Untrustworthy

Firstly, Princess Cruises turned out to be quite unreliable. We had six shore excursions planned, but the most important one — viewing the glaciers and icebergs — was canceled without adequate explanation. Another excursion, originally meant to take us to the city of Victoria, was substituted with a visit to a much smaller, unremarkable location, the name of which we don’t even remember. For these cancellations and itinerary changes, we were given just $200 USD per person as compensation — and even that had to be spent onboard. This felt insufficient and disappointing. Secondly, getting access to drinking water onboard was surprisingly inconvenient. Guest cabins were located between decks 6 and 14 (we stayed on deck 8), but the only place with self-serve drinking water was on deck 15. Each time we needed water, we had to carry our own thermos all the way up, and elevator wait times could be long. Alternatively, bottled water (800ml) was available at the bar for over $3 USD each, but the bar staff were not always honest. On three occasions when two bottles were purchased, the family was twice charged for three. Refunds were only issued after complaints were made at the front desk.

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. This is the 8th cruise we’ve been on (including others from the same group - Royal Caribbean & Celebrity). The ship (Sun Princess) is nice, but unless you are a meat eating American who likes X-factor style singers it isn’t for you. The breakfast consists of around 20 stations, 17 of which seem to serve variations of exactly the same thing (bacon, sausage, beans, egg - and pretty much in the same format - e.g. there are no poached eggs or eggs Florentine.). The buffet for dinner and tea is also poor. Same every day, and not great quality. It's also very bland. There are a couple of token Indian dishes, and even those are bland too. The entertainment is naff singers for the main part. We had 2 dreadful comedians. The only bright spot was the magician (Mike Bones) who was great. You have to pay for shuttles, the sunbeds get nabbed and left reserved all day without Princess doing anything about it, and even the kids sports area has basketballs but no football! It’s like non-Americans and non-meat eaters are second class citizens. Even the sandwich bar often only has a choice of meat sandwiches half of the time. On top of that they force you to carry a tracker, and they state on their app that they are capturing your facial recognition data (no idea why, but it surely is unnecessary and seems a breach of privacy). I asked for a normal card rather than the tracker pendant (which is magnetic and emits EMF) but they said I couldn’t have a card. I was looking forward to better entertainment and much better food, but left disappointed. This is the worse cruise we’ve been on for food, sport, entertainment and privacy. I’m posting the review here, rather than at the end of the cruise, as if my experience with Celebrity is anything to go by, they tend not to bother listening to genuine feedback.

We booked the Princess Premier Package…

We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise

The Northern Lights Pricess Island…

The Northern Lights Pricess Island Cruise was fine BUT this review is for the "See the Norther Lights" excusion i think in £'s about 150ish pp...Complete shambles dont go, save your money and book a cab to find them. We arrived by coach with a chatty driver at about 7pm all dark and exciting only to walk about 100 metres to what i can only discribe as a 100 metre square plot behind a storage facillity. A few smokey firepits a large Tpee with benches, a round hut with a fire pit inside, a huge brightly lit marquee with a bright vid screen showing a pic of the Northern Lights and loud music playing, packed with bored people looking at their phones. Outside was a dangerous dark environment with the odd wall light glare making safe walking very difficult waiting for someone to trip over a hidden lump in the ground an icey path which should have had a danger of broken hip warning. I understand the cloud cover cannot be controlled and thats unfortunate so " No Nothern Lights " anyway. We just stumbled around for 3 and a half hours completly unaided watching kids ( staff ) trying to stay warm. One Male one Female toilet ( dont ask ).. we got an early coach with speechless driver back. Dont like rip off or money maker...but there you go...

I had a booking on princess

I had a booking on princess, they offered a lower rate with a cabin credit. I changed my reservation and asked about it before I made my final payment and they said the agent made a mistake. Sucks to be you.

We sailed on the Sky to Norway last…

We sailed on the Sky to Norway last year and unfortunately and stupidly we bought artwork we believed and told that the art was sort after and would be easy to sell at a good price. So so wrong, we were dupped, our own fault I know, what's done is done. Why I have tried in vain to contact guest relations, even emailed the C.E.O was a query of a large amount of money taken on 3 consecutive days for the exact same amount down to the last penny. All I would like is someone to look into this for me and actually reply to one of my my 8 emails, first one sent on 25/09/23. We will never sail with Princess again, our first cruise with them was 26 years ago and are elite, not that elite means a thing now. Princess have gone down to a 3 star cruise line in my eyes, not interested in customers just money. Such a shame we have had some lovely cruises with them in the past.

Lovely ship and 2nd time on it

Lovely ship and 2nd time being on it. Unfortunately the food was cold and the entertainment wasn't as good as last year. The worst part is that for the 2nd time they have taken the on board money I spent twice. The payment went out on the Monday after I got home and then they applied to take it again on the Tuesday leaving me overdrawn. This will now be pending for 10 days until my bank release it back into my account and nothing can be done about it. I don't understand how something like this can happen. So make sure you have enough money in your bank to cover it incase the same happens to you. Thank you Sky cruises for spoiling the end of my holiday

Pathetic Company!!!

Pathetic Company!!!! They promised us a future cruise credit and when we tried to book with them they denied it. We tried on MULTIPLE occasions to do so. Now we are out of $3500 because of their lack of customer service or any care to help. Disgusting to treat a new customer (or any) that way! We would have loved to gone on one of their cruises but never again!

Terrible excursion organization

Terrible excursion organization. One bus driver (Ireland) even got lost (which used up some of our excursion time) and did not know how to turn on or manage the air conditioning- he stated that it was a new bus & he hadn't learned that yet. Most often late getting away because of guides/crew late for work, bus late getting to terminal, or disrespectful late passengers. So much of our excursions were cut short for these reasons - and we payed for all their disrespect. Suggestion - become more stringent with staff & passenger expectations or give us refunds! I.E. Leave on time! Late passengers should also have been previously well warned & perhaps they'll get up a little earlier! Inept Princess staff caused us to not get a front seat in the bus for picture taking. We had been the first people in line (6:30a.m.)- even before the theatre staff were there! Then when going through security, the employee held up our line because he did not have his passport ready. This was followed by being pushed aside by 4 rude passengers while trying to get on the bus. NEVER AGAIN. Ruined the trip to Paris - so angry & disgusted. Many waiters & staff in Horizon buffet area had very wrinkled baggy uniforms with their pants hanging down half off their hips - not a clean professional look! Scrambled eggs always half-cooked/raw. Food in Horizon only luke warm - no microwave to heat anything. Fruit juices in a.m. not chilled.

SKY PRINCESS

Sorry to have to do this 9 years ago would 5 stars now 2, 1 1/2 hours waiting in the car to have my car concierge parked as you’ve now decided to let everybody on the ship at the same time, extremely poor, bearing in mind you have 3500 customers to board staggered boarding always works , over 30 mins to get a drink on a bar in the evening, to use the huge amount of queues, nowhere to sit and enjoy your drink as all open seating areas are completely rammed packed. Amazingly large queues to get shuttle buses back from the destination to the ship, which I also encountered various people getting taxis to avoid missing the boat. On smart casual nights, you decide to let customers enter the main dining rooms extremely poorly dressed to the degree of wearing shorts and flip-flops when they should be wearing a shirt trousers, and perhaps a jacket with no challenge. This type of dress sense is more suited to other cruise lines having stated the attire, smart casual with no challenge from the supervisors. The mini suite I had had an immense amount of creaking and clunking, which I’ve never encountered all my years with various cruise lines, despite my complaints nothing was done about it, this entailed in several nights of extremely poor sleep which I would not expect from any cruise line. I do appreciate in a rough seas you do get some noise. This is more a mechanical issue due to the creaking and knocking in my mini suite I have to say on the upside, the sky princess had extremely good members of staff, despite the lack and also an extremely good selection of food in the Lido food bar and the ship is extremely elegant. I do think you need to employ more staff to customer ratio and also more seating areas of people to sit in the evening to cope with extreme demand or cut back on the number of passengers on the ship.. please bear in mind I have sold on the Grand princess, Sea princess, and Emerald Princess, more than once, and I have never experienced in my life. I really think you need to address these issues before it starts affecting your business. Again the staff were amazing let down by poor management and planning so unfortunately it’s back to Cunard for me as I have never ever had an issue and do not expect to.

Poor Cruise on the Regal Princess

Poor Cruise on the Regal Princess. Over reliant use of technology with no personal touch. Stateroom smaller than usual. The evening meals were average to poor with a number of meals returned for various reasons including undercooked and containing allergens. They have no way of knowing anyones allergies because you have a different table and staff each night. Entertainment was hit and miss. Not sure if there should be safety concerns but you are supposed to watch the TV screen to indicate what to do in an emergency but although they can monitor that guests have tuned in they cannot know that the guests have watched it. Staff were excellent and tried their best but management poor.

We sent our son and daughter in law on…

We sent our son and daughter in law on this cruise for their honeymoon which left on Sept 5. Unfortunately, there was a medical emergency on their level which required an air vac. Due to this unforeseen emergency they and many others had to be woken up and had to evacuate their room at approximately 2 am and had to go to the muster station until 4 am. This was so traumatizing for the both of them as my daughter in law was so upset as this ruined their next day as they were so tired due to lack of sleep. Now, we all know that this was not Princess Cruise Lines fault as a safety procedure had to be followed, however, I truly believe that it would be a first class customer service gesture to give them something for the inconvenience they experienced. As my wife and I have been Platinum members and have always enjoyed travelling on Princess Cruises in the past, now I'm questioning this company business ethics. A Junior Manager on the ship was just cutting me off from speaking and saying that they owe them nothing as it was a safety protocol! (No kidding Captain Obvious!) Three higher up executives (Jan Swartz-VP, John Padgett-CEO and Collin Steinke-Dir PR) were also advised of this and not one of them had responded at the time of writing this article. This goes to show if the proper leadership is not shown or coached from the top executives, this filters down to the Junior management and in turn affects the paying customer.(see all the 1* ratings) This company has now lost not only my business but my family members business in the future. So Sad!!

Started a 18 day trip with a room that was too hot to sleep in. We kept asking for help with the air conditioning. They kept saying it was fixed. Finally, day 5 we got a supervisor to come to the room. She told us it was hot and nothing had been fixed. At the midway point of the trip, they found us another room. Only this time the bathroom toilet flushed sporadically. What a horrible experience. We asked for some of our money back, but they didn't budge from a credit. Why would I ever take another Princess cruise if my experience is like this one. So, what good is a credit. If I get a bad meal in a restaurant, then I don't pay. But not this cruise line. Everything else was excellent on the cruise. We just couldn't sleep or use the toilet facilities. Awful.
