They didnt answer the phone for me

Terrible service! I scheduled the plumber to come out on my day off to fix a leaking pipe. I waited all day and no show, After calling several times he said he could come out the next day, I had to use a vacation day to wait again. When he finally arrived he said American water wouldn't cover a leak on galvanized pipe. No where did American water tell me that when signing up. I had a temporary clamp on the pipe to stop the leak and all he did was tighten it and said sign this. I get paid either way and I'm putting on paper that I put a clamp on the pipe. For one, this was my clamp and all he did was re-tighten it and leave. The worst $50 I've spent and I'm stuck with a leaky pipe. This company needs to sued! Tried calling American Water Resources to complain and their phone kept cutting out and couldn't understand a freakin' word they said- WoW!

1 star is too much. They do not cover broken sewer lines caused by roots...which is probably the main reason lines break. I canceled and 6 months later still waiting for my refund which they assure I will receive. Well 7 calls later still waiting. DO NOT BUY THIS POLICY!!! I still have the indoor policy and will not be renewing. I won't cancel because they will keep the money anyway.

Took out in home water & sewer line protection plan & added in home plumbing emergency program. When selling it they assured me everything UNDER house was covered. Today we have standing sewer water near pipe where toilet drains. Called for claim. Oh we don't cover that, why not? We don't cover broken pipes. We think clogged not broken. Well which? Responded if we were plumbers we wouldn't need you. Well it's not covered. Why does contract say clogged sewer? Well no. Read to him contact. He replied it might be broken, is it? How do we know? Well you said backing up in house, no I did not. At least not yet. Besides your representative when selling me this plan said everything was covered. Evidently nothing is covered. Said I was canceling and contacting the BBB. Well why would I want to cancel? Seriously? Finally told a plumber would come and look for my $50 co pay and if not covered I will get my $50 back. I'll believe it when they come. Very unhappy. And after reading other reviews I'm probably never going to see a plumber from them.

I always contact trustpilot.com or BBB before I sign up for a subscription. I heard about this company from my neighbor. He has a subscription and can not get anyone to come out to resolve his plumbing problem. That was a red flag for me. I went on trustpilot.com site and saw all 1 star ratings with a few positive ratings that were probably written by AWR. I WILL NOT BE SUBSCRIBING TO AWR' Do your homework before dealing with this company.

This company total scam. I had what I thought was a clog. Turned out to be a broken pipe. Called to make a claim first rep said they dont cover broken pipes underground and i need to read my contract. So i did. Turns out the pipe is covered breaking ground is not. Fine. Call back make a claim. They send a plumber out that tell me my out of pocket will be 2000! Thats the whole job. I complain they provide no resolve. The plumber calls me back and now the price has jumped to $2500!!!! I call my personal plumber out and they quoted the job with no warranty at $2300. Do not work with these people. They are a total rip off!

I am glad I checked here first before I signed up with them. Thank you all, who took the time to review with their own experiences, you are protecting many others from scams like this.

I've used AWR for two years, and haven't had to use their services. My Air Condition went out and I contacted them and was told they didn't have a contractor in my area. I was told to get my contractor and they would pay them. I did so and when it was time to pay, they didn't and I had to pay the contractor. I had five plans with them and when they didn't pay for the work done I canceled my subscription with them and requested a refund. I was told that I couldn't get a refund because I no longer had a subscription plan with them, and the only way I could get my refund was to resubscribe again. So American Water Resources didn't pay for the work, and they still have the money I requested for a refund. SHAME ON YOU

This company is a scam. They don't deliver what they promise. A simple claim takes forever and then all of a sudden its denied.

I contacted American Water Resources for a clogged kitchen drain on a Thursday night. First issue, they said a plumber will be calling me the next day to schedule a time. No one called me. I had to contact the plumber directly and they were able to come at 6:30 Friday. They showed up in an unmarked van and asked if we had a plunger he could use. He couldn't fix the clog and said someone will contact me tomorrow (Saturday with a time to come back with a camera) still waiting to hear from someone on Monday. I called and they scheduled me for Tuesday then called later that day to cancel and reschedule me for Wednesday then called to cancel again and scheduled me for Thursday. Now a week later and unable to use my kitchen sink I called back AWR and was told I could hire my own local plumber and submit a reimbursement for the work performed. I have in home plumbing plus and sewer line protection plans. Needless to say, they denied the claim advising I did not have authorization to hire someone. After I explained the events and that customer service sent me the claims form and advised me to do so. All while enduring the most abusive and rude customer service agents I have ever delt with. The cost of this program was high $27.00 a month that I paid for years and recently decided to cancel it, but they lowered the monthly bill to $8.47. This is an absolute waste of money, and someone should be regulating the cost of this program as well as the services they provide. False advertising, rude representatives, and unprofessional service. Instead of this program, my homeowner's insurance has an endorsement for sewer line protection at a minimal cost and decided to go with State Farm in case any issue arise with the sewer line. In home plumbing plus doesn't protect you as they mislead you to believe. It's better just to pay out of pocket and find your own plumber. Also, I asked them to cancel my plan yesterday and it's still active. I called this morning, and their computers are down. AWR service is horrible, and they need to be investigated.

American water plumper insurance not helpful in anyway I signed up for the plumbers insurance plan waited the initial 30 days and called after for some issues on talking with the representative, it was explained to me that most of my issues wasn’t covered under the plan but at the same time a plumber was still sent out upon a plumber arrival 80% of my issues was not taken care of because of the plan the plumber mentioned to me about the advanced plumbing plan, which in detail should’ve been explained to me when I made my appointment because the agent asked what my issues were, and said nothing about any advance program which most of my plumbing needs would’ve been taken care of now I’ve been told I have to wait an additional 30 days to get a plumber out spoken to a supervisor which explained to me that a plumber will not be sent out again for the issues previously submitted to them so I just went and canceled it. It should’ve been explained in the beginning what plans and services American Water was offering on their plumbing insurance and which plant would’ve been better for me I would not recommend anyone to get this particular insurance from American Water

This company is a scam tried to remove their services from my local water service bill . 3 months of lies and run around I finally had to close the account and reopen a new one to get these scammers off my account at the suggestion of my water service provider. They had no intention of ending their abusive billing process even called them to ask for a refund for the service they were continuing to bill for not at my request. That was another joke in itself. Told me it was scheduled to end tomorrow. What a sad joke of a company. Please be aware many 1 star reviews I’m seeing here and wasn’t at all surprised to find out that this was the case. Please look further before getting involved with this company.

Terrible people, bad services. Can never speak with American people. Always foreign people. Never able to resolve your problems. Do not deal with these people stay away.they also charged me for services I canceled and when it came down to using service they claimed I owe 70 bucks, and I paided for the service I used but couldn't get service and they kept my money. Do not shop with them or you will regret it, financially

I am one of those people who don't like calling businesses because either they are too cold or too bombarding with the upsell. I called today and talked to a Shemeka (hope spelling is correct) she was so cool to talk to balancing all points of contact. I would say she succeeded on the upsell and answering my questions because of her customer service skills.

They need better service representatives for one. This company does not care about its customers. I have reached out to them over a week to get someone to fix my electrical problem. I have explained that I have medical equipment that I use to help me breathe. They have just given me the run around.

I paid $12.80/month to NJ American water for years for a Water Line Protection Plan for my home in Strathmere, NJ. When I was notified that the plan cost was increased from $12.80/month to $19.18/month, I called and cancelled it. I received written notice from NJ American Water of its cancellation. BUT, they won't stop charging me. Its been four consecutive months of over charges. Each month (now its March 2024) when I call NJ American, they say they are not responsible, that I must contact Water Line Protection Plan. Water Line Protection Plan says they are reviewing it. I'm so glad I decided to check on American Water Resources before signing up. I get flyers pushing this service via our AMAC membership. As they say "if it's too good to be true, it is" I will question AMAC "Why are you associated with this scam company?"

Scam You get the total package and then when you need to use them, not only do they not notify you of an appointment day and time but after you've paid the "service fee" they say you're not covered Stay away from them

After many months of trying to get my reimbursement costs for fixing my water leak that they did not have services to provide, I believe American Water Resources company is fraudulent in its services and advertising. They do not have a structure that allows a customer to actually speak to anyone who has authority to reimburse legitimate claims. They deny any submission for reimbursement--period.

They are over charging customers and lying about usage!!!!!!!!!
