One to avoid as mis sold

I stayed in the Clayton in cardiff with my wife and son and booked 2 executive rooms. I was given rooms 922 and 925 not executive rooms as these were on the 10th floor. So conned. The corridor had a horrible smell the rooms were dirty and dark the bed very small more like a large single and the bed and chairs very worn One room looked at a wall the other had a small window in the corner. The bathroom was clean but in need of replacement very tatty. The bar and restaurant were much better but expensive I booked a drinks package but was told in company this could not be the case as it was only for special occasions quite embarrassing the reception apologised and told me this was wrong and refunded me for it. I am left feeling disappointed and conned. My recommendation is stay somewhere else.

Friendly staff

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comfortable Stay in a Great Location Stayed at Clayton Hotel recently my room was clean, and the bed was ok . Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location near the city centre. Only downside was a bit of a wait at check-in and breakfast.

Rooms very dated

Rooms very dated. Television didn’t work 3 x attempts by staff to get it working. Offered a change of room at 11:45pm 🤦‍♀️ can’t remember when I stayed in a hotel with a shower over the bath and a shower curtain 😂 but staff very friendly and professional. Restaurant staff lovely no complaints. Hotel needs a refurb. But very clean so cleaning staff doing a good job. No complaints with staff but defo needs to be upgraded better hotels in the area. delta, tribe x

Daylight robbery

I booked a room with Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane, and they cancelled it almost immediately after I paid. I never received a refund, despite emailing them for weeks with no response. Eventually, I had to dispute the charge through Revolut and got my money back — only for Clayton Hotels to dispute the refund and take the money back again, even though I never stayed there and they provided no service whatsoever. This is completely unacceptable and feels like theft, plain and simple. Avoid this hotel group at all costs — unresponsive, unprofessional, and clearly have no issue keeping your money without delivering anything in return.

Clayton Hotel Leeds

Clayton Hotel Leeds - Stayed for one night to attend a concert and found the hotel to be excellent. Just off the motorway junction, easily found the entrance to the car park (although it is a first come first served basis so be mindful). Walking distance to the city centre...ideal. We stayed in one of the executive rooms on the 8th floor which was perfect...surprisingly quiet (no noise above us) plus silent closing doors. Great blackout curtains, clean spacious room, really comfortable bed, nice pillows and we nearly overslept!! Breakfast was really nice, a lot of choice and I mean a variety of foods available. Had a lovely time in Leeds....thank you!!!

Dublin Clayton Airport Park and Ride

Dublin Clayton Airport Park and Ride Frustrated I have to write a negative review as all was going brilliantly. Car drop off, perfect. Parking space found in underground, no problem. Swift transport to the airport, so all going well. Returned from holiday having spent over 15hrs traveling trans Atlantic, got to the pick up spot. Waited an hour for return transport, during which time multiple calls were made by various clients enquiring where the transport was. When I initially arrived at pick up 8 people were waiting. When the bus arrived I wouldn’t be exaggerating by saying their were at least 60, 20+ couldn’t board as it was full. Outrageous to have to wait an hour+ to travel 5km to the hotel. Finding car and getting out of car park was no problem. Passing 3 x parked up Clayton buses on the way out! Unfortunately I won’t be using again and will stick to the Blue, long stay car park in future. Disappointed.

ClubVitae Gym - Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley (Part of the Dalata Hotel Group) Review

I was a Member of ClubVitae - The Gym in Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley ( Part of the Dalata Hotel Group ) for 2 Years on full Membership - When I joined, the Full Time Membership Cost €365.00, and then on the second year I paid the same €365.00 . However, the third Year I got a phone call to say that my Membership was due for renewal, only this time it would be €399.00 a sneaky increase of €34.00 without any prior notification. When I attempted to negotiate the price, I got a straight out NO, in other words take it or leave it that's all your getting! I was not informed as to what the sneaky increase of €34.00 was for. Considering in a number of previous Gyms I was in they rewarded loyalty - In fact in previous Gyms I was in they use to lower the price to keep Customers, but ClubVitae Highers the prices without prior notification, and have no incentives to retain loyal customers. The funny part is since July 1st 2018 ClubVite Liffey Valley stopped giving Customers complementary towels, which is a step backwards. Basically your now paying more and getting less. Not exactly the type of service one should expect from a 4 Star Hotel! On top of all that I even sent an E-Mail to the ClubVitae Liffey Valley Manager, giving her an opportunity to enlighten me as to why I should consider renewing my Membership and pay more and get less - the e-mail was not acknowledged or replied to, which speaks for itself! UPDATE: She rang me back on Friday 12th October 2018 - And informed me that she's not responsible for the pricing itself, that's handled by another department. The Gym itself is very small, everything is on one floor, some of the items in recent times like cable machines and chest press were broke for a number of weeks and left that way for a while. And it can easily become over crowded at peak times. One experience that put me off a while back, I had pointed out to the Club Manager that the floor in the changing room was soaking and I asked her if there was a leak and she looked at me, and said in a very patronizing way while making a hand movement of patting something and said "Well you have to feel the floor before you stand on it and see if it's wet" . This comment was highly inappropriate in the context and way it was said and I was offended by it because it was disrespectful implying that it was my responsibility to do their job but I let it go at the time but have thought very little of the Manager ever since for saying that to me. UPDATE: When she rang me back on Friday the 12th October 2018 I mentioned this incident to her and did apologize for it. I have been in contact with A Mr. MM Head of Ancillary Revenue at Dalata Hotel Group on Friday 12th October 2018 who is responsible for ClubVitae - He immediately defended the price and said "I think the price is very reasonable for the area the Gym is situated in" I wasn't sure what he meant by the comment and asked him if he meant there something wrong with the area it was in and he said that's not what he meant. This man was polite but nothing more, he failed to reassure me. and was not open to any kind of negotiation what so ever, it did not bother him if I left the Gym or stayed. And I got the impression that he wasn't too interested. In my view he was not Customer focused. UPDATE: After a number of correspondence(s) between me and Mr. MM he never once clarified what the extra unexpected increase in the membership was for, I raised my detailed concerns and in the end here's exactly what he said to me " I will have to stick with what I said in that I believe that the gym is good value. " To reiterate he was polite, and was not rude to me at any stage, but from a consumer's perspective he demonstrated to me a level of arrogance, and was not customer focused. His belief that the Gym is good value does not represent the people having to fork out the high unreasonable prices they are charging, and again the main issue is here there is no willingness to negotiate or reason on any level, which speaks volumes for itself! They gladly take your hard earned cash but won't reason with you when it comes to renewing your membership! Most other Gyms with common courtesy, and who value Customers will almost 100% go out of their way to retain customers, but my experience from ClubVitae is that your Not Valued, and it's it you Pay what they tell you to Pay or be on your way and find somewhere else. In circumstances like these my advice is from a consumer's perspective if your shown no regard, show none. Take your custom somewhere else that Values you! There's a lot of competition in this particular market and other Gyms near by in around Clondalkin, Lucan and Ballyfermot etc, plenty to choose from. But I certainly would not recommend ClubVitae Liffey Valley - Part of The Dalata Hotel Group, based on my poor experience and the fact that they didn't value my loyal custom. I hope my consumer review in which I am entitled to will help other people looking to find a Gym that will Value you, look elsewhere you won't get it here!! For a so called 4 Star Hotel, Extremely Disappointing and unsatisfactory! I suppose if the service is bad from the top down what can you expect. UPDATE: Flyefit Gym is opening directly beside this gym which means you will be able to join this instead for half the price or less, it's much cheaper!!

Not good

This is such a shame to write because a couple years ago I gave an outstanding review of this exact hotel. I've now had to edit it because it's really gone down hill. We had 2 interconnected rooms & there was mould in the grout in both bathrooms. The breakfast was terrible, the dishes were not clean, its so loud when trying to sleep but I am a light sleeper. The beds are comfortable and staff are polite and helpful but they look to be under pressure with not enough help.

Don't expect high expectations unless you're drunk in which case it won't matter!

Paid for a suite so expected high standards in the 4 star rated hotel in Birmingham. Check in time was 3:00pm, we arrived at 3:30pm and the room wasn't ready. The nice receptionist asked us to wait a short period whilst the room was cleaned. 10 minuntes later we were called back to reception and given the key cards to our room. The lobby looks like it should clean and spacious and the hotel is high tech with touch pad entry with ur key cards. The suite was as described large. That's all the good bits! We got to our room, relaxed a little before heading out. Our fault for not checking the entire suite. When we arrived back from our trip out, the room smelt damp. It's had turned a little cold so tried to heat the room using the a/c. Again all electrical, 30 mins of messing around trying to use it with no avail, so called down to reception to be told they lower the temperature for spring, but to put it on automatic and that they will increase the room temperature from reception. And hour later still cold. Just felt fobbed off by reception staff. Didn't have the energy to argue. Woke up in the morning to go shower to find long brown hair in the shower tray! It would explain how a suite was cleaned in 10 minutes. Shower is described as monsoon shower, felt more like a drizzle! My wife showered around 11:30am to find the water was luke warm! Tip shower early if you like it hot! The website advises late checkout at extra cost..cost not a problem - but when you ask first time round you get told we don't do late checkout on a Sunday. Only after complaining that the room wasn't ready on checkin were we given the option for late checkout. The website advises it has a private car park, it does, but get there early as it's very limited for space and is a gravel pit, so if you're worried about your paint work on your new car, park in Selfridges! Night reception staff need training on customer service! The best thing about the hotel - the quick checkout! Really disappointed with the hotel for putting a dampener on our late anniversary celebrations! After reading more reviews, it's seems the same story over the night staff even though the General manager says she'll be dealing with the issues from previous clients complaints... obviously staff learn from the management on ways to fob off their guests. So we got an automated email from Clayton Hotels, saying they were sorry for our experience and to contact their deputy manager - who replied saying he will look investigate the matter and be in touch. Over two weeks later and no response. This is where the night staff get their training from!

Clayton Hotel Leopardstown

Clayton Hotel Leopardstown, Sandyford Business District, Central Park, Dublin 18, Ireland My company sent me to Sandyford, Dublin for a week’s training. My accommodation for was at the Clayton Hotel. I admit being one for local BnBs, or low budget hotels. My experience of the larger hotel variety, in my past has been too clinical, not bothered, with a care of indifference. Clayton’s, from what I saw of it, is not that. There is a choice of rooms that may come your way, but I was blessed with a two bed/three-person occupancy on the fourth floor. The room was ensuite, and for me, much too big. But I was not paying for it, so I made of it what I could. AS I said two beds, three generous, cloth covered individual chairs, a lounge table, a long piece of side table, mirrors, 40 something inch television, plenty of draws and hanging spaces, trouser press, kettle and tea/coffee essentials, hairdryer, and laundry bag, also a Holy Bible. More than enough floor space, full length windows with nets and ceiling to floor heavy weight curtains. Access to the rooms is by way of three lifts from the reception area. On the Ground level enter the lift area through a set of heavy double doors opposite Reception. You will need your Keycard, from Reception, to get access to the lifts to your rooms. Getting there from Dublin Airport The Clayton is about an hour, maybe 45 minutes south of the airport. There is ample parking at the hotel if you are hiring a car during your stay, alternatively you can take a taxi or the Aircoach. I would recommend that Aircoach because the end of the route is, right outside the Clayton Hotel itself before returning to Dublin airport. At the time of writing, a single ticket sets you back six euros, a return is ten euros. From the airport the route will take you through the centre of Dublin City with plenty of set down or pick up points. If your destination is Bill gates’ Irish HQ then there is also a stop right outside his front door. Just tell the driver where you want to go. and he will drop you off as close as possible. Ticketwise you can purchase a ticket from the booth outside Dublin Airport Arrivals. On your return simply pay the driver. My advice here is to have the right money with you when you board, as they do not carry much change. Arrival When you arrive by Aircoach or taxi you will be under a glass roof, so no getting wet if it is raining. Taxis set down closest to the hotel, the coach furthest away, by maybe five metres. You will be met with shallow steps or a ramp, the choice is yours. Please bear in mind that smokers do congregate here. Entrance to the hotel is through two sets of manually operated, glass, doors or an automatic, circular set, of glass doors. Reception is to you left behind a glass wall. Simply queue and approach a member of staff when he/she is free. Listen to the advice, take your Keycard, and cross the floor area to the middle set of doors on the opposite side of the reception area. Unless opened for you, you will need to insert your Keycard to access the lift area. Lifts Once inside you will find three lifts and two vending machines. The lifts will tale you to your accommodation floors. The vending machines will not. Inside the lifts you will see there are two sets of doors. Unless told otherwise always enter and exit the lift through the same set of doors. Occasionally the other doors will open to convey members of staff from their work areas to the rest of the hotel. Bedrooms Unless opened for you, you will need to insert your Keycard to access the rooms. Insert the Keycard face up, in the direction of the arrow. You should see a green light and hear the click of the lock. If you see a red light, no light, and no click, then there is a problem with your card. This happened a couple of times with me. The problem as it turned out was mine. I kept my Keycard close to my mobile phone. The answer is to keep the Keycard in your wallet. The strip on the reverse side of the Keycard can be affected by the proximity of the mobile phone. If it is the Keycard information can be stripped from it. Dining Finally, there is the dining experience. This I cannot tell you anything about as I never dined there, however if you arrive in time to get a meal in the evening then take advantage of the discounts offered to you at reception. This will save you a bob or two and settle you in nicely. On my first day I hade been up since four am in the morning, done a full shift of budgets flights and training. I was in no fit state for dinner, and only just made it to my bed to sleep the night away. Breakfast is another ball game entirely, and if this experience is anything to go by, then evening meals and bar meals must really be worth experiencing. Breakfast is taken to the right of the exit from the lifts, past the open stairwell to the floor below. Turn up with luggage (if this is your last day) or not (if it isn’t). Where you breakfast is either alone or with company. Please wait for a member of staff to greet you and/or your party and escort you to a table. Those who are on their own will be seated behind the dining reception, those others in company will be seated closer to the outside walls. You will be offered tea and coffee as you arrive. Breakfast is an all you can eat affair. Make your choices from cereals, fresh fruits, fresh yoghurts, eggs, bacon, sausages, white and black puddings, tomatoes, beans, potatoes, and mushrooms. Fruit, fresh juices, bread, toast, and pastries are all on offer. Favourite member of staff. That is easy. Ana She is one of the catering staff who greeted every morning for breakfast. Calm efficient, always had a smile, and always greeted me warmly. They are all great, easy to speak to and all approachable. You should never have a problem while you are there. Summary of advice. From Dublin, always take the Aircoach. It is comfortable, quick and efficient. It will collect you outside Arrivals, take you to the Clayton Hotel and take you back to your terminal with the minimum of fuss. My advice is to have the right money with you if you board from city centre of out of the way stops, as the drivers do not carry much change. At the Clayton, always keep your Keycard separate from your mobile phone. Four floors is a long way from the Reception if it does not work. Always have breakfast. There is no excuse. There are seven floors. Is there a good view or not? My vantage point was a building site. Two other sides look out over busy roads, one side is opposite high office blocks. If you are looking for green spaces forget it. Central Park is an urban jungle with a tramway behind it, not a tranquil forest, grassy knolls and fields.

Just checked in to the Birmingham…

Just checked in to the Birmingham hotel, room smells of mould and the hotel are not willing to do anything bar put a machine in when we go out. No move to another room. Really poor first experience. They have since offered a complimentary upgrade next time I come ... I definitely won’t be coming back.
