Worst car rental company I have ever dealt with. Waited over an hour for shuttle pickup from airport. Was not covered by full insurance like we thought, and was charged $300 for a stone chip on the windscreen when returning the vehicle. Was also charged $27.40 for a $2.40 toll we had already paid. Company refused to refund, despite evidence being provided showing the toll had already been paid. Initial price looks attractive, but after they rip you off with all their other charges, it becomes an expensive exercise, and they will not respond to correspondence. Steer clear of these cowboys!

AWESOME company, prompt, flexible and customer centred service. I got a damaged windscreen and they far exceeded any expectations in dealing with it. Despite my rental car coming from Wellington, Auckland office got me a GREAT substitute car immediately, took care of the repair, re issued an agreement, and were incredibly kind and attentive to every need. Their rates are extremely cost effective. I was AMAZED and delighted. Highly highly recommend, thanks MODE!!!

pretty good really. clean and new vehicle. would do again. had our bond refunded the next day which was good. dont crash the car, not hard.

Do your research before using this company. Note how many reviews mention hidden costs, surprise charges and untrustworthy employees and documentation. Viewing the Auckland office public bathroom will also tell you all you need to know about this place and their approach to customer service.

We hired a car for 10 days from Christchurch airport depot. Mode's shuttle picked us up promptly, 5 minutes to depot, and an immaculate car was ready for us. Their service could not be faulted, friendly and helpful. Value for money could not be beaten unless you wanted a car 10 years old or more. Would recommend Mode 100%.

This company is a scam, I tried to have a good holiday with a peace of mine and opted for full insurance coverage but I got charged further 552 NZD for repair cost that supposedly be handled by insurance. DO not go with this company because if you do even with insurance it will cause further extra $. When you paid full insurance coverage you should not be paying if something unforeseen happened but this company totally scam people check the Google reviews they and Facebook they scammed people and said the car is dented. I paid 552 NZD for that matter. If you don’t want to do honest business don’t go into scamming people. Yes I did accidents try to close the back door and probably cause a small dent and is not cost 552$ and should be covered by insurance. Don’t go with this rental at all you have been warned. I wonder what if someone hit the car and run away or any other u foreseen things happened with you not knowing what should you do? If you still decide that you want to go with this company don’t buy insurance is useless since you will be facing extra charges for other thing that you did not know about.
