I could give this rental five stars if…

I could give this rental five stars if the house was given some attention. The refrigerator in the carriage house was leaking when we checked in and the maintenance person said he would be back to fix it along with the shelf on the door. No one came back. The carriage house smelled musty. One of the stools at the kitchen counter is missing some screws so it wobbles. The wheels on the dishwasher rack are broken, so that every time you pull the rack out, it is hard to pull and forces the dishes together. One of the potholders is torn up and useless. Water stains on ceiling in downstairs bathroom. The vent over the washer and dryer is filthy. Things were not as sanitized as I expected them to be. The pictures on the website show 2 dining tables with chairs on the deck-they were not there. We had plans to eat meals out there, but we couldn't. There were 9 of us with only 8 chairs at the dining table inside, so we were unable to all sit together for meals. There were a few lounge chairs on the deck, with dirty cushions and a few other "deck chairs", however the cushions on those chairs are thin and uncomfortable. Doors to the deck do not lock and are not secure and the door knob is broken. The igniter for the grill does not work as it needs a new battery. There are nails popping out of the stairs leading to the beach. We were lucky to see them and not get cut. The balcony off the master suite was nice, but there weren't any chairs to sit on. It would have been nice to sit out there with a glass of wine to watch the sun set. Two of the beds did not have comforters on them. I called and a short time later, they were delivered. I appreciate that good service. Our 2 umbrellas and 4 chairs were set up every morning at 7 which was very nice, we made good use of them. We loved the location of the house and the layout fit our needs. We had a wonderful time with our family. With some TLC, this house would be perfect.

Great property

Second year staying in Casa Madalena. Upgrades in furnishings were really nice. Super convenient area. A couple of very minor maintenance issues that were handled promptly by Five Star. We will definitely use Five Star again because of their superb customer service.

Just as described

Beautiful home. Plenty big enough for all 18 of us. The house is exactly as it is described. Beautiful, clean and decorated with gorgeous pieces. The golf cart is very helpful as getting to the beach with a large group is a lot of work.

I have several rental properties and…

I have several rental properties and not trying to be unfair and being honest about the property it is in a state of needed repair and I would not rent it again, the property need a lot of tender loving care. You are renting luxury property not a run of mill property and the trash around the house made it look run down. Would not rent again.

We had to call twice on a repair that was not fixed the first time. This was for a shower faucet that had fallen off and then twice because that same faucet didn't have hot water.

The reason I gave the three star rating…

The reason I gave the three star rating was because when we arrived at the house which was great but it was not as clean as it needed to be with this coronavirus going on and every company is saying they are going above there normal cleaning but I had to clean counters in the kitchen which was sticky. Then when we went to go to the beach our access code they gave us to get in the gate did not work. So I called the company to get the correct codes and no one answered. Tried 3 different times then left a message on their machine for them to return call and no one ever did. So called back the next day same thing happened. So when we went to the beach someone going in gave us the correct beach code and my son who went to the pool that day didn’t have the correct code so some one had to give him the code to the pool. Other than these things happening the house had plenty of room and was great!!! Would go back again just need the rental company to step up their game.

Amazing!

Wow! Absolutely amazing home! We so very much enjoyed our vacation in the house! Five Star was wonderful to work with. They stayed in contact with us the entire time to make sure everything was going great and that we were pleased. I highly recommend Beauty and the Beach and Five Star!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the…

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Five Star "Las Olas" property this past week! It is located on the beach, so convenient to walk out to beach or if you forgot something run back up to the house to grab what you need. The layout and amenities of the house are perfect for 3 families or more to enjoy, we had 3 families totaling 13 people and we had plenty of room, bathrooms, bedrooms, space etc We look forward to going back next year and enjoying the beautiful beach in Destin and the Las Olas property.

The property was very nice, but had a few issues.

The property was very nice, just had a few issues. (1) The elevator did not work, was repaired four days after our arrival. (2) There was a water leak in the kitchen that leaked into one of the first floor bedrooms dripping water onto the beds. We ended up shutting of the water to the small kitchen sink & ice maker. Were still able to use the larger kitchen sink. Property owner was not able to repair during our stay. (3) The gas grill was very dirty. (4) One bedroom did not cool down, was very hot. (5) We like to cook a lot, the kitchen was not equipped as well as we would have expected for a property costing this much to rent.

Needs Updates but The View is Amazing

We stayed in Sea Spell. The cleaning crew was running behind so we were delayed waiting outside the house for about 45 minutes but had hopes that meant the cleaning crew was doing an extra good job for us but the first thing we noticed upon entering the home was that the cleaning services performed were greatly lacking. Not only was the house full of sand the floors were filthy - like we had black feet from walking across them. There were no cleaning supplies except what we brought with us but we did not bring a mop. The cleaning people also left food stains on the couch that were cleanable because we cleaned them off after reporting it because we didn’t want to get blamed for them if they didn’t come off. There were food crumbs behind the amazing couch and on the window sills. They really did a poor job at cleaning and making the house ready for us. There was a dirty towel left in one of the bathrooms and a dirty, wet wash cloth left in another shower. The house needs some items updated as well. There is only one standard size refrigerator (in a house for 20 people) with no ice maker. The freezer door sticks and doesn’t want to close, the rusted shelves inside do not slide anymore. The produce drawers in the refrigerator portion are broken and everytime you pull them open they fall out and you have to line them back up to close it - since it’s the only fridge you have no choice but to fill them and use them. The patio furniture is worn out and the cushions are ripped and have the dirty stuffing hanging out. The plastic lounge chairs on the pool patio are cracked and the BBQ grill was so far beyond disgusting and rusted that we decided we would go get our own. The maintenance man that came because of the broken door handles, broken locks, broken toilet paper holders said his management would not let him replace the grill yet just because it was nasty on the inside but that since it was so rusted and dirty on the outside they may let him go ahead and replace it. He never came back so I’m assuming they said that was a no-go. Most of these items are things that could be easily taken care of by us or the rental company but when you pay this kind of money to stay somewhere you don’t expect ripped cushions on patio furniture, an unusable grill, multiple exterior doors that don’t close because the door handles are barely hanging on so they randomly blow open. The customer service side of the rental company was very good. They checked in daily to see if we needed anything. Sent someone out to handle all the issues reported. Check-in procedure was easy and hassle free except for the delayed time of the cleaners as mentioned above. On the positive side the views from this house are amazing. The large sectional couch made it great for everyone piling up together in the evenings. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have their own rooms and plenty of bathrooms. Very nice to be right on the beach and having the small private pool to enjoy after the beach was a huge plus as well. Overall this was a great trip and we enjoyed it. We are going back for another beach trip next month but are going to stay at a different house.

Poor management

Rented condo at silver shells st marten building unit 1102 through five star gulf rentals in July 2020. Actual condo was as described online. It did however have an extremely strong mildew odor to which i chalked up to a beach rental. I further figured out the reason for the smell was a water line that was leaking down the wall from the condominium located above our unit. I made five star aware about problem later in the week. The problem i i did have was in the write up of unit 1102 it noted it had tennis courts, fitness center and basketball courts at the silver shells resort. I was not so interested in the basketball but my wife plays tennis and i use the fitness center daily. All three of these amenities where not available due to a dispute with the owners and the condo association. I made five star aware to which they responded that we could use a fitness facility a few miles down the road. As i appreciated the alternative the problem is that the traffic in destin is horrible and it takes 20 minutes to go to offsite facility and there is a larger presence their that i am trying to avoid during pandemic. Further the reason i booked at a resort is so that i do not have to get in car and seek out these activities. Bottom line is that amenities where misrepresented. After emailing them back to discuss the problem further five star has refused to respond. Clearly not a five star rental agency. Would not use them in the future.

The house was perfect for our large family. The kids loved the covered pool. Only complaint was the third floor air went out early in the week and never got fixed during our week. We did call about it.

Vacation during a Pandemic

We absolutely love coming to this beach house through Five Star rentals. We so needed a vacation. We were so ready to get out of quarantine due to Covid . We were afraid we wouldn’t get to come because of the Corona Virus but were so excited when the beaches opened back up. Five Star was very helpful with answering questions to keep us updated. The house was clean and ready for us when we checked in. Five Star was always a phone call away if we needed anything during our stay.We would rent through them again. Thank you Five Star we had a wonderful time. the ocean couldn’t of been prettier.

We stayed at Not the Norm on Mirimar…

We stayed at Not the Norm on Mirimar beach. The house was pretty near perfect. It was large enough for everyone to be very comfortable and have privacy when you wanted it. It was furnished beautifully, clean and well maintained. I am picky about details and maintenance and this home met my expectations. The pool was also beautiful and clean. There were only two negatives. The trash can on the pool patio had not been emptied, the grill was dirty and cushions and chairs were out of place and dirty. It looked like someone cleaned the pool but didn't touch the patio where the pool was located. The second negative was the other patio had empty bottles and trash left out. It wasn't swept or cleaned either. The house was perfect but patios needed to be cleaned and trash taken away. We will very likely stay here again and hope someone cleans the patios because the house is great.

The Five Star staff was very helpful…

The Five Star staff was very helpful before and during our stay. They worked to answer questions and make accommodations with the COVID - 19 changes occurring almost daily in May and June of 2020. We had one minor issue with a running toilet, the flapper leaked, and they quickly responded and fixed the problem. We enjoy the neighborhood of Avalon and have already signed up for next year.

Modern Paradise

The place was beautiful and more than what we could wish for. The walk to the beach was short. The rooms were wonderful and the living space with the kitchen was grand and could accommodate large groups. We would love to book this house again
