Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Amazing customer care from Cody and…

Amazing customer care from Cody and Craig, from the Eastbourne branch, today. My car failed its MOT du to having the wrong headlight bulbs, the garage completing the MOT could not do anything about it. Cody took the time to identify the problem, got his colleague Craig to help solve the issue. I will be returning for future issues with the car!

Disappointing Service

Purchased a Roofbox April 2025, fitted on car with no issues. 3 months later I noticed a crack in one of the sears, bearing in mind the box has been on the car the whole time. Message customer service, they say to go into store. Go into store, they tell me to go back to customer service. Go back to customer service and they tell me to go back into store again. Back into store again and they say there’s nothing they can do, I must have damaged it. I now find myself spending another £500 to replace a £400 Roofbox that’s only 3 months old with zero assistance. Shame because I’ve used Halfords for years but seems to have gone downhill recently.

Poor advice and service

I hve got to say i am extremely disappointed with the service at Halfords in Bilston. I went for a regular check on my Carrera Vengance at the end of May i was advised that the chain and cassette would require to be changed 1-2 months. Having been advised this i later returned to the store to purchase a new chain and caseette (i made this purchase having been advised of the particular items to order by an employee) i then went to a second retailer to get the work done as they had quoted £30 as opposed to Halfords £95 gold service charge. When the work was about to commence i was advised by the technician that Halfords had sold me an incorrect part and it would not fit my bike, this incurred a further cost of £25 i was also told that the work was not as immediately needed as Halfords had claimed. I returned to Bilston Halfords this afternoon to attempt to get a refund and despite relaying the issue i had i was told several times that the time of a cash refund had elapsed and was just offered a gift card. I believe this is extremely poor service as i had taken Halfords advice in good faith!!

Really poor experience

Bought a bike online and paid for it to be built. Discovered when it arrived it had not been built correctly and was broken and couldn't be ridden. I called the customer service team who said someone would call me the next morning. They did not. I called them again. They said the first person was wrong and they would call me within 72 hours. Really vague on when they would replace the bike or refund. Really, really irritating - surely if you offer a bike building service you hire competent people to build it, and if you mess it up you deal with it quickly and either refund or replace quickly not next week. I will never buy from them again, such poor customer service.

I ordered and PAID two bikes 20 days…

I ordered and PAID two bikes 20 days ago (15.06.25), with an appointment collection the following week (25.06.25), as we were away, and we gave them an extra time to built the bike, on the collection day (25.06.25), I had a phone call, saying the the bike was delay, and we should go on Friday (27.06.25) instead of Wednesday, I asked if that would be sure, as we had a bike plan away, and I needed to know if we could continue with the plan, or we should cancel, they told me everything would be OK, and they would send me an email with the collection time for Friday, I was waiting all Friday for this phone call, It didn't happened, so I went to the store to ask a member of the staff, what was going on, for my surprised, the bike stand, was closed, and we were attended by another staff member, we explain our situation, he took my tlf number to phone me straight once they located the bikes. I recall the urgency of my weekend, and his answer was: no worries, the latest will be tomorrow morning (Saturday), as we have to assemble the bikes, but you could go away. This Saturday nothing happened, I had to cancel my weekend away, I had to pay the full weekend as I didn't cancel my accommodation and the activities on time, (over £600.00) as nobody gave me an answer, I tried and tried the customer services, and still today (03.07.25) nobody has been in contact with me to give me a solution after open a complaint, and still today, I haven't got any idea about where are my bikes, but the funniest thing, is that the shop staff, haven't got any idea about what's going on.

I Went To Halfords Aberdeen…

I Went To Halfords Aberdeen Kittybrewster Store On Monday The 1st Of July 2025 With My Road Bike To See About Getting An Extension Bar To Lift My Handlebars Up The Chap I Got Said Nope Don't Have Didn't Even Check The Store Or Go Through The Back To Check Didn't Even Check On The Computer Told Me To Go On To Amazon And Fit It Myself So I Replied What Size He Said Google It I Wasn't Impressed With That. So I Proceeded And Asked Him Could You Put New Slime Tubes In Both Front And Rear Tyres As I Stay Out In The Country He Replied Yes £9 Each And £10 Each To Fit So Just Shy Of £40 Which I Was Happy With So The Chap Proceeded Took My Front Wheel Off Bike Within A Couple Mins He Struggled To Get My Tyre Off The Wheel Stood And Looked At Bike And Replied To Me I Don't Have Time For This And Told Me To Pop Back One Afternoon During The Week So I Said You Are Refusing A £40 Sale He Replied Yes I Am. When I Got Home I Decided To Phone Halfords Head Office As I Was Not Impressed With Chap In The Aberdeen Store, Head Office Apologised But I Said You Dont Need Head Office Were Great To Chat With They Even Said I Could Book An Alternative Appointment With Someone Else But I Opted To Go To A Different Shop I Will Use Halfords Again But Different Store I Think. Incase Anyone In My Area Was Taking A Bike To Halfords Aberdeen Kittybrewster Upstairs Avoid Going In The Morning I Went On The 01/07/2025 Between 10am And 10.20am

Mobile tyre fitting 👍

Had 4 new tyres fitted using the mobile fitting service. Lads turned up on time, did a good job and had all 4 changed in about 40 minutes. Only knocked a star off because I thought the £19 I paid for a 4hr slot was a bit steep but needed it for convenience. Tyres were a good price.

I took a car for full service in Harlow…

I took a car for full service in Harlow on 01/06/2025 cost me almost £600 but 1 month later (03/07/2025) the dashboard light showed “Service” it’s make me wonder they did proper Job or not? Or if they been cheating And I’m in worrying and will contact them.

Fantastic Service from Scott and Dave at Ferndown Branch. Bike gears had seized. Carried out full review of bike and assessed what needed doing best and worst case. Completed the work quickly and turned out best case. Kept me informed at all times. Two great guys that know their stuff
