Fantastic experience for conveyancing and mortgage advise.
We used Ocean for conveyancing and mortgage advise. Conveyancing: Really excellent service throughout by Linda and her team. Everything sorted as quickly as possible and dealt really well with the sellers solicitors who were causing headaches. Howla website kept us up to date, as did emails and phone calls. Never had to chase once. Really impressed. Mortgage Advise: Again excellent service, this time by Luigi. Friendly and happy to chat through all the details with you. Found us a great deal, and regularly checked for rate changes to save us money. All around excellent.

We've just sold our first house through Ocean -Southville. We found their professionalism, responsiveness and support really helpful through what was a new experience for us. Many thanks to Tom, Jenny and Maddie for making the process as smooth as possible.

Chain or No chain - confused.com - Disappointed with Overall Service
We had an eight-month journey that was more stressful than it needed to be. Initially, the property on Rightmove was advertised as "no chain," but it turned out that there was indeed a chain. This discrepancy culminated in a chain collapse near the end of the process due to the unfortunate death of a "no chain" participant—a twist that extended the process by an additional two months and cost us an extra £2,500 in stamp duty. Throughout the ordeal, purchase management and communication were major issues. Replies had to be chased for weeks, and updates were infrequent, averaging only once per week due to part-time working arrangements. It felt as though the agency was more intent on finding excuses rather than taking responsibility for the escalating delays and unexpected costs. That said, the silver lining of this experience was Sam, the branch manager. Sam went above and beyond—always friendly, proactive, and ready to help amidst the confusion. While we appreciate Sam’s dedication and support, the overall lack of transparency and effective communication from the agency has left us deeply disappointed.

We paid for a full management service…
We paid for a full management service while we let our property out. Somehow, Ocean didn’t manage to spot the two people our tenants were illegally subletting our property to, and the damage they caused. Also administratively, Ocean was below par. Despite having 6 months notice of the end of the tenancy, they failed to flag that their office would be closed and then when I queried it they suggested that I wait 4 days to receive my keys and move back into my home (when I had already made moving arrangements). All in all, I wouldn’t use ocean again and would instead opt for a smaller company or even a sole trader, who could dedicate the appropriate time and effort into managing my property.

Very disappointed with the lack of…
Very disappointed with the lack of Service and communication from Ocean Laywers Portishead. I spoke to one of their lawyers on phone about some conveyancing for my mum's property as she is in a care home. I was requested to get a signed letter from her requesting a quote. This was dropped in person to office by another family member. 2 weeks later and no letter or even communication. Family member went back into office again and the lawyer was't available, but when he called back later, he couldn't even remember what it was about and ask for a reminder?? He then promised to follow up in next day or so with quote but 1 week later and we still haven't had a quote or even any call to give us an update. You employee lawyers to manage property transactions because they are supposed to be professional, diligent and organised...unfortunately we didn't see any of this in our dealings with Ocean in Portishead.
