Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

Thank you Conor

We are two elderly ladies, one with a disability, and were in Galway having issues with our hire car, battery and tyres. A young employee called Conor was the MOST helpful, polite and efficient. I can’t tell you how relieved we were and thankful for his kind attention. Thanks Halfords and Conor

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

🚫 Extremely Disappointed with Halfords…

🚫 Extremely Disappointed with Halfords – Poor Product & Shocking Customer Service 🚫 I bought an Apollo Phaze Blue 18, 20 mountain bike from Halfords Greenock on 15 April 2025. From day one, there was a clear fault: the chain wouldn’t shift to the smallest front chainring, and it kept dropping. Despite multiple visits to the store, staff kept telling me there was no issue. Eventually, I derailed on a hill, the chain jammed in the rear derailleur, and I had to walk the bike back to the store—again. Still, they insisted the problem didn’t exist. I booked a 25-point bike check, and even though the bike is just 10 weeks old, I was told I needed to pay for a new chain and labour! Worse still, the mechanic and store manager blamed the issue on me for buying a “cheap bike”—even though they were the ones who recommended it at the time of purchase. Very condescending and dismissive. Here’s what the Halfords website says about the Apollo Phaze: “Featuring a mix of premium components and smart design… with durability and performance at an excellent price.” That does not match what I was told in-store after the sale. I also have CycleCare Premium and a warranty, but still they expected me to pay for a fault I’d flagged from day one. I even logged a complaint back in April (Case #26014813), and nothing meaningful has come of it. This experience has been frustrating, unsafe, and frankly unacceptable. I’ve lost trust in Halfords and can’t recommend them based on this experience. We were little words

Halfords Cork, Excellent Service

I went to the Halfords in Cork today in trepidation as a middle-aged blonde lady who knows nothing about cars or bicycles (except how to drive and how to cycle). In spite of my stupid questions, I was treated with the utmost respect and patience by Thomas and Luke. Within one hour I had everything I needed, and everything fitted (super speedy guys), to the car and came away not feeling like a fool. Thank you!

Wonderful service from Halfords in…

Wonderful service from Halfords in Evesham. Had a puncture, arrived before 8AM and the manager was already there to help me. They fixed the puncture while I waited (no having to somehow get home and come back) and it only cost £30. Fantastic. Thank you

Absolutely appalling experience – avoid Halfords online

I ordered a dash cam from Halfords online and received what was very clearly a used item. The internal packaging was missing, there was no manual, and the box had already been opened. This is completely unacceptable for something sold as new. I called customer service straight away. I was told the issue would be escalated and someone would contact me. It took 10 days for that to happen – and I missed the call by minutes. I had to start the process all over again. Another 4 days later, someone finally called back and arranged a collection… which never happened. I then made three more calls chasing it up. Eventually, DHL collected the item with no warning. Three days after that, Halfords finally called again and offered a replacement. I refused - by then I’d had enough. I requested a full refund, as I no longer wanted anything to do with Halfords online. As of writing, I’m still waiting for that refund. This dragged on for over three weeks, wasted hours of my time, and included a full day lost waiting for a collection that never came. The customer service has been completely unacceptable - disorganised, slow, and nearly impossible to reach. I will never order from Halfords online again, and I strongly advise others to steer clear. A truly dreadful experience from start to finish.

12V battery for Tesla model 3

I ordered a 12V battery for Tesla model 3 online. Entered my registration, so they knew they car, and offered me a suitable battery for my Tesla. On the day of my home visit, they rang and said they can't do Tesla's, despite letting me order online for a Tesla. I asked for a manager to call, they didn't just sent a text with the cancellation. Never using Halfords again.

Really Awful Experience

Awful experience. Had my Range Rover serviced (major service). Halfords promised before and after the service the official Land Rover service records would be updated. 3 months later still not completed. Customer Service send you around in circles. Local service centre say they can't update records. Online Chat doesn't work - been trying for weeks. If you want to spend money on parts , product or service you will get connected to a person immediately. If you have an issue, try contacting someone on Mars; probably be quicker. Beware!
