One to avoid as mis sold

I stayed in the Clayton in cardiff with my wife and son and booked 2 executive rooms. I was given rooms 922 and 925 not executive rooms as these were on the 10th floor. So conned. The corridor had a horrible smell the rooms were dirty and dark the bed very small more like a large single and the bed and chairs very worn One room looked at a wall the other had a small window in the corner. The bathroom was clean but in need of replacement very tatty. The bar and restaurant were much better but expensive I booked a drinks package but was told in company this could not be the case as it was only for special occasions quite embarrassing the reception apologised and told me this was wrong and refunded me for it. I am left feeling disappointed and conned. My recommendation is stay somewhere else.

Friendly staff

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comfortable Stay in a Great Location Stayed at Clayton Hotel recently my room was clean, and the bed was ok . Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location near the city centre. Only downside was a bit of a wait at check-in and breakfast.

Rooms very dated

Rooms very dated. Television didn’t work 3 x attempts by staff to get it working. Offered a change of room at 11:45pm πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ can’t remember when I stayed in a hotel with a shower over the bath and a shower curtain πŸ˜‚ but staff very friendly and professional. Restaurant staff lovely no complaints. Hotel needs a refurb. But very clean so cleaning staff doing a good job. No complaints with staff but defo needs to be upgraded better hotels in the area. delta, tribe x

Daylight robbery

I booked a room with Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane, and they cancelled it almost immediately after I paid. I never received a refund, despite emailing them for weeks with no response. Eventually, I had to dispute the charge through Revolut and got my money back β€” only for Clayton Hotels to dispute the refund and take the money back again, even though I never stayed there and they provided no service whatsoever. This is completely unacceptable and feels like theft, plain and simple. Avoid this hotel group at all costs β€” unresponsive, unprofessional, and clearly have no issue keeping your money without delivering anything in return.

Clayton Birmingham

My friend and I stayed here during the bank holiday week for 4 days. The lady who checked us in was called Melania and she was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast options are superb. The cleanliness is fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel.

Clayton Birmingham

Regarding Clayton Birmingham: It would be great if you could explain why your hotel does not allow co-parenting families travelling a long distance to visit their 10 year old child? It’s your policy to apply stricter rules than the government as only single people staying is allowed. We were given 2 hours warning that you were cancelling our booking today even though we emailed on the Booking.com portal two days ago to explain as per your message to do just that. I was told in the phone that β€œwe have to go into the portal to get messages so we have only just seen it and you should have called us”. This is even though you give the portal as the first option to contact you... Great service guys. Please see the Jan 2021 BBC news article on the government allowing coparenting stays. Thanks for a great weekend! It’s good that other hotels are following the UK guidance. Your own website says it follows the guidance so maybe you can double check your policy again? I was also advised that you cannot even change your booking.com arrangement to prevent people booking non-single people bookings. This doesn’t make any sense!

Amazing Clayton Hotel, Birmingham x

I love staying at the Clayton in Birmingham- still travelling in an pandemic can be really scary but the Clayton hotel in Birmingham have been amazing. The staff are covid compliant at all times, while still be sooooo friendly and welcoming. they make sure all your needs are met and nothing is too much trouble. The food is fab and the rooms are light and spacious. The breakfast is made to order and can be collected or delivered to make sure your choices keep you as safe as possible and this week I love that you now have a snack shop ( well done Harry) to again make sure your visit feels like home from home. If you can work this way in a pandemic, I cannot wait to stay when life is back to normal as I feel with every visit I am thoroughly taken care of. Jason and Katrina you should be really proud of all your staff as they represent you and the Clayton chain very well.

Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane Dublin

Had a fantastic warm and friendly stay recently at the Clayton Hotel in Cardiff Lane. The location is ideally situated close to all the amenities of the city centre. The food and service were great despite all the difficulties that the new Covid restrictions require, all Staff adhered to the necessary Covid safety rules. Staff were still able to meet all our needs with good spirit and any mishaps were promptly dealt with, with politeness and efficiency. Had a great two night stay and was sorry to have to go home. The atmosphere was very festive and it was great to hear and see people laugh and have fun safely as the spacious common areas were well planned out. Will be returning.

Wonderful Hotel

Stayed at the Clayton Crown on Cricklewood. This is a wonderful hotel tucked out of the way from the tourist areas of London. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. We had breakfast a few times at the hotel, and it was absolutely wonderful. Also visited the pub; it was nice getting to sit close to the fire on a cold night. The location is perfect, as the bus stop is a few steps outside the hotel. Its also just up the hill from Kilburn station (jubilee). Lots of takeaways within 3 minutes walking distance of the hotel, with several grocers close by too. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when in London.

Clayton Hotel, Cambridge - great visitor experience

Having had to cancel our eagerly anticipated overseas holiday for which we've been saving for a long time, we have had a couple of mini-breaks since hotels re-opened on 4th July. Having stayed at several other Clayton Hotels where everything is consistently good, we felt confident that the Clayton Hotel in Cambridge would meet expectations and, in the light of Covid-19, adhere to stringent health and safety measures. It did not disappoint. Simple online check in procedures were put in place, one could watch a short video online where the CEO welcomes patrons back and explains sanitisation processes. We received a warm welcome. Our room was inviting - crisp linen, huge comfortable bed, sparkling clean bathrooom with luxury Irish designer Paul Costelloe toiletries and plenty of fluffy towels and a power shower. All surfaces have been decluttered to minimise contamination. Crockery has been replaced by disposable cups and stirrers - a sensible, reassuring precautionary practice. Clients and staff all maintained social distancing and wore masks in public areas. Hand sanitisers were in the lobby and even inside the lift, which impressed us. Also, we saw hotel personnel cleaning in the common parts throughout our stay. There were notices indicating guidance on safety - prominent but without detracting from the lovely ambience of the hotel. We haven't been in Cambridge for a while. Ahead of our stay, we spoke with Megan who had very good knowledge of the area and gave helpful suggestions as did her colleagues on Reception after check in. A map and directions were readily provided. The central location (next to the mainline station) and ease of parking nearby make the Clayton, Cambridge an excellent visitor destination. It's a great walking city - within a short distance of the hotel; there is plenty to see and do despite some attractions obviously being closed at this time. Furthermore, if you're an Irish patron, you probably love the sport of the turf! The National Horse Racing Museum, Newmarket is just 30 minutes away. Fortified by a very substantial breakfast at The Clayton we had a great day there. (Nb: the menu offers a full English breakfast but with delicious black pudding and hash browns included, I'd say it could be re-branded as... a full Irish!) We plan to return to the Clayton, Cambridge in the not-too-distant future and will certainly use it as a base to stay when we visit for the award winning Christmas Market at City Hall and Market Square. In our opinion, there will never be a better time to visit - there are few tourists or students in the city. It's an opportunity to enjoy the environs of Cambridge in a leisurely way without crowds and the Clayton is a relaxing haven.

Very bad Cardiff Lane

Very bad food , burned toast , par cooked eggs , basic teas and coffee not worth the price. Was staying 4 nights and we had breakfast once ! Orderd room service, ridiculous prices for a plate of chips and some veg which also wasn't cooked throughout. Very bad view as we were waking up to a construction site every morning which was appalling for the money we paid noise of the workers waking us up each morn. No shampoos no conditioners no soaps no fresh towels . When we requested our room to be cleaned we expected fresh towels fresh bedding and fresh tea and coffee packets. When we returned ...NO towels NO clean bedding and NO tea or coffee. ..cleaner just made our bed which we already done ! Elevators are an absolute joke . Taking 10 mins for the lift to go to the correct floor ! You wouldn't want to be in a hurry ! Highly dissatisfied and will not be recommending the clayton to anybody and in result we checked out a day early without any refunds !

Great hotel

Great hotel, definitely recommend if you are flying from Manchester. The only disappointing thing is the Clayton hotel always ends up being better than where we stay on holiday!
