Terrible customer service. I tried to close service, I was placed on hold and no one returned. This happened twice. When I finally spoke to someone she was very difficult and acted like I was not able to close the account and asking a lot of personal questions. She finally said she would end service but didn’t do it and another payment has been taken out of my checking account. I am still trying to cancel the service.

I have used this company for warranties for years, but, I have decided to cancel all my policies with them due to the company going way downhill. I had to call four times to get a sewer clog resolved. The first person forgot to submit the claim to RotoRooter, and the second person called the wrong RotoRooter and told me I was out of the RotoRooter territory (not accurate). The third person avoided the issue entirely and tried to sell me more warranties. The fourth person finally understood what I was saying and contacted my local RotoRooter. The people answering the telephone are not trained well, and they don't speak or understand English well. This company has become a sham!!

Why are all the reviews only for 2024. Is AWR just now starting their protection line service??? Not sure how they would have received my information unless the city water company sold it to them.

Not sure about all these complaints. I recently enrolled. My mailed card EXPLICITY stated this was only for water lines OUTSIDE the house. Not faucets etc. With a 120 yr old house in Detroit water line damage replace costs $5-10,000.00. $9/Mo well worth. Every negative I read has NOTHING RELATING TO OUTSIDE LINES. Maybe my policy is different?

I am dealing with this shistie company right now. I saw water puddling at my shut off valve next to my home on last Wednesday evening. Call AWR the next day. According to some of the reviews I read on their site, a tech came out the same day. Guess what....my appointment was the following Monday. Water leaking for 6"days. Took off work to wait for tech from 1-5 pm. Large window! I waited and finally received a txt at 1:30 saying he was on his way. I never saw him. Called the company and left message. No response. Called AWR, they say he came out and said my type of water line and water valve was not covered. Leak in meter box. Does this make sense.?? How do you pick and choose the type of water line to cover? I asked for someone else to come out and the rep said I would have to pay someone for a second opinion. Please don't get shocked like me when you need this service. I have to find someone to come out and repair my water leak. TERRIBLE!!! 😞

I've been paying for two services, electric and unlimited water & sewer line coverage. So a few months ago I needed a electrician they told me it would take 3 weeks for someone to come out. I went out of pocket and they never reimbursed me. Today, I needed a plumber bathtub faucet leak, they said it was not covered only outside dwelling. I said ok, I have a small leak on the outside spigot.....after being on hold for 15 min they said that wasn't covered either. I immediately canceled both alleged protections. Waiting for a refund now.

Horrible. Do not use this company. They do not send anyone to fix anything and just take your money. It's a complete scam!

I just received their post card today and automatically thought.....scam. Came here and low and behold, the consensus says indeed it is. Throwing this card right in the recycle can.

We just received one of these "letters". It looks like a scam, so I came here to check it out and sure enough, it is.

I received American Water's solicitation letter on June 21, 2024. On the face of it, something just didn't sound right. For example, their letter has the following statement printed in small bold type: "American Water Resources is a trademark of American Water and used under license, but is not owned by American Water. As such, AWR's optional programs are not provided or guaranteed by American Water or its affiliates, and any changes in AWR's prices are not determined or controlled by American Water or its affiliates." That's alot of twisted rhetoric that sounds like a cop-out to me, so I came here, to Trustpilot, to see what others had to say, and sure enough, it appears they're just off-shore money collectors who provide no service nor value of any kind. My thanks go to all who posted here to warn us of these awful scammers, and thanks to Trustpilot for hosting these reviews. Needless to say, I won't be sending these clowns any $$$.

AWR withdraw $$ from my bank without my consent I spoke with Michael on 05-14-24 asking why they did that? he couldn't explain and had to put me on hold 3 times. after a long while they agree to put my $ back into my account, gave me two conformations #s and to my surprise they only put halve of the $...a total SCAM Co. I will report this to BBB

They gave me a number to call telling me to call them when you call you can't even get hold of a live person and then afterwards 3 weeks later say it's not covered under warranty it's a scam also you can even understand half of the people that answer the phone. American!!! Key word American water resources sucks they don't want to help you for crap

82° in my house 60° at register normal use to be 43° @ register. AWR paid hers and his plumbing and A/C $1,500,two days later AWR tells me they paid $2,200 to let freon out had 500 pressure high side. That the visit before they are the ones that unessessarily over filled freon into my a/c unit. I think my compressor is getting weak yet not obvious enough for them to determine to fix so I'm stuck no fix and my deductible cut in half. OUC Electric providing this AWR warranty package thru my utility bill payments. Basically last visit is $2,250 labor cause not parts were replaced. Now I find tech informed me charge was actually $300. So AWR is exaggerating the cost. Unless they are not able to explain correctly. I guess stuck with high $500 electric bill and weak unit I guess I need to call Bryant a/c about there unit. And or original installer Bellaire

Money scammers. They don't do anything but take your money. Had to hire my own contractor for $150 because they didn't respond until 3 weeks later. Had a main drain clog couldn't use any water or flush toilets

I believe this company is a Scam, I've been waiting over 2 weeks for this warranty service on my malfunctioning well. I've called 6 times and each time I've been told a contractor will call me that day to repair/replace the pump. No call, nobody showed. I asked for a supervisor and I was told "none available". I had to strain to understand what the people answering the phone were saying as they spoke broken English. I'm going to file a report with the Pa. Attorney General Consumer Protection Agency. This company needs to be investigated and made to return all money that they collected from these Fake Warranties.

I was paying for similar coverage for about three years at about $8.00 per month, but something seemed wrong. Years ago I recall someone saying they would make a lot of money offering similar insurance. They bragged about it and never talked about paying claims. Having been an insurance accountant at one time, I knew you had to set aside money for claims from premiums collected. In 2008, AIG's president, Maurice Greenburg, set up a company that collected premiums with no reserve for losses. The rest is history. So I was leary of this so called insurances for sewer losses. About two years ago, I discovered that my homeowners insurance covers these losses for about $20 per year. I haven't looked back since. Be careful. These companies will send mail with township logos and American-sounding names, and it will all sound good until you try to collect. Let me also include Carshield, the biggest scammer I got caught by. They use another company to do the administration, and they never pay off. It's all in the fine print. Good luck to all my senior friends. We need each other's backs.

My aunt was paying this "outfit" $6.49 a month for "coverage." Sadly, she passed away in late 2023. We just discovered AWR had been helping themselves to triple the amount of the annual premium of $77.88 via ACH, that I'm not certain she even authorized. Also, I found where she paid a plumber $300.00 in September of 2023 to unclog the kitchen sink. If AWR was legitimate, they should have paid that expense. In my opinion, they prey on the elderly and are set up to scam. After I emailed her death certificate, they still withdrew additional monies...the very next day. Steer clear of the shysters.

They are a SCAM. They denied my valid claim and cited it was a pre-existing condition. When pressed they initially stated it was based off the notes of the plumber but that is not accurate. The plumber that they hired to come even stated that it could not be determined WHEN it occurred. Made me wait another WEEK without working water to deny it for the same reason and continue to refuse to document it in writing. AVOID

This is a scam company for fake insurance. They have been taking advantage of elderly and disabled people for years. They pretend to be the local water department to trick people.
