Excellent service

Regular, informed and timely updates on progress of both our sale and purchase. Excellent support and accessibility provided by our conveyancing solicitor Tom Mclaren-Roberts.

Terrible company, shocking communication

Our experience with Conveyancing Direct was a total letdown. It felt like we were completely in the dark, especially as first-time buyers, thanks to their lousy communication. Going through the complaints process, we were constantly brushed off, pretty much putting all of the blame on us for not magically understanding a process we hired them to guide us through. One of the most frustrating things was receving all of the crucial documents we needed, including the fixture and fittings form, DAYS before exchanging. Most of these documents were dated four months prior to this but apparently that's completely normal to be unaware of the details of the house you are buying until it's too late? I know solicitors are typically slow and require you to chase a lot, but when the company are failing to reply to complaints within their own 'prescribed time frame', you know something is wrong. And when they eventually did, they managed to send it to the wrong email addresses entirely - superb attention to detail. If you are purchasing through Connells and have been connected to this company, don't do it. Just Google a well-reviewed local solicitors and use them. Our sellers were also using Conveyancing Direct and we thought it would make the whole process smoother, but I don't think they were handled by the same office, let alone the same team/person. And if they were, I have absolutely no idea how they can manage it so poorly as the reason we were forced to exchange so quickly at the end of the process was due to how frustrated the seller was with them too. There's plenty more we could mention, but in short: avoid them at all costs. The endless bad reviews speak for themselves.

Our experience with Conveyancing Direct…

Our experience with Conveyancing Direct has unfortunately been terrible. We sold our house July 2020, and still currently waiting to exchange, any paperwork that has been sent out to us, or requested we have filled out and sent back to them within a day or two, and after weeks of chasing them and waiting on emails or phone calls back for days, our case has been handed between numerous different conveyancers/solicitors.. the week we were due to exchange, we were told our conveyancer was on annual leave, and our ‘case’ had been passed on to somebody else. I then called and spoke to the new conveyancer who was finishing off our case, who assured us all was in hand and they were waiting on one bit of paperwork which had actually been sent over in November already, after calling the following day to make sure they had received the paperwork, I was told our newest conveyancer was off work until Friday so to call back then.. frustratingly, called back on the Friday (our original exchange date) to then be told that conveyancer no longer worked for the company so somebody will try and pick our case up!! 4 days later, we are still waiting for somebody to sign off our case, we are now due to exchange this Friday, and as yet have heard nothing from them. It seems to me they are being paid to pass our paperwork between numerous different people, none of which seem to actually be doing anything with it, just simply passing it to the next person and hoping somebody will sign it off! Every time you try and phone them to find out what is going on you will be told ‘sorry they are on another line they will get back to you today at some point’. We are so incredibly frustrated and feel like we are getting nowhere. Never again will we use this company!

Service was fine

Service was fine. It did bring to our attention that working with a firm so far away from area of property being sold would not work if you did not have access to Internet. It also took over 4 months to get to completion which is to long especially when selling agents papers say it should be between 8-12 weeks.

Quick responses, good outcome

Conveyancing Direct took on the sale of our leasehold property. They encouraged us in providing information needed at an early stage, and kept us up to date with progress. The rapid response to our emails was helpful and reassuring, even at a peak time for conveyancing. I would recommend them.

Excellent, efficient service from Conveyancing direct

Excellent, efficient service from Conveyancing Direct. Our conveyancer Mia was diligent, efficient, informative and very responsive. We communicated via email always having same day responses that answered any/all questions we had; Mia guided us very smoothly through the process, always being transparent about charges etc. Would definitely recommend this company, especially is you have service from Mia.

Good experience with conveyancing on house sale

Have recently used Conveyancing Direct on a house sale. Found the conveyancer, Vicky, to be very professional. Responsive to my emails and always gave clear explanations. It does make things less stressful when there are such competent people taking care of business for you and I would definitely recommend this company and conveyancer.

Very poor from start to finish

My experience was very poor from start to finish. There was only myself and the seller in the chain and yet completion took 15 weeks. I had to constantly chase my case handler, he would often not respond to emails for several days, and despite leaving voice messages with the company, he always seemed to be on a lunch break (between 11am and 3pm most days). The vendors agents would try to contact my case handler but with no joy and they phoned me numerous times asking me to chase him as they never had any luck managing to track him down. He ignored their emails and phone messages. The completion date kept getting pushed back, and towards the end I had to phone him up 4 times to check whether or not it was going to go through the following day or not. I would not have minded as much for a low value transaction, but for a house purchase, tens of thousands of pounds leaving my account is a significant event, but for them, it appeared as though I was dealing with a few pence. 6 weeks after completion, I then had to chase them up as they owed me almost £300, and they made no effort to refund this to me in the meantime. I emailed my case handler 3 times over this and he never bothered to reply to my emails. 5 weeks later I am still awaiting a reply. They then wanted to charge me £25 to pay the cost of the BACS payment (even though this was my money). Had I not chased them, I would still not have been paid this money, and there was little in the way of apology when I discussed this issue with the company. I paid them the stamp duty on the property, and 8 weeks later I am receiving letters from HMRC about this still being outstanding. A very disappointing service, with very poor customer service levels. I would not use them again.

An incredibly slow and non-responsive

An incredibly slow and non-responsive. I am in the process of transferring my mortgage onto a sole name with the same mortgage provider. What has seemed a straightforward process became an endless saga because of Conveyancing Direct's processing times. It's been weeks and weeks since they engaged, and I learnt today that my case has not yet been assigned to a staff member there. It takes weeks for CD to reply to emails. Their telephone assistance is of no assistance so far.
