Excellent service

Regular, informed and timely updates on progress of both our sale and purchase. Excellent support and accessibility provided by our conveyancing solicitor Tom Mclaren-Roberts.

Terrible company, shocking communication

Our experience with Conveyancing Direct was a total letdown. It felt like we were completely in the dark, especially as first-time buyers, thanks to their lousy communication. Going through the complaints process, we were constantly brushed off, pretty much putting all of the blame on us for not magically understanding a process we hired them to guide us through. One of the most frustrating things was receving all of the crucial documents we needed, including the fixture and fittings form, DAYS before exchanging. Most of these documents were dated four months prior to this but apparently that's completely normal to be unaware of the details of the house you are buying until it's too late? I know solicitors are typically slow and require you to chase a lot, but when the company are failing to reply to complaints within their own 'prescribed time frame', you know something is wrong. And when they eventually did, they managed to send it to the wrong email addresses entirely - superb attention to detail. If you are purchasing through Connells and have been connected to this company, don't do it. Just Google a well-reviewed local solicitors and use them. Our sellers were also using Conveyancing Direct and we thought it would make the whole process smoother, but I don't think they were handled by the same office, let alone the same team/person. And if they were, I have absolutely no idea how they can manage it so poorly as the reason we were forced to exchange so quickly at the end of the process was due to how frustrated the seller was with them too. There's plenty more we could mention, but in short: avoid them at all costs. The endless bad reviews speak for themselves.

Really Poor Service

we decided to remortgage with conveyancing direct back around March 2019 time. Everything seemed to be going smoothly for the completion date on 1st July 2019. 10 days before completion date we had an email fromm our case handler to say completion is all set for the 1st July. 19 days AFTER we finally completed causing us to lose money having to pay our old mortgage lender. All through this issue of completing late there was no real sense of urgency from our case handler. Also, when it came to seeing our completion statment it seems as though we have been overcharged by conveyancing direct by around £150 from what was originally agreed in the quote we was sent at the start of the process. We wouldnt of minded this if we were told about the added extra cost but at no point was we informed of this. To add icing to the cake, the cheque we received with the balance due to us, they couldnt even get that right with the wrong name being added. Me and my partner were all for making a complaint a few days ago to dispute the extra charges and the late completion but we really want to put conveyancing direct behind us. Really disappointed with the service, communication, urgency, added costs and all round general unproffesionalism.

Utterly shocking service

Utterly shocking service. Due to exchange & complete yesterday but the 'Case Handler' was out of the office and the Assistant is not qualified to handle exchanges. Dreaful communication and passing the blame on to the other side's solicitor who has been diligent and thorough throughout the process. Please people, avoid companies like this, pay a little more for a professional service from a proper solicitor and take the stress out house sales/purchases. You pay peanuts...

Avoid unprofessional slow and add…

Avoid unprofessional slow and add charges without warning. I finally last week completed on a joint FMH having been recommended them by the selling agent (who advised me they no longer recommended them) Communication at the start was first class before they had been formally appointed. Once I got the welcome pack and questioner things slowed down and when the buyers solicitor found a issue with the deeds which should have been picked up by our appointed solicitor the response was "conveyancing direct don't deal with any issues with land registry we would need to find another lawyer" Given this news I reminded them this was a fairly common situation for anyone in their trade and after asking to change to a alternative case handler as our one often took 3 days to reply to email or calls. Eventually after I had sort alternative legal advice and passed this information on they started the task of removing the restriction. The whole issue should have been picked up and sorted immediately the handler got sight of our deeds but she missed it delaying and reducing our opinions. To top it all both my ex and I felt the charge to transfer the proceeds unreasonable @£30 each so we both opted for a cheque. This turned up by 2nd class post on 3 days after completion! Made worse it was Saturday so couldn't be banked! Checking the invoice they still charged £75 plus vat to as they put it " sale pursuant to relationship separation with division of proceeds" frankly a rip off all they did was follow written instructions from both of us, no extra work and again not something uncommon. Charge was not in keeping with what both of us had been advised before signing up. Unprofessional, slow and unfair charges.

Great service

Huge thank you to Kieran Wilson and Kelly Hancock for the work done on my purchase. I gave a completion date to Kieran quite last minute and he did all he could to ensure the required completion date was met. Really pleased!

I could not find some paperwork which I had misplaced. Yesterday I rang Conveyancing Direct Property Lawyers to see if they could help me out. This morning just before 9 am I had a phone call from Jonathan Parish who had gone beyond the call of duty and solved my problem. I was that impressed with the swift action that I asked him to send me a link to give him credit for his help. Well done and thanks again. Ranjit Tagger.

Awful company for my remortgage

Awful company for my remortgage. Very rude case handler who lacked knowledge and was really slow. She admitted she just left uni and had not With a law degree either. They do not do searches on remortgages. After completion I asked them for the no search insurance policy as a problem came up and they couldn’t provide anything. This is a requirement of the lender under a cml handbook. At this time there was a different case handler who said they didn’t have anything on the file and It’s a high turnover of staff and big file loads

We used this company for a house sale…

We used this company for a house sale and purchase in July 2018 and still problems are coming to light. The house we purchased had a planning restriction on it tying it to a holiday let which they failed to pick up on. We have made a formal complaint as we don’t know where we stand legally but our phone calls and emails go unreturned. We are having to take this issue to the legal ombudsman. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!

Avoid like the plague!!

Very polite, however; slow, incompetent and thoroughly useless. If you were an Eskimo, I’m sure they’d be able to do you a decent refrigerator!! I agree with all the reviews including the person who stated that CDPLL must have written all their positive reviews. If you need a reply to a specific question, that is the equivalent of receiving thin air, then CDPLL is for you. Q) Do you now have everything you need? A) Yes, I will be touch shortly Q) Do you have an update please? A) .... Radio Silence ....

My experience with Conveyancing Direct…

My experience with Conveyancing Direct was excellent. They are very flexible and very fast at responding by email; usually with a response within 10 minutes. Caroline and the a yellow team were extremely helpful. Ignore most of the negative comments on here. They are just complaining about the conveyancing process, it’s nothing to do with Conveyancing Direct in my opinion. As a solicitor myself (not a property solicitor), I know that the service they offer is excellent, especially considering the reasonable fees.
