Location de voiture à Auckland. Check-in prévu à 17 h : il n'y a personne au bureau avant 17h05, et le numéro de téléphone n'est plus disponible après 17h... Niveau de service médiocre. Check-out : il n'y a personne au moment du check-out. L'entreprise envoie quelques jours plus tard des photos avant/après pour démontrer qu'il y a une éraflure sur la portière... (similaire à la dizaine d'éraflures déjà existantes lors du check-in). Rien ne prouve notre responsabilité, mais aucune discussion possible : prélèvement de 350 € pour pyer la réparation ! Ce n'est plus un service déficient, c'est du vol

I used mode rental Christchurch.I could feel they do their best to help customers. My wife made a mistake on paper and they helped us solve the problem. Thanks again. And cars is also nice and brand. I enjoyed my trip:)

Avoid at all cost

Mode Car in Queenstown. Upon phoning twice to clarify pick up area and description of shuttle bus to locate it, I was yelled at (yelled “it’s M-O-D-E” ) and then hung up on me. I am partially deaf, and naturally there was a lot of noise around me at the time of phoning from the airport, and the person had a difficult to understand accent on the phone. Having never been to QT and struggling to understand the poorly written pick up instructions, I would think phoning to clarify and advise ready for collection was a suitable thing to do. When the driver arrived to pick up, and when seated in the shuttle, I apologised for the phone calls, as I assumed asking twice pissed him off given yelling and hanging up on me. He didn’t respond to my apology and when we arrived at Mode office, he simply got out of the van and mumbled something about someone else coming and he disappeared inside. Then the other person said something about going upstairs, unclear what was happening at this point. Obviously it turned out to be the office. Still no one explained what was happening. The person who drove the shuttle was helping another person, when finished to return to help the new person with us. There was a $3k holding deposit that was not explained clearly at all, and then they offered to hold less, so I said sure do less. Then attempted to bill me for choosing less. Attempted to clarify again, which appeared to mean that people who can’t afford for $3 to be held from their bank account are penalised by means of charging them extra out of pocket. I refused to pay more, so for 10-days (8-day rent period) my family was unable to access this money. The car had a tiny amount of water for the windscreen wipers, evident by the blue warning light being on the dash at the time of pick up. This is unacceptable given frost conditions in the mornings and evenings. The car itself was dirty externally and had several scratches and small dents. I took a careful video of the entire vehicle to avoid getting blamed for anything. Fortunately I didn’t have to prove it when I returned the vehicle; but the service made the whole experience appear dubious and disingenuous. I would never recommend or hire from Mode Queenstown company ever again.

I rented a car there in may this year

I rented a car there in may this year. The car I gave was a 2016 car. The condition of the car was very poor. There were many damages to the body and the mirror. On the day I picked up the car, I asked to change it. The staff at the car dealership refused to accept it. 500 New Zealand dollars was directly deducted from the credit card, saying that the lens was damaged, and the photos and whapp we sent them were not read, so this car rental company is strongly not recommended.

Mode Rentals ........ No Reply

Mode Rentals - wrote and asked me to write a review for them. That was 6 weeks ago. Here is what I wrote to them directly - and got absolutely no reply. 1. On collection, and handover, the car appeared ok. I was specifically told no rubbish on return, or I will be charged a cleaning fee. Unusual. That said the car was sadly not clean to a drivable standard. All of the glass internally was coated, either in nicotine, or vape residue, and it took me some time, and the purchase of specialised products to clean it, and make it safe to drive. The scum I removed from the Windows was black. It stank. I suggested that if there is a cleaning policy of charging for cleaning, then have it apply to all aspects of the hire. Dirty windows create poor visibility and are dangerous. They also create the wrong impression as a quality car rental provider. This is an easy fix to check and resolve. 2. The car I hired has 4 different types of tyre fitted, some cheap and full of plastic, some with more. All were worn differently, and were of varying quality. Given the state of NZ roads, and the variation in weather (there was an extreme weather event when I was there) this made the car quite unsafe to drive. 3. From memory, I think the car was overdue a service, oil change stickers were out of date / mileage, so this didn't give me great confidence in the vehicle was being maintained to a good standard On the positive side.......... I have to say, the car performed well. It was after all, a reliable little Toyota. However all of the factors listed here, didn't give me confidence that the vehicle was being well inspected, maintained, or looked after . These are simple things to resolve, and would create a better lasting impression of Mode Rentals. If asked, I would say it was an ok experience. the car did what it needed too, however, the hire experience was let down by the low standard of maintenance causing confidence and safety concerns. As I said - no reply recieved to my feedback - so Ive done what they asked - and just posted my review.

We had a great experience with Mode…

We had a great experience with Mode Rentals in Christchurch. The pickup and check-in was effortless and friendly. The car was great for what we needed and reliable. And the drop off was so efficient and easy. We were in and off to the airport with no issues and lots of friendly service. I will definitely book with them on my next trip to NZ.

First Class Experience

Booked a Toyota Rav 4 from UK using Holiday Autos website - Mode were the cheapest on offer. The car was ready at the arranged time, the handover was very efficient and we were lent a phone holder when ours proved to be unsuitable. I received a vast number of photos within minutes of picking up the car that recorded all the existing damage to the car. Drop off was as simple as handing over the keys and I received an email within 24 hours confirming that there were no additional charges. All around, a first class experience - I would happily recommend!

Never again...

Late email to tell me that i could not pick-up the vehicle as expected because the bond had been declined. The office was closed and I was with my 3 kids and my wife at the airport, with no solution. We took a taxi ($$$) to our hotel, then I went to Mode rentals the day after to pick-up the vehicle... Poor service at the desk, no excuses, no Booster seat in the car at first... But invoice overloaded with "after-hours fee" (????) So disappointed. I will never go with Mode rentals again...

NEVER GO TO MODE RENTALS WELLINGTON FOR…

NEVER GO TO MODE RENTALS WELLINGTON FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY !!! We came across an employee who must not have been in a normal state, we had to pick up some glasses lost in a rented car a week before. We had made an agreement with mode rentals Auckland (very nice by the way) As soon as we arrived the lady was verbally abusive, telling us it was not « her fu***ng problem », that we should leave before she would « f***us up ». We just wanted to get glasses! Finally it was still in the car… Wonderful! Then, she got more mad to see that she was wrong, she started to insult us, told us to leave immediately, flipped us off, filmed us as we left !!! I'm shocked, we are two French people, we stayed calm till we left... If it would have been someone more aggressive, there could have been big problems... Another Mode employee came by as we were leaving and while the lady was flipping us off and insulting us. But we're not going to leave it at that, filming people against their will is punishable by law, we're going to report it to the police.

Understaffed and chaotic

Understaffed, not communicative. We called for the shuttle 6 times before someone answered. As it turned out, there was only one person working at Mode despite it being the middle of the high season in Queenstown. The shuttle driver - a young man who was incredibly kind and helpful - also turned out to be the person who did the rental agreement, inspected the car, took pictures of the car...because he was the only one working. I tried to extend my rental by calling Mode. After being put on hold for 3 minutes I was told they couldn't extend my rental, then told they would "check with management" and call me back. Never called me back. When I returned the car, the office was in utter chaos. Skip these guys and rent from a more reputable service.

Beware

Beware ! 1. problem waited 45 min on a wet, windy day for a promised prompt pick up. 2. Paid tolls both ways to/from Northland. Mode later charged me $29 for one no toll payment and admin costs; Three times I sent copies of the payment receipts and requested copies of the Toll NZ bill but no replies. They know I live in Australia. Not happy....

Mode car rentals NZ fraud my credit card

Mode car rentals NZ fraud my credit card. They abuse credit card details and stole over 5.000 NZD from me. Mode car rentals NZ also never provide me with copy of rental agreement, so they can cover their thefts. They never respond to any of my emails, after that Mode car rentals NZ roberry.

Awful experience

Awful experience The worst experience ever with a hire car. The car was not clean The car rattled the whole time and felt dangerous. The agent told me afterwards when I returned ‘yeah we have been meaning to fix that’ Pathetic customer service But most annoyingly you allow me to book through economy rentals via Amex and then don’t take Alex but yet don’t advise anyone of that. I want a refund for this awful terrible experience

Charged us $40 for an out of hours drop…

Charged us $40 for an out of hours drop off, even though we returned the car at 9.05am. The car also did not have a full tank of petrol when we picked it up, even though we had to return it with a full tank. Not happy at all.

Great experience

Honesty, we were a little iffy given that these guys were soooo cheap compared to others, but I have to say we were blown away by their service. From the speed in which we were collected from Auckland Airport, to the car quality, flexibility with drop off times, and overall willingness to help. We have no hesitation in recommending them to our friends and family. They made our holiday memorable in all the right ways and we'd definitely use them again.

Great service and experience

Second time this year using Mode in Christchurch. All went very smoothly from pick up to return. Went above and beyond by driving us to the airport in our returned car as the little one was still asleep in his carseat. Would definitely use again for sure.
