Flies on the buffet food

Our stay was at Holme Lacey House near Hereford. One of the Warner Leisure hotels. We visited the market garden restaurant for breakfast and Dinner when we noticed that the buffet food on the centre stall underneath the skylight window was crawling with green-bottle flies, they were also crawling on the mirror behind our table. For this reason we avoided selecting food from this area so our choice of buffet was limited to hot food only. I believe this was wholly unacceptable and constituted a safety hazard that could have resulted in an illness. We have visited other Warner hotels so much so that we are platinum guests and have never experienced this before.

A
Perfect Stay

I have stayed at 13 of the Warner Sites. Most recently was my 6th stay at Heythrop Park, my favourite of them all. The sheer expanse of the place is breathtaking. With a choice of 3 superb restaurants to dine in and 2 entertainment venues to enjoy visiting acts or the in-house entertainment team, it is the perfect place for a break.

Deteriorating Warner service

Warner have brought in a policy of not servicing rooms the day after arrival. This is appalling. We pay a lot of money to stay at Warner, we should not have to do our own housekeeping. We are disgusted about this new policy.

This was the first stay at The…

This was the first stay at The Runneymede on Thames, we have stayed at many Warner's before. We were welcomed at the reception and given our keys. There is only one small lift which is suppose to hold 6 but when you get wheelchairs in there is not much room even for the carer. Food was not as good as he has been other times and the activities which are now charged for was not good either. Prices had gone up with drinks etc but there was now a service charge on drinks brought to your table. The entertainment was very good and the room was clean and tided each day. We have decided that this would be our last Warner's holiday as we cannot see things getting any betteer

Great staff

Great staff, lots of facilities (a little tired, perhaps, but OK), nice accommodation, good food, on the whole, and plenty of it (but same menu on consecutive days but then we bridged a changeover day, which might be why.)

Have just come home from another stay…

Have just come home from another stay at Alverston Hall. Never disappoints the food was excellent and the staff are always polite and very helpful. The entertainment team at Alverston are very hard working and always put on an excellent show. The entertainments Manager should be very proud of his team and especially Lisa & Damien who work so hard & have great voices along with himself of course. Highly recommended a visit

A TOTALLY RUBBISH COMPANY

The only thing that I can give full marks to in Warner's Holme Lacey is the staff because without them the hotel has now declined into no more than a 3 star. We have been going there for 10 years and always enjoyed the breaks but that was before Bourne Leisure took over because their only consideration is how much money can they make from the clients by putting prices up sky high and cutting down on the standard of food, cleaning etc. Do not believe the adverts on the telly they are totally make believe. It's a disgrace what Bourne has done to Warner's. I'll say no more because I know this company will ignore any true statements about it's business practices. All I will say is why don't they just stick to taking over places like Butlin's

Thoresby Hall

We're just back from a thoroughly enjoyable 2 nights at Thoresby Hall. The Hall and grounds are stunning with lots of outdoor areas overlooking gorgeous views. Our room was large, beautifully decorated clean and comfortable with a huge bed. We paid for a patio which was a lovely little private suntrap. The spa and pool were so relaxing. We had a treatment and our staff member, Aimee was very good, with excellent customer service. Generally the food was plentiful and enjoyable, we enjoyed the Sherwood restaurant most. However, we were disappointed by our meal in Brasserie 32, which was not nicely presented or particularly tasty. Equally SOME of the staff left alot to be desired in terms of customer service and training, it almost seemed like we were an inconvenience. SOME staff were really good, an older chap from Scotland servicing the front outdoor area was very attentive and pleasant. The entertainment on both evenings was really enjoyable and of good quality, the entertainment staff worked hard, especially one young man (beautifully spoken) who never stopped! On the whole, we thought the weekend was good value for money and were quite shocked by the negative reviews.

28 day target for feedback :) :) :)

I have visited Warner hotels many times over the past years having generally an excellent experience. However in April we visited Alvaston and Bodelwydden as a 4 night break. Both reasonably close to home. Sadly we had poor experiences at both. Warner Hotels Facebook group advises people to fill in feedback forms available on the Warner website. So I filled in both. Sure enough they contacted me within a few days to discuss. The very pleasant and reassuring staff member told me she would discuss further with her managers and get back to me. That call never arrived despite me ringing and leaving messages for her she was always on a break or on another call. I had two further mini breaks and to be honest didn't think I would hear again but strangely on approx the 28th day from my complaint I received an email saying she had been trying to contact me. No previous emails no missed calls. So I emailed and rang back (on her break then later in the day on another call). By now I'd guessed why I received the email. So that the response within 28 days target/performance indicator Warner has set itself has been met. So sadly don't waste your time giving them feedback just do what we have done, used our feet and money and gone elsewhere. I awarded two stars because 1. They have a feedback form for complaints. 2. They did actually ring me to discuss my comments The other 3 stars are missing because they then appear to have ghosted me.

Stayed at Norton Grange and the isle of wight. From the moment we arrived just wanted to go home. Dont expect to drive up to reception to book in. After a long drive have to walk from the car park to book in. Then it just gets worse. Car park is over a 1/4 mile from our chalet and my husband had to move all our luggage single handedly uphill as i am disabled. We had three different chalets in a five day stay. No i did not have a walk in shower, only a shower over a bath which is no good to me. Surley staff stated but you did not book a refurbished room - Then could not give us another room for the whole stay. I thought i was going to an upmarket hotel, not a revamped Butlins. The road to the chalets has deep potholes running the width of the road a couple of really high speed bumps ( my mobility scooter only does 4 miles an hour I promise I dont speed). The ride was very uncomfortable and possibly dangerous. I dont understand the lack of signs showing where everything is. We decided to do the shooting, when asked for a local given a general arm wave - its over there. Going 'over there' saw a hut - no sign turned out to be what we were looking for. Found the Swimming pool but not the entrance. The food, starters and desserts are generally good. But do no order the garlic mushroom. - tinned mushrooms floating in what looked like a bowl of custard - returned uneaten. Had a roast one night, poor chef took ages to slice the brisket found out why when i tried to chew it. I am a Yorkshire lass and they badly need in lesson in yorkshire pudding making. One night we paid £5 extra each for fish and chips to be given some weird type of fish - definitely not cod. The rooms were ok. Beds on the high side - we are both tall and I still struggled to get it. Cleaning Staff and waitresses all lovely cant same the same for some of the reception staff. Just spend your money on a static caravan stay, and eat out, rather than this establishment.

Stayed in a signature room at Bembridge the room wasn’t very pleasant . Paint peeling off the doors yellow stain on the bathroom floor . The showers screen had awful black mould on the corners the shower pressure was very slow so took ages rinsing my hair had to ask for a change of towels on the 2nd day.dusty room Breakfast was horrible no sausages no orange juice. No yogurt for the fruit evening dinner wasn’t very appetising curry was terrible.Receptionist just said nobody else had complained. To lift our spirits the nightly entertainment was brilliant and the views from the hotel was beautiful sadly the staff and our rooms should be updated . The Cotswolds last year have the best warners .

Dirty bathroom, rooms not made up each day, beds not made and towels not changed.

Dirty bathroom, rooms not made up each day, beds not made and towels not changed. Also the electric vehicle charge points all occupied by Warners staff members who did NOT drive electric cars! Complaint made to Warners manager but totally ignored and then a complaint was made to Warners head office but they were not interested. These are NOT 4 star hotels!

Hard to believe

We have been staying at the Warner Hotel at Cricket Saint Thomas and my comments are based upon my observations at this hotel. Hands up, I am not a great fan of Warner’s hotels, but our friends are and we have been to a number as a group over the years. This is our third trip to this particular hotel in the last 5 years. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and collected our keys to our room. As we approached down the corridor we were greeted with a strong smell of bleach which increased markedly when we opened our door; it transpired that they had had an outbreak of a stomach bug ?norovirus? In the previous week. Well done for disinfecting our room, but perhaps ventilating the room afterwards would prevent someone with a respiratory issue being affected. Overall the staff on reception and those in a supervisory role are polite and competent. So onto what effected my score of a generous 2 stars. Many many people love Warners and I appreciate their views but our stay was particularly marred by the fact that Warners do not undertake housekeeping on your first day! You have to wait for clean towels and your bathroom to be cleaned after your second night. Really in a hotel? Restaurant staff were really indifferent, food presentation is poor, as even buffet food has to be served by Warner’s staff to limit the potential to spread the agent causing the stomach bug outbreak. They simply slap the food onto the plate with no attempt to make the food presentable. Staff are obviously poorly trained and this culminated in one of friends ordering the broad bean, spinach, courgette and feta risotto. It arrived and when the waiter was asked “where are the beans and spinach”, he left with the dish, returned and announced “chef says that there aren’t any” and the dish was given a ladle of French beans piled on top. Finally today I witnessed in the leisure centre a staff member arguing with a guest about accessing the changing room for ladies. The guest was becoming visibly upset and agitated. The staff member responded to her concerns with a comment “I have given you the code twice”. At which point I interjected and showed the lady how to open the door. It later transpired that the lock is faulty, but the question needs to be addressed regarding the customer was an elderly lady who was confused and becoming agitated. Raised voices was the order of the day and in my eyes, both parties were upset, but it was so unnecessary and the staff member should not have reacted in that manner. Ultimately many people lover Warners hotels. I admit to not being a huge fan, but in ten years or so of visiting, what I have witnessed this weekend has resulted in our whole party of 18 deciding that we wouldn’t visit again Cricket St Thomas and probably not to other hotels either. Hotel services are poor, staff poorly trained and the quality of food and service more school dinners than hotel.
