AVOID COLLINGWOOD AT ALL COSTS! Take into consideration all negative reviews and don’t overlook it like I did!!! Before purchasing I called them to double check everything and was mislead over the phone, which made me go for the worse option. I misunderstood the fine prints because they were not clearly written, and are also misleading. Not to mention the spelling mistakes over the emails exchanged. I purchased learner insurance for a set amount of months, passed my driving test before the policy ended and they are refusing to refund the money for the months I will not use the learner insurance (which I have no option but to cancel). I’ve lost £160. They are claiming I never spoke to one of their agents which is a lie. Why would I have bought a policy over others without having spoken to anyone? Do not recommend them in the slightest! Go for reputable insurance companies instead, cheap becomes costly and it’s not worth it! Regardless of policy you go for its clear that you will be at loss!

AVOID!!!! There is nothing in supplied documentation detailing cancelation fee. They refer to the terms of business and document is not available online - it's available in your account apparently, which can be made available anytime they want and once policy is cancelled - they block access to the account. There is nothing in supplied documentation, linking it to the terms of business. It would be better to let insurance laps and not cancel as they keep chasing you to inform them, when driving test is passed, so they can charge more money. Be aware!!!!!!!!

Avoid this company or at the very least, read the fine print very carefully. As others have mentioned, canceling the policy comes with a significant additional charge. In my case, I was hit with a £70.00 non-refundable intermediary fee—an absolute rip-off for a service! Despite giving a month's notice and being up to date on all payments, I still have to pay £97.56! I will never use this company again. Rip Off merchants.

My daughter passed her test last week, so we cancelled the insurance, as requested by Collingwood. BE VERY CAREFUL when taking out this policy the small print is so small that we didn’t know or get told that there is a £40 cancellation fee. If at the time of checkout it was made clear of this £40 charge or if they are confident with this £40 charge why is it on the small print and not directly on their website? I would have had no issues with this then and it would have been my choice to go ahead with the policy, the email sent has said I have 24 hours to respond but they will take the money automatically after that, so no choice but to pay and like others have said the threat of further action worries me so I will just have to pay, I am glad I am here to support my daughter in this, I thought I had read everything, clearly I didn’t, imagine a young vulnerable driver who has no one to support them, just awful. I purchased the policy in May 2024, I paid in one lump sum, the policy is no longer needed 4 months before renewal, no option to get any money back on that. Very clever way to run a business to gain as much money as possible. I must add, they may be a cheaper option for actual learner insurance, however when you go to get insurance once you’ve passed, the quote was absolutely shocking, A MASSIVE £4140!!!! It was the highest quote we received from any other insurer, I have 2 other children that will be learning to drive at some point, I WILL NOT BE USING COLLINGWOOD, PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL purely for the underhand way they do business. For the record, I managed to get my daughters insurance for £2200, just to give you a comparison, please shop around.

PLEASE be careful when taking out this policy, at first it seems good value for your child’s first car insurance policy. You will be greeted with nice customer service, polite staff etc. HOWEVER, the reality that is only made clear (in the smallest of smallprint) and after purchase, Is that as soon as your child passes their test, the policy is cancelled and you have to pay a steep cancellation charge of at least £40, and in our case the last three months of the policy are retained. I foolishly took this policy out for my son after a recommendation, thinking once passed they would then offer/upgrade him to the next level of cover, No, they immediately cancelled the policy and left my son not only upset but also his car on the drive with no insurance until I could get a new policy arranged, a minefield that should not be rushed into! Despite emails of complaint and phone discussions, all they did was hide behind pages of terms and conditions, they alienated a new young driver leaving an impression that insurance companies are not nice people and do not care about their customers. How hard would it have been to offer 24 hours of bridging cover whilst we got a policy in place even if you cannot drive the car, but NO! Zero Empathy, Compassion or Customer Service! Do not listen to customers concerns…
