Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

I used iDrive for a year..

I used iDrive for a year... I cancelled auto renew and checked it was definitely not going to renew. iDrive renewed it, due to clicking on some of their spam (I didn't click anything to purchase!) – to make matters worse they have drawn out the refund process – making it seem like their fraudulent cunning ways were some how my fault and their refund an act of kindness and goodwill! See you iDrive – will NEVER use their services again.

This is for unimportant data only

This is for unimportant data only. In this capacity it's OK. But if you have something important to back up, please don't rely on iDrive. This isn't the software to trust, and your data isn't safe if that's your only backup option. I'll keep this year's subscription but won't renew.

absolute caution with iDrive. Your data is definitely not safe there!!!

I had a subscription there for my data backup. Apparently, the subscription amount could not be debited once for some reason. whereupon the subscription was immediately canceled and all data was deleted without reference to data deletion. I didn't even have the chance to back up my data. now almost two terabytes of data have been lost. absolutely outrageous and not worth a dollar

Do not trust them with your data!

Do not trust them with your data! I am beyond frustrated with this company, and I would not recommend them to anyone. I am even considering taking legal action at this point. It’s unbelievable that a company like this is still operating today. Do NOT trust them with your data! They will lose it and completely ignore you. Their support team takes months to respond, and you will have no access to your data. In fact, I believe they have lost my data. Seven terabytes of data. I had subscribed to their Cloud-to-Cloud backup service for my Google account, paying a monthly fee. I had seven terabytes of data backed up from Google. I paid without issue every month. But since July of this year, I’ve been trying to download my data. When the download reaches 2-3 terabytes, the transfer stops. It’s so slow that it takes 5-6 days to even get that far, and then it cuts off. I contacted support because I saw online that many others were facing the same issue, and they said they could help speed up the process. I reached out, and they claimed they couldn’t locate my account and that they had no customer with my email—even though everything was correct. Time passed—July, August—and then in September, they tried to charge me $2 for the account’s seat fee. My card failed at that moment, and instead of doing what any normal company would do—send me an email and say, “Hey, there was a payment issue, let’s try again”—they immediately cancelled my account. Since then, I’ve had no access to my data. I reopened a ticket, which has been completely ignored. I’ve contacted their online chat support multiple times, and they’ve promised to escalate the issue internally, but I’ve heard nothing back. Today, November 17th, I spoke to another support agent. I expressed all my frustration, but once again, they say they’ll escalate the issue to the management team, and that I’ll be contacted later. I am certain that they’ve lost 7 terabytes of data—data of my clients, wedding photos, and pretty much my entire career as a wedding photographer. It feels like they’ve lost everything. They’ve given me no solution and have completely ignored my tickets from July and September. I hope this review is seen by management or someone responsible. If I do not get a resolution, and if my data does not reappear, I will take legal action. I will also talk about this on every social media platform necessary. Please, do not censor this review—it is 100% real. I can provide ticket numbers if anyone wants to verify that this is not a fake review. This is the reality of what’s happening. Cannot Process Credit Cards

Would like to try the service but they are unable to process credit card payments. We tried checking with our bank and there is no issue there. Not sure what else to try.

Using IDrive for about 10 years and it's great

I have been using IDrive for about 10 years with 3 computers over that time and they are a great and dependable resource for backups and recovery. I am able to find old files easily and the simple interface is great. There are a few issues, however, for example, it's hard to change which folders are included in a backup once you've set one up using the desktop app on a Mac, but that's about it.

Not recommended

I signed up with the hope that I had found a really good hosting service but ended up canceling it after a few days with a bad feeling about the company. I was planning to use it as a study base where I could upload my videos and watch the videos online, but the limitations set by idrive made it not possible for me to do so. I uploaded one of my courses to the server and deleted it from my local hard drive. The upload went without any problem, but downloading it again turned into a nightmare as I only found a way to download it by single file transfers. Ended up deleting the course completely and lost the files. Worst hosting service I have been involved with.

Prices unilaterally increased every year

I've been a loyal customer since 2021, and I'm shocked by the recent, unjustified price hike from €6.95 (ok it was a promotion for the 1st year) to €79.50 (in 2022) to a staggering €121.39. Despite multiple attempts to contact customer service, I've received no explanation for this dramatic increase. I demand a clear explanation and immediate resolution to this issue. Otherwise, it means contracts have no value if companies can arbitrarily double or triple their service prices from one year to the next....

Hello, we have a problem with this because the file sharing is limited to only 30 days, and this isn't working well for us. Now I have to change companies and re-upload all the files again... pffffffffffffffffff.
