got to the point you could not trust the system and had to check daily also they seemed understaffed and the ship was only half full so that is a big concern for future 🤔..I did have to report one of the bar staff who was very rude to us and was assured this would be addressed but not reported back to me ...they seemed very stressed 😕 not the normal happy go lucky attitude I am used to on Celebrity cruises ...The Medallion App was hit and miss so feel that needs to be addressed I have booked another cruise on this ship to the Carribean so hope 🙏 these negatives will be addressed ...Sadly we have now got Covid but that's the risk you take !

I am about to go on a cruise on the regal princess. They have, without consultation, changed my flights from 2pm to 6am. I have rang up 3 times. the first time the person said, oh let me just check with somebody, then the line went dead. I then rang up another two times, the first time waiting 50 mins and the second 45 mins. Each time, when I got through the line went dead. I feel powerless.

Worst guest relations of any cruiseline

Have a cruise booked with Princess in under 2 weeks. Their customer service is a complete waste of time and you cannot get through on the phone for days at a time, they do not call you back when they say, ignore all emails and messages. Poor impression for first time with this cruiseline. Stick with RCI, NCL or Celebrity as they actually speak to you after you have handed over your money!
