Not worth it

Homedna.com and ancestry.com literally gave me two complete different versions of my DNA sequence or a DNA stored sequence home DNA gave me 88% sub-Saharan African predominantly east African 12% indigenous native American south of the border and ancestry.com literally added European DNA and 2% of native American DNA in the region of United States in Canada in regards to my African DNA. They put me as predominantly west African, I am very puzzled and I do not believe that these DNA companies are where they need to be in regards to ethnicity understanding only reason I gave it a one star is because in regards to relatives they do a pretty good job finding them I do not recommend an accessory.com. If you want to know your families heritage in fear that they may just randomly put some things together. I will be investigating one more DNA company then I will be taking further steps because this is wrong and it should not be happening to us paying customers.

It was an interesting experience

It was an interesting experience. I was born and raised in the USA but my parents are from Ghana, West Africa so I already knew my ancestral background. I just wanted to see how accurate this product was. I got a high percentage from Ghana but other places in West Africa too. At first I thought it was a mistake but actually, it could be true since many African countries were a part of the same Empire before colonization even though today they are divided into different countries due to colonization. So those ancestors could have come from the same West African Empire. Impressively accurate information about West African culture and very educational for those unfamiliar with the culture of the people.

I guess I was expecting a little more

I guess I was expecting a little more. I was told by family that had done this over a year ago that they found out we had a half-sibling. They chose not to connect with him. While I disagreed with their decision, they chose not to share his information with me. I was hoping by doing this that I would find him, but this didn’t happen. I am saddened and confused.

What a waste of my money

What a waste of my money! Since I already knew the birthplace of my grandparents and parents, telling me my gene pool was from southwestern and central Italy was a complete waste. A ripoff!

Took me over seven months to actually get a DNA kit I was sent the first one and never received it. The second one I received didn’t have a postage stamp to send back the third one I received six months after that it’s been a long process. I got my results eventually. Would never recommend this to anybody you pay for it. You buy it and the next day it’s on sale. I think it’s all a scam.

Cool info but expected more

Good communication about the status of the test and results. The "free" results are cool and insightful but I expected more. To access the more advanced information you need to pay the $27+ monthly subscription, which seems excessive. I'd rather have a full report as a one-off (which I thought that was the case when paid the initial amount). I'd still recommend but nothing WOW.

Not a lot of info unless I want to pay for another upgrade. Buying the kit only gets you a free version online. Good to see DNA results for a macro look, but kind of thins out fast from there.

I do like that I can learn where I'm from, and build a family tree. But I hate that my husband and I purchased these together, and he can do way more stuff with his than I can, it wants me to pay, when his just automatically lets him do it.

According to all my relatives I should be near half native American. My DNA came back all European. I'm not sure what to think of it. I read how they say I only inherit select genes from both parents but what's the likelihood of my DNA not accepting those traits yet I do not sunburn and my cheekbones are near eye level. I look more like my mother than father and she is about 75% Native American.
